“Officially one of my favorite bars in Providence! It's gorgeous inside, but the drink was absolutely amazing, and I don't typically drink. They have some great options, but I chose the beet drink with goat cheese foam which initially intrigued me but simultaneously sounded strange. Well it was delicious! Loved our experience and will be back.“

“I love the moody lighting and music that plays at night! Each member of the staff was extremely personable and we loved talking to Ryudo & Anthony about the stunning drinks/food they made. Watching them make a hot cocktail on a cold night was incredible! What really made this an experience instead of an outing was all of the small details that were paid attention to. Like higher quality paper towels in the bathroom, coasters matching the type and color of drink, utilities having a matching aesthetic (from lamps to teapots!) and bartenders personalizing each drink (offering us little changes they think we would like more, without us having to ask just based on how we react to the previous drinks). It was all so personal, and I loved watching every single person get that experience. I like that it’s just how they do things, and not just our one time experience onlyAnd I’m not just biased because I love the olives (they come in a little bathtub!!)“

Sapphire Cocktail Bar •
18 Bassett St, Providence

“We attended a Maison Ferrand cognac seminar & tasting the other night at Sapphire & it was such a fun & unique experience for us. The staff at Sapphire (Melissa, Marc, & Shiv), as well as the guest bartender (Vannaluck), went above & beyond to make the experience interactive & memorable. We were greeted immediately with a French 75 made with cognac - Did you know that the original French 75 called for cognac, as well as many other classic cocktails? No? Neither did I. The welcome aperitif was a great lil' treat to kick the night off with. We were given a mini charcuterie selection to keep us busy until the main event, which began about 20 minutes after we arrived. Vannaluck talked us through the history & characteristics of cognac. We were given 3 small pours of different cognacs to taste as well as a serendipitous, bonus mini pour at the end. Throughout the night, the kitchen sent out a variety of tapas that UTILIZED COGNAC. Cognac glaze, reduction, brine, etc. Fascinating! I went in knowing next to nothing about cognac & left with a decent understanding of the spirit. I've always wanted to do something like this, & Sapphire made it extremely accessible. It was also amazingly affordable. I'm really looking forward to more events like this one. Sign me up, please.“

“After attending church in Providence on Sunday, my friends and I chose to have brunch at Rouge Island Local Kitchen & Bar!Parking near Weybosset St always proves challenging, and even though we called ahead for reservations, we were informed that we still had to endure a 40-minute wait. Eager to indulge in our meals, we settled into the cozy yet slightly warm dining room.Taking 15 minutes to peruse the menu, I selected the Cinnamon Roll French Toast Sticks. Despite their appealing appearance, I found the texture and flavor disappointing, sensing the batter was undercooked. Conversely, my friend enjoyed them, praising their hearty feel & excellent cinnamon crunch exterior, rating them 4 out of 10.The absolute highlight of my meal was "The Bear" breakfast sandwich, priced at $23. It featured Beer Braised Short Rib Shredded Beef, Giardiniera Aioli, Cabot Creamery Sharp Cheddar, Roasted Garlic, Arugula, Fried Shallots, and a Sunny Side Egg on a Griddled Sesame Seed Bun. I opted for an over-easy egg and homefries. My brother & I both got this thing of beauty. We gave it an impressive 8.8 outta 10 for its fantastic flavors!Other friends tried the Crispy Chicken & Waffle, appreciating the crispy, meaty chicken but finding it lacking in flavor. The waffle, though well-cooked, was deemed average, with the fresh berries being the highlight. They rated it 6.1 out of 10 and expressed a desire to explore different menu items next time. One friend ventured into The Blondie French Toast from the specials menu, describing it as lackluster & mushy with an unexpected lemon taste. She mentioned that the flavors didn't complement each other well. Priced at $19 for two pieces, most of it remained on the plate, resulting in a unfortunate 3 outta 10 rating.I would like to extend special acknowledgment to our exceptional server, Ally, whose attentive service significantly enhanced our dining experience!Despite the mixed experience, our overall impression was positive, leaving us eager to return for more tasty and creative brunch offerings!FOLLOW ME ON Instagram @IGTYFOOD !!!“

I called ahead to inquire about mocktails, and was told they could definitely accommodate that request. My coworker and I showed up, neither of us drink, and Dallas made us both amazing mocktails. I often feel like the bartenders in most places are annoyed when you don’t drink alcohol but I really did feel welcome and included and was very grateful. “So I have to say I am really pleased that Diego’s has got its groove back. I was there in June for a disastrous brunch and we left aft 45 minutes of a really bad experience. I mention this as the owner must have cleaned house. I was there on Sunday for brunch and I can not help but to describe the experience as phenomenal. The service - impeccable. It was almost as if the waitress knew when our drinks were almost empty every time. She also had some great recommendations related to the food and drinks. The food - phenomenal. We had the crack fries as an appetizer and it was not only great but the portion large enough that I had trouble finishing my actual meal. And the special - I had the Chicken Benedict. The only thing I can say bad about it was it was so big I couldn’t finish it. Everything about it was perfect - it had a little zing, the cornbread was a perfect alternative to an English Muffin, and the chicken so good. So my compliments to the owner and staff. I don’t see my review from June but I’m sure they remember it and changes were made. We decided to give it another try and I will I say this without hesitation… this was probably one of the best brunch meals I have had in a long time. Well done - we will definitely be back.“
