“Loved this Mom and Pop style food stop. Reminds me of the old corner kitchens from when I was younger.

I got the cheeseburger basket all the way, which came with fries and also got a small side of onion rings. The fries were seasoned perfectly and that burger was MASSIVE! I snacked on the onion rings during my drive so I didn't get a chance to get a picture of them but they were great, too!

If you are looking for that original, small-town, corner kitchen feel, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely be back anytime I am in this part of town.

Parking: Parking is slim and you may have to park on one of the side streets but the the food is worth it.“

“This is absolutely my favorite barbecue restaurant in Columbia , hands down.. I’ve tried quite a few different bbq places around here.. And every time I will always choose to come back here…. It’s a buffet and reasonably priced. There aren’t too many options but it’s just enough and expected at a bbq restaurant, green beans, Mac and cheese, hush puppies hash and rice, Cole slaw, baked beans, fried chicken, and pulled pork.. there may be a few things I missed but I’m a true southern girl and am actually kind of picky.. but the people are great the food is delicious and I will definitely be back!“

“All of their menu prices are unbeatable for a bbq spot. Its great for lunch. Downside is they are only open 12-4. I went here today to see if they were open, and they were. You can smell the smoke when you get out your vehicle 🥰. I ordered the 1/2 pit special rib dinner. It comes with hash, rice, two sides, and a roll. I substituted the hash and rice for mac n cheese. Collards and potato salad for the sides. I didn't get a roll with my order, but I didn't remember it came with one until I made this post 🤦🏿‍♂️. I was disappointed with the size of the ribs 🤔. There was one st. Louis style rib and two rib tips. I would assume its this way because they seperated the tip from the meat. The rib tips were meaty 😋. The flavor was good. They were very tender. It came with homemade bbq sauce and it complimented the ribs well. The sides were good as well. The mac n cheese had the right amount of cheese (to me), the collards were a tad bit over seasoned but still good, and the potato salad was good and cold. The price was very good for what you get from a bbq spot. Total price was $10.75. I will definitely be back to try other items. There could be a little wait for your order because you order from outside amd if you don't go to the window for an update you won't know your order is ready.“

“Visited Columbia for 1 day, looked for local BBQ. Being from NY state, didn't know good from great BBQ. Now I know not just great Ribs and uniquely delicious Hash and Rice, but unique hospitality and service to "write home about"! The owner took time to sit with us and share small talk and how he learned BBQ from his Dad and Grandfather. Thankfully they taught him more than just great cooking. We found welcoming service, a clean place inside to sit, with great food, I suggest you enjoy True for yourself, hope your visit is as great as ours was.“

“We have been travelling between Cincinnati, OH and the South Carolina coastal area for over 25 years. Based on BBQ lure and many investigations, one of the stops we began to make was at Hite's BBQ. Husband always has a cooler ready to go and even plans his drive so we can get there when they are open. We have eaten at their picnic tables but mostly pack as much as we can for family, friends, and mostly us. Recently my husband was on the trip alone and stopped for his "fix." The credit card machine was doing something crazy and we were overcharged. Upon discovery, we reached out to Hites and they immediately refunded our whole bill. That was not necessary, as we purchased products. I think they are about the nicest folks anywhere, and that's on TOP of their high quality food. Thanks you guys! We will be stopping again soon. “Owner was so kind to me and my family (2 adults and 3 kids). Our waitress was great and the food options were great too. I like that they have the protien and add ins buffet style instead of ordering and waiting for your meat to come to table. They have this really yummy apple juice soda that you can help yourself to how ever much you want. Highly recommend going.“

“Super casual chines take out but then have traditional chinese meals, like braised eggplant and hot pot. they also have the american chinese staples. try some stir fried vegetables, the roast pork is delicious, they only order by the pound, no half pounders, not the greatest place more worn down. dine in and take out. my only go to place in columbia/irmo

“I had the smoked pigs feet and 1/4 smoked chicken leg and in every bite you can taste the smoky flavor. Had homemade Mac and cheese, white rice ( which had flavor to it) and omg the best fresh and I mean fresh cut collards ( I could eat a big bowl of them collards) . I wish they would bring back the smoked turkey wings, I’ve seen photos of the smoked turkey wings but was told they don’t do them anymore, this place is going to be my go to place at least once a week. Need to open on in the saint Andrews area“

“Our employee Christmas party last Saturday was catered by Cox Family BBQ, and it was absolutely wonderful! Their food truck has been a staple at our community events for a few years, consistently delivering delicious BBQ pork and chicken that never disappoints. This time, for our Christmas party, we opted for BBQ Pork as well as we wanted to try the Turkey, and it was AMAZING! Thank you, Cox Family BBQ, for helping make our Employee Christmas Party Great! “First Time visit. Great and clean restaurant environment. The weather was perfect for three huge outside dining patio they have. I was solo so got a bar spot and dodged the 15+ waiting to be seated. I was hard pressed to pick between Menu bbq or buffet. After a quick perusal the buffet chicken bog said pick me. The bog had baby carrots in it. And was very gummy. Needed a pinch of Salt. Wonderful wood smoke smell as soon as I exited my car on arrival. However it didn't make a huge memory on first bite of que. The collards and Green Beans were both very flavorful. Brunswick stew tasted very good, but don't expect a juicy "stew" on the buffet, it was very moist, but didn't need a spoon to eat it. My bartender was amazing a true triple threat. She handled to go offers, bar drinks and bar dining tables like a champ! Super friendly, smiling, and always moving with a purpose. Not sure I would come back for the food. This was a destination diner as I was traveling. It was quick and easy, buffet at 13.49 IMO was priced too cheap. (No drink inc tho) This was a solid 3.5. border line 4 for cleanliness and the work ethic of the bartender.“

I only came back cause the food was good. But today’s experience was a great one. Mrs. Kandi was so friendly, helpful, pleasant and professional. Everything was great, the only one downside was our entrees were served just after we received our salad, so the timing was a bit off, but not huge. Liam apologized for that, so its all good.
