“Was at Murphy's this morning for breakfast and if 6 stars was an option I would give it 10??????????. I ordered the Irish Breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. This was also the first time I had black and white pudding and I really enjoyed it...and yes I know what is in black and white pudding, but I don't care, it was delicious. The food came out in a very timely manner and was still hot, but not TOO hot. My server Jennifer was very pleasant and attentive. The only bad thing is now I have higher standards for breakfast because of Murphys. No other breakfast will cut it. ???“

Captain Seaweed's Pub Pubs • $
162 Ives St, Providence

“A nautical-themed bar on Ives St, Captain's Seaweeds is a fun little bar. It has some elements of a dive bar, but I wouldn't really call it that. While they do have a pool table and fairly cheap beer, imbibers are generally from around the neighborhood, not really the typical dive bar crowd. I mean, there was a group playing with Beyblades when we came. They don't serve food, but there are a couple good options nearby and they'll let you bring in takeout. They do have an outdoor area when the weather's nice, but during the winter the bar tends to get pretty crowded. Lots of nautical themed decorations, which help give it a unique character. All in all, a good option if you're coming for a few drinks and then heading home, but it's a little out of the way if you're trying to bar hop or don't live in the area.“

“I got outrageously hammered here and miscalculated my tab when it was time to sign it and ended up tipping them in almost 100%, which would have been way too much even tho they're good folks. luckily they were kind enough to notice and not debit all that money from my card so 5/5 will come again“

“I have often heard about how great the burgers were at The Abbey and now I know why. Recently I decided to try their Roadhouse Burger before the Providence College hockey game, and it brought me back to a time where my mom would make burgers from scratch when I was a young teenager, grinding the beef cuts herself on the meat grinder clamped at the end of the dining room table. The place was packed and yet the service came with a smile, and they were very accommodating by seating us with two others at a table for four. Great speedy service (there was a team of cooks preparing for the rush), and great atmosphere. Now let's talk burger. Any great burger starts with good cuts of beef. I could see that they grind the beef themselves, and this half pound behemoth nestled on a huge bun to support its weight, was fresh, and not frozen. Seriously, they ask you how you want it cooked, like a steak. Isn't that what a burger is...a ground steak sandwich? Every bite was delicious, and regardless of which burger you order, the star is the beef, and the toppings are there for the ride, not to be the main attraction. For those who are gluten-free you could order it without the bread. So if you are craving a tasty burger in Rhode Island, forget all those snooty, trendy bistros that try and get it right, and go to The Abbey and treat yourself to the best burger in the state.“

Drinks kept coming. The vibe of the place was awesome. Went before the PC v. Georgetown basketball game; it was packed, but not so much that you couldn't move or get comfortable. Wickenden Pub Bar • $
320 Wickenden St, Providence

“One of the oldest pubs in the United States, just not the same name lol. The Son's of Liberty drank here! They still serve Half-Yards! A beer drinkers Mecca they have dozens of bottles and draft options. Priced right. One caveat, they haven't painted since the Son's drank there so keep a sense of humor. Great place for some suds. I've been a customer for over thirty years.Dietary restrictions: As long as it's beer or whiskey you are good!Kid-friendliness: Not!“

Wild Colonial Tavern Bar • $$
250 S Water St, Providence

“Historic tavern located right on the Providence River, on the east side of the pedestrian bridge. The building itself is very cool, it's pretty roomy and the old style brick walls will make you feel like you drinking in a true colonial tavern. I enjoyed the beer list and they were all reasonable priced. They have a pool table, two dart boards, a couple TVs, and someone even came in with a chess set, so plenty of stuff to do. It's also close to downtown, so easy to find other places if you're bar hopping or just aren't feeling the vibe.“
