Julien is the premiere server - patient, makes incredible suggestions, knows the menu and wine list like the back of his hand and even elaborates on where food is sourced. “We had lunch at this # Brasseurs location on St-Paul E. in Old Montreal on Thursday May 2, 2024. We choose this because we had a very good time at the other on on Rue de St-Denis on Tue 4/30/24. We had just completed a 2-1/2 hr walking tour that ended near here. So exploring is thirsty work & it was lunch time. Big brewpub with 2 levels. The upper level was hosting about 100 high school students on a field trip. We sat at the bar and were immediately acknowledged by the busy bartender, Marina. She brought menus & waters and took our drink orders. I had a spicy Bloody Maria ($6.75) & my bride had a white wine ($10). I had a loaded, juicy burger w/ frites ($20) and she had the chicken Caesar salad ($16). Well prepared, burger hot & salad cold-perfect. Ambience of materials and lighting contrasts with nature of designer cocktail offerings and small plates food. Not in a bad way just interesting. Very loud. Music another contrast of contemporary and historic. Possible the youngsters thought it was all new. All the food we had was good. Shrimp cocktail charcuterie burrata and grilled bread.“

“Tried Bar George my first night in Montreal. Surprised my wife after telling her we are eating bar food tonight lol. Was seated very fast, beautiful building. It was later and there was some music playing, not overbearing, comfortable volume. Our service was excellent and very prompt. The food was unbelievable, the flavor's, the textures, and presentation was fantastic. Even the asparagus that came with my beef wellington was the best I ever had. The wellington itself was outstanding, every bite an experience. The meal was a bit pricey, but felt reasonable with the atmosphere, the service, and the food quality we received. We will definitely be back for a special treat every now and then.“
