“When I came into this store last, I was politely greeted by a kind young man. He was very diligent and receptive toward me throughout the entire exchange. He made me feel very welcome and ensured he got my entire order correct. The whole time, he had a smile on his face and seemed like he was in a great mood. I have gone in several times, and the majority of the workers are rude and disrespectful; however, I believe his name was Andrew, and he was outstanding!”

I've seen the photos, heard the stories, and listened to people debate one question over and over again... "Is it REALLY worth $145 per person?" 👀 Well, after finally making the trip out to Charlestown to experience it for myself (15yrs ago was my last visit), I can officially answer that question. Absolutely. ☝🏾❤️ The moment I pulled onto the property, I knew this wasn't your typical restaurant. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, the atmosphere was incredible, and there was an excitement in the air that immediately made the place feel more like a destination than simply somewhere to eat. Before I even walked through the front door, I was welcomed by Owen, who gave me a ride from the overflow parking lot to the entrance in a golf cart. It may seem like a small thing, but it was the first example of the hospitality I experienced throughout the evening. Much love Owen ☝🏾❤️ Once inside, I met Jake and Kory, fourth-generation family members whose great-grandparents started The Nordic back in 1963. Hearing a little of the history behind the restaurant only added to the experience. As I explored the property, it became clear why this place has earned such a legendary reputation throughout New England. The dining rooms were packed, the buffet stations stayed busy, and everywhere I looked people were carrying plates loaded with lobster, crab legs, prime rib, seafood, desserts, and just about everything else you could imagine. I was also fortunate to meet Kat, who many of you specifically told me to look for during my visit, along with several other staff members throughout the evening. I even had the opportunity to meet numerous B.A.R.R. fans who stopped by to say hello, introduce themselves, and share their experiences at The Nordic. Those interactions helped make an already memorable evening even more enjoyable. But y'all already know... A beautiful atmosphere and friendly people only gets you halfway there. 🤷🏾‍♂️😀 The food STILL has to raise the B.A.R.R. 😏🔥 So here's how a Brotha attacked it... 1️⃣ Plate #1 - First Station 💣 THE BOMB I started with the seafood station, loaded with lobster, snow crab legs, and cornbread. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you'd hope for from one of the most talked-about seafood destinations in New England. It was the perfect way to start the evening. 2️⃣ Plate #2 - Second Station 💣 THE BOMB My second plate came from another seafood station and featured a variety of offerings including pork ribs, stuffed shrimp, clams, conch salad, and several other items. Once again, the quality remained impressive across the board. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, and plenty of variety. At this point I was beginning to understand why people travel from all over New England to eat here. 3️⃣ Plate #3 - Third Station 💣 THE BOMB The third station featured many of the specialty items, including prime rib, filet mignon, fried shrimp, and sea scallops. Yooooo B.A.R.R. fans... This station was outstanding. 🥰🔥 The prime rib was tender, flavorful, and cooked beautifully. The filet mignon was excellent, and the seafood continued to impress. By this point I was already getting full, but the quality never dropped off. Everything continued to deliver. 4️⃣ Dessert Station 🍰 DELICIOUS By the time I reached the dessert station, a Brotha was running out of available storage space. 😭🤣 After three full plates of food, a Brotha was definitely feeling it. 😭🤣 But somehow I still managed to find room for dessert. The dessert station offered a huge variety of sweet treats and was the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. 🏁 MY FINAL THOUGHTS: Let me Keep It Real B.A.R.R. fans... The Nordic isn't somewhere you're going every week. It's a destination. 📍❤️ It's the kind of place you visit for birthdays, anniversaries, ”

“This is the BEST Thai food!!! Everyone is so kind and the food is amazing!!! I will forever recommend this restaurant. The owner comes out to say hello whenever I go. Last night we got take out and it was just as amazing!!! Thank you for all you do!!”

“Visiting the area for one day/night and selected Hoof’s for dinner off of Google Maps, restaurants near. We were not disappointed! We sat at the bar for dinner and we each had a glass of wine. The bar tender was a very friendly charismatic guy who took great care of us! He started us with great tasting crusty bread with flavored butter and amazing olive oil. We got an order of oysters rockerfeller which were yummy, then split a cesaer salad which was so crunchy and fresh. Our main dishes were very, very tasty. When we arrived around 5:30 on a Friday there were a few diners, but when we left they were nearly full. I can see why! DELICIOUS!!!”

“We are from Connecticut, and headed to East beach yesterday, on one of the hotter days. Wanted to try something different for dinner and found this place. I highly highly recommended. Love the building, the location and especially the food. Very, very creative, but approachable and delicious. We tryed acouple of the different tacos, and also the green curry on grits, which made my mouth very, very happy. You've got to try this place.”

“Pompelmo Gelato was a fantastic field trip! Melanie welcomed our small homeschool group to the shop and shared about her journey between Argentina and Italy, her achievements and awards, some of the beautiful culture around gelato, how it’s made, what separates it from ice cream, what inspires her, and how she aims to keep its magic with ever changing daily flavors. What a beautiful place. She generously let us tour the shop on her day off as well as sample multiple flavors of gelato. All delicious! She’s lovely to listen to and holds an abundance of story and information. This is the most delicious field trip I’ve ever been on. It truly felt magical! Pompelmo Gelato is a treasure!”

“Adorable bakery / deli for delicious baked goods, pastries and honestly… I was floored at how GOOD the turkey grinder was. Slightly obsessing over it. To the point where my husband asked what made it so good and I could only say “good, fresh ingredients and lots of care & heart”. Definitely stop in if you are hungry or want to pick up a pastry for later.

Incredibly friendly staff. One woman took my order and another quickly jumped in noticing I was eyeing the pastries after ordering a sandwich.

Customers around were also nice. Seems like a great community, company, family-run kind of business.

“📅 01.04.25 ✍🏾 BIG AL’S WRITTEN REVIEW EP. CANCELLED Ella’s Food & Drink 👎🏾 📍 Westerly, Rhode Island I pulled up to Ella’s to do what I’ve done over 197 times before. I filmed a quick intro outside, walked in, got a quick vid of the interior and before I got to sit down for a food review it went downhill fast. Almost immediately, the energy felt off. As I started my usual walkthrough (phone in hand), the interaction with the owner turned uncomfortable. Instead of being welcoming or neutral, the tone came off as condescending, rude and dismissive. There was no effort to de-escalate the situation, and I quickly felt unwelcome in the space. At that point, I made the right decision to leave. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t make a scene. I simply chose not to stay where I didn’t feel respected or welcomed. I’m always courteous, polite, and respectful when I walk into any establishment, and my money is just as good as anyone else’s. I would have easily dropped $250 on that visit including a generous tip for my server. When the vibe is off, I listen to that instinct. “Daddy's Bread is a hidden gem! It still astounds me how many RI people don't know about it. The blueberry apple bread is a favorite! But also try their home made corn chips, muffins, and other baked goods. And you can find drinks, fresh eggs and cold desserts in the fridge. Pay by cash or digital payment. Free parking but small lot
Near beaches. But go early as things sell out. Then go home and make a wonderful breakfast. I made French toast and home made blueberry sauce.”

“I had dinner at Dan’s Place on Saturday evening and enjoyed my visit. The portions were generous, and I liked the fried mussels. The steak was a little on the tough side, but overall the food was good. There was live music that added to the atmosphere. I’d give it a solid four stars.”
