“Fantastic bar on the west side of Providence, walkable from Downtown, Federal Hill, and the West End. My favorite part of their drink menu is their cocktails, but they have a great beer selection and decent wine selection as well. Prices are very affordable, and the service has always been great. Most times I’ve gone it’s been a chill spot, not too crowded with good music. This past weekend I went and it was packed. We figured we came during an event, and turns out it was Kimi’s birthday! Even got a slice of birthday cake on the house, and had a great time even though we felt a bit like party crashers. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly, though, and I’m looking forward to coming back again!“

“My husband and I were fortunate enough to have Troop host our wedding in November and it was the best time! Every one of our guests commented that it was the best wedding they have ever been to. Adam and Nikki helped me from the beginning to capture my vision of my perfect wedding day. The staff was on point and the food...A-MAZING! No stuffy country club blah food here! And we had bartenders that rocked!! Never waited for a drink. As the bride...I have to give Nikki a special shout out, she was right there to make sure my husband and I ate and were taken care of. The best was when I was getting into the limo to leave and she handed me a take out bag with pieces of my wedding cake and Troop's delicious chocolate chip cookies. If you haven't had one then your missing out. My guests all left with one to take home. I highly recommend Troop to host your next party. Enjoy!“

“Fabulously located on the river with great outdoor seating, very bike friendly and a great spot for a date!! We tried Besina, the Mexican concept for lunch one day and the Italian concept, Double Zero, for dinner another night. Both had inventive, well executed menus though not a total knockout from either. Would come back to try more from both of these spots, as well as the other businesses in the market hall. Double Zero: We loved the deconstructed raw lasagne - I cannot emphasize how cool this dish is - cultured cashew ricotta, dollops of tomato sauce and pesto, and thinly sliced ribbons of raw zucchini. It's phenomenal and I want to make it at home. Not as great - the chili pizza. It doesn't have enough toppings and was just an oily sheet of dry dough with globs of the same cashew ricotta. Besina: We were pleased to be introduced to Tlayuda, a thin Oaxacan flat bread that they top with jackfruit, loads of cultured cashew crema, herbs, and avocado. My partner was crazy about it but i'm generally not totally convinced by the sweetness of jackfruit and it was a little too wet for my taste. Not as great - the Tacos Dorados. Fried oyster mushrooms were heavy and dense and served with an aioli which contributed to the heavy flavors. Could be remedied with a lighter batter on the mushrooms and more of a salad/pickled veg component and it would be delicious. Updated from previous review on 2024-04-04“

“Quite the hidden gem. I stumbled upon this as a choice coming in from out of town and considered it an option if we had nothing else to do. We had some time, so wandered over to this very unassuming to the point of worrisome place. However, super worth it. I've been to barcades before but haven't been to one that charges a general admission ($7 pp) for unlimited games which is (pun intended) a game changer. The drinks were very reasonably priced. The gaming options felt like I was preparing for Ready Player One, with extensive options. Most games were functional (RIP left guitar of Guitar Hero) and it was awesome to be able to win skeeball and air hockey over and over again and continue my mission on various games without having to pay for more time. Wish I had more time to spend here!“

“Officially one of my new favorite restaurants in providence! When you walk in, there's dim lighting which I particularly enjoyed especially because it made the providence sign stand out. “Apps - Polenta fries were the best I’ve ever had. Nice crispy exterior and beautifully creamy inside. Well seasoned and you get the taste of jalepeño without the spiciness. As someone who makes their own plenty of fries at home, I highly recommend these! We also shared the ribs which were fall off the bone amazing! Sauce had a little kick and I appreciated the garnish with peanuts to provide some crunch!Overall, I think the apps were better than the entree and there were a lot more “small plates” to choose from.Entree - my partner and I split the fried chicken sandwich and burger. Both of which were great sandwiches, meaty and well seasoned. Fries come on the side and had a nice seasoning on them.Service - appetizers came out quick, no issues there. However, for the entrées, I was served my sandwich five minutes before my partner and was nearly done before he got his food. That’s really the only fault we can find!Key Takeaways:⭐️ bring friends to go tapas style with all the amazing small plates / appetizers⭐️ingredients are high qualityWheelchair accessibility: Accessible“

“It’s a good spot that stays open later than most places in the area but with really good food. I’ve come back multiple times in one week.Loved almost everything I’ve had here. The charcuterie board comes with soft boiled eggs and toasts.I like the lighting in the evening ; nice and dim but I did see some people needing their phone lights to see the menu. I thought it was perfect lighting though.Great mashed potatoes. Very creamy and maybe whipped? The prices of some items are reasonable and others are a bit more expensive. Fries were $9 and they were great but I just think that’s an odd price for that.It does get really loud in here at night on weekends as they try to transition into more of a bar.Parking is obviously a bit difficult but they seem to offer valet services and I chose to walk instead. It’s also not far from the bus for easy public transportation. You should make a reservation if you decide to come here during popular times like Friday-Saturday nights but most other times are fine.“

We were running ahead of schedule so called to see if they could take us early and they were SO accommodating! Also, I had mentioned (very much in passing) when I made the rez that it was my dad’s bday. I definitely didn’t make a big deal about it. And shortly after we sat down, our server (maybe she was the manager/owner?) brought over 2 glasses of Prosecco and wished him a happy birthday!!! What an amazing and thoughtful touch! The food was amazing as usual (I love nicks!) and when asked, our server knew where all the ingredients came from (almost all local!) and even turned me on to a new delicious tequila (also from a local family!). Juniper Bar Bar •
55 Cromwell St, Providence

“Out of all the bars in Providence, juniper has solidified its spot as my favorite for many different reasons. First and foremost- the drinks. That's what we go to a cocktail bar for, right? The creative and extensive lineup of cocktails here has something for every taste. From the sultriest, smokiest scotch concoction you can imagine all the way down to the lightest, most refreshing punch, they've got what you're looking for. Not sure what you're looking for? Tell Morgan or Brian what you like and let them take it away. Secondly, the space itself is a dream come true. I'm not a big "going out" guy. Crowds, loud music, tvs on every wall- not my jam. This bar is none of that. It is a small, very tasteful space where you can hear yourself think, and hear your friends talk. The lighting is perfect, and the music is always good. Stopping in here for a couple drinks feels like sitting by the fire in your living room while it's storming outside. It just doesn't get any cozier. Third, the fresh Knead donuts! Not your usual cocktail pairing, but who can resist? Certainly not me. With a rotating selection of whatever just came out of the oven, you can't go wrong. This is a speakeasy, so you'll have to find the password to get buzzed in. Trust me, its worth looking for.“
