“Oh I loved the atmophere. Clean, cozy, comfortable... good food. But my passion for cats, anomals said i have to see this place.. so surprised how any one could complain about anything..people were also there in a room for a book club. What a great idea. So i voluntered. No pay, just want to be with the kittys... loved the serenity of the place. Now i can love all the cats I want.. stop by,, a nice surprise... maybe see you there. The counter where the food is ordered is a bit further back to the right. Hard to see, but stop by.. nice change, too.“

“We enjoyed having breakfast at this wonderful place while in Newport, RI. The people who own it and those who work there are AMAZING, friendly, and take the time to talk to customers while keeping service at the top of their list. They (from the kitchen to the front door) look like they love working there and have created a loving family environment. Of course, the line was out the door and down the street, but that was okay because everyone enjoyed visiting each other. There is just one warning, the portions are enormous. You know when my husband can't finish it, it's a lot. 🤣“

“First time try…. played it safe, and got my ice caramel latte, although they had so many specialty coffee’s that I was tempted to try. Owner and or employee recognized we were new faces and asked if it was our first time. When I said yes he handed me a free large sample of their “OG” which was very good, and I would def go back for or try another specialty! Customer service experiences like this are always huge for me and also if your a plant person and love coffee this is the place for you!“

“Overall very good food, chefs are great. Summer hires are rude and impatient however. So just “for future reference”: The line gets crowded quickly, small place. To avoid the staff becoming frustrated with you, make sure to: 1) Pick your menu items quickly and 2) pick drinks quickly, and if they are from fridge take drinks with you to final register If you do not do this, you may be called out in public by folks at register, and it can be a little embarrassing. Check menu online and know what you want before you go and you should have a good experience!“

“We just came by boat with two little kids not realizing the new fall hours. The employee working saw them peaking into the window and was so kind bringing them each out doughboy donuts. It was such a generous and thoughtful gesture that truly made these two little kids day! We look forward to coming again in the spring (during hours your open)“

“The piadina are amazing along with the homemade pasta and prepared items. The Portsmouth store is much easier to access than Middletown (parking) and the staff are great. I would give 5 stars if they were open til at least 5:30pm weeknights. It’s hard to get there by 5pm and I imagine they lose quite a bit of business from those of us wanting to grab dinner on the way home from work.“

“We love going to Sip & Bite on West Ave. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and they are always so kind to my kids, which really makes a difference.

The food is consistently good, especially the açaí bowls. Fresh, simple, and still budget friendly.

“We just had the most amazing pastry from Sweet Rose—made with zucchini, of all things! I’ve never had zucchini taste this good (sorry, Mom!). Light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just right. Huge compliments to the bakers for turning a humble veggie into something so delicious. This was easily one of the best breakfasts we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this bakery. We’ll definitely be back soon!“

“This place is a gem! We came for breakfast and the donuts were GOOD. The chourico rolls too. I got an iced coffee as well.
We’ve also tried this place for dinner and it was also good! The egg rolls were my favorite, the chicken had its own breading? It was crispier than other places I’ve had.
The people are polite and service is quick. We plan to keep coming back“

“Staff here so we super nice. They know my coffee and always ask me if I want my usual. I will go here again. They are apologetic if anything ever happens to register and if something is down. They are always willing to treat you with a smile and ask you how your day is while you wait while they make your coffee.“

“Upon walking in, there are a few seated tables to the left and a few high tops to the right. All the tables are fairly spacious. Self seating and order at the counter. They have a good variety of baked goods. Everything looked really fresh tasty. They have drink specials (lattes). We ordered D'S Country Breakfast (comes with sausage, bacon, toast and home fries), egg and cheese on English, blueberry pancakes (very fluffy and plenty of blueberries), and Sunny Toast (with avocado and there's vegemite spread on the toast). They also have cold pressed juice made to order. We got the Healthy Heart (carrot, apple, ginger). Great spot where all the locals go and for people that are visiting the area.“

“We were vacationing in Newport from Wisconsin and stopped in at Cappy’s. Sue the bartender was friendly and a wonderful bartender. The owner Joe, what can I say….what a guy! Joe saw us walking to our Airbnb and yelled at us on the street asking when we were headed back home. Joe is a gem of a bartender. He has a gift of gab and can hand out the bs too. Nice local establishment with friendly customers and bartenders. We had Dan as a bartender too and he was a friendly, great guy! “Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good. Ordering was easy, Steph ensured we had a great variety and enough to feed the post-wedding crowd. We did have breakfast here and it was stellar! Any event you need catered, be sure to check Steph and the team out. You will, NOT be disappointed!“

Jasmine green tea was pretty good (7/10) We really liked the decaf coffee (9/10) what a treat. The regular coffee was not noteworthy, but fine. Nitro’s is much better. “Very nice, medium size neighborhood drinking establishment. They have a kitchen, but not a daily menu. When food is served it's over the top delicious. So if somethings listed on their chalk board be sure to place an order. There's also a larger room available for function rentals. Place is super clean and the staff is friendly. Especially Victor, the owner....ask him to see the parrots. He has a pair of beautiful birds that are often in the background somewhere. They're friendly, but let Vic do all the introductions.“

“Travelling for work in Newport for a few weeks and did the local coffee shop circuit - Custom House was easily the best in the area, and in the top tier I've enjoyed anywhere. The coffee was excellent, baked goods were EXCELLENT, and the prices were spot on. It was clean and charming inside/outside without feeling pretentious or sterile like so many shops these days. “This is the hidden gem of Newport. I’ve been coming here almost everyday for a few weeks now and let me tell you, after this I don’t even think I can do Dunkin anymore. First off, the iced coffee is a dark roast so I don’t even have to add a shot of espresso. Their breakfast sandwich are thick with real egg/bacon. They don’t skimp here. In fact for the summer only if you buy food you’ll get yourself a FREE iced coffee. And on top of it all, the crew here is amazing. Tell them I sent you!!“

“We go here a few times a year. We ordered donuts today for my son's birthday. We did it through door dash. I wrote a little note asking for specific donuts that he would like. They gave us what we wanted, plus one extra, plus a little note. It's the little things in life that mean a lot to me. So i take appreciate that. It means we will keep going back.
