From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the stage for what turned out to be an outstanding meal. My wife ordered the grilled pork chops with three vegetables, while I went with a classic hamburger and fries. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the food arrived hot and fresh with barely any wait time. The attention to detail in both the preparation and presentation was evident. Our server, Janice, was an absolute delight—greeted us with a smile and was full of great recommendations to help us choose the perfect meal. Her friendly, attentive service made the experience even better. If you’re anywhere near Batesburg, The Root Cellar is a must-visit. Tonight we had the shishito peppers, Chinese pork belly, snapper and the braised lamb pappardelle followed by the olive oil cake with sweet cream eggplant ice cream. We both agreed it was one of our top meals over the past several years at Terra and cannot wait until our next date! Quality, consistency and service are always top notch, and the one time we tried another restaurant for our date night we totally regretted it and went right back to Terra for our next meetup. “I have eaten here a few times. The chicken salad is great! The croissant each time is a bit dry. I switched to their wheat bread, which was better. The quality of their chicken salad is amazing. So flavorful! The lettuce and tomato are fresh. The cute little cookie you get just ordering a sandwich was a nice treat! I’ve tried the broccoli cheddar soup, that is very cheesy and tasty. The pasta salad was kind of bland and a super small portion but that’s ok. They have lots of options to figure out what you like. The price is not bad if you just do the sandwich, less than $10. My favorite is the Kickin’ Kay Lynne. The sriracha is a nice touch! The cranberry Kelly is good too! That one reminds me of cape cod chicken salad like back home. This place is always packed but the staff is always nice and get you in and out pretty quickly. My new favorite lunch spot!“

“I eat their weekly. Grew up eating Lizards Thicket. Started out at the one that used to be by the airport. I’ve eaten at all of them. They are all good. Love the breakfast. Love the specials. Love the staff. Would recommend anybody that has had a bad Experience. Don’t let that one time experience stop you from enjoying a lot more of good experiences there. Highly recommend them.!!!!👍“

No sign identifies them. They are a restaurant/bar within the Hilton Doubletree hotel. Three delicious, substantial, vegetarian options available at modest prices. Delicious pecan pie dessert, too. Eager to visit there again!“

I live in Chicago but I am from SC. Every time that I am in town I HAVE TO visit Lizards Thicket. It's the best fast southern food out there. My entire family is a fan. We love it.

“First Time visit. Great and clean restaurant environment. The weather was perfect for three huge outside dining patio they have. I was solo so got a bar spot and dodged the 15+ waiting to be seated. I was hard pressed to pick between Menu bbq or buffet. After a quick perusal the buffet chicken bog said pick me. The bog had baby carrots in it. And was very gummy. Needed a pinch of Salt. Wonderful wood smoke smell as soon as I exited my car on arrival. However it didn't make a huge memory on first bite of que. The collards and Green Beans were both very flavorful. Brunswick stew tasted very good, but don't expect a juicy "stew" on the buffet, it was very moist, but didn't need a spoon to eat it. My bartender was amazing a true triple threat. She handled to go offers, bar drinks and bar dining tables like a champ! Super friendly, smiling, and always moving with a purpose. Not sure I would come back for the food. This was a destination diner as I was traveling. It was quick and easy, buffet at 13.49 IMO was priced too cheap. (No drink inc tho) This was a solid 3.5. border line 4 for cleanliness and the work ethic of the bartender.“

“I’m reminded of nearly fifteen years ago, when I stopped in for a visit with one of my great aunts telling me about this place. I remember her saying how good the food was, and especially the yams! We spoke more on the subject, and I told her that I would come back one day to pick her up and we’d go out to eat together and try the food out. Unfortunately, she passed shortly after, so I never got the chance to indulge such a hearty experience with her, however in spirit always! So, I decided after all these years to give them a try even though, I became vegan almost a year ago, but it’s been trying but I had a “cheat” day and gave them a shot! Oxtails/white rice & gravy, broccoli casserole, macaroni and cheese, stewed turkey wing, meatloaf, yams, and cornbread! Haven’t had a great meal like this in quite some time and it was well worth the wait! The staff were very kind, and the atmosphere was very nice! The food however… I’m a decent cook myself, and this was very reminiscent of my own cooking tbh. I was beyond impressed, I will definitely have to pay another visit very soon to try more menu items.“
