“Arrived right at our reservation time and was seated immediately. It was early and not busy but by the time we left they were completely full. The waiter showed up moments after we were seated with water and explained the menu and specials. We ordered the cheese plate and thought the serving size was appropriate and well worth the price. Not to mention the bread was incredible. Our meals were both great. The pork chop was juicy and tasty. My wife felt it was the best she's ever had. She ordered the steak (NY Strip) and while it was cooked perfectly, it wasn't overly special and could have used seasoning. However her sides were excellent. The service was great and it was worth the cost. It's slightly above normal pricing for a couple bur reasonable and worth the cost.“
“The food was okay taste wise. It was hot when it came out and the staff was very patient and kind. They stayed on top of everything with our table checking on us often. It was a nice quiet place to grab some food. The service was great and just because of that I would recommend it. Nothing wrong with the food it was just a little bland.“
“Love love love!! There isn't a lot to say about this wonderful restaurant that hasn't already been said. The service was spectacular, the menu was excellent, prices weren't bad, and the food was stellar. The different salt and pepper shakers at every table set a cute aesthetic feeling, making the place feel homely. Everything there felt homemade, and nothing was giving defrosted. Even the pesto pasta felt homey. Can't wait to go back!!“
“Food: Delicious sauces, one for all different flavor pallets. Meat was very tender. Best part of the meal! I'm not a huge fan of baked mac in cheese, theirs is very cheesy. So if you like super cheesy mac with it being cheese heavy at the top, this is for you. I was a little disappointed with the rice. I'm a rice fanatic, and theirs seemed a little over seasoned and a little dried out. I would be willing to give it another shot, though, along with trying out some of the other various side options they have available.Service: Very nice people, explained the menu. Gave me a realistic waiting time and provided outstanding customer service. Good Job ??Atmosphere: Small little BBQ spot. They provide a few tables inside, but it seems more really like a spot you just pick up from, which I'm totally fine with. I honestly only made it outside to my car before I began to devour my meal, though. Can't wait to see these owners eventually get a larger space where more seating is accommodating.“
“The food was amazing and the service was great! We had to wait for about 30 minutes as a group of four to be seated but to us it was worth it. We all ordered different food and no one was upset with what the got.Parking: While you probably are not supposed to a lot of people parked at the food lion across the street and walked over.“
“I always wish I could give 1/2 stars because some things are not worth the full star, but this will do. My husband and I enjoyed our experience. It was our first time eating here. It is a bit pricey so if you're on a budget I don't recommend going or only go for special occasions. We enjoyed our drinks and the cheese board. My husband got quail and waffles, which he loved. I got the bbq plate with ribs. I liked the bbq, but the ribs are smoked, and that's not my thing. Also, the mustard bbq sauce they put on it is a bit spicy, and I'm not one to eat a lot of spicy stuff. I am gluten-free, and I had contracted them beforehand about their options, which they have. I told the waiter I was gluten-free, and that is an allergy, but I was still served 2 rolls on my plate. I just removed the rolls and didn't make a big deal about it, but the waiter didn't even recognize the error when he came and checked on us. We also had the strawberry ice cream for dessert. You are quite packed into the place, so people sit very close to you, making for a not so intimate atmosphere. We overall enjoyed our experience and will probably go back in the future.“
“Sam, the owner is SO kind! I had an issue with my loaded fry. My fries were fried really hard which make them crunchy and not enjoyable to eat. I did not know the name of the food truck nor did I have the contact information to contact the owner. I also didn't feel like driving back to the food truck once I got home because it was so busy. I kept the food for a week in hopes to see her the following Friday. I drove to town that Friday and she was in the same location so I spoke to her about my issue. Even though, I did not have the food with me to show her proof they I wasn't trying to get over, she still replaced the food. I could tell she was skeptical while conversing but she still decided to rectify the issue because she appreciates her customers. This was my second time earing at the food truck and I must say I will be a long time customer. She is professional, has extraordinary service, and the food is delicious!! YOU MUST TRY IT!!!“
“The food here is great early in the morning after a night out. I like it for lunch and dinner too but I'm mostly on the breakfast crew. My Daughter and I walk over to Thicket once a week before school. We've been going here for 12 years. The thing that stands out even more than the food is this place has the best service in the city. I frequently give 100% tips here because the wait staff is so excellent. The ambiance is dated but perfect for a Southern Diner. Keep in mind on Saturday and Sunday morning this place is a madhouse. Any other time of day you'll find ample seating and the friendliest staff in Columbia.“
“Although the music was jazz, it was way too loud specially for people that wear hearing aids. The food was very good. It was nice to see prime rib on the menu and would love to see that again on Mother's Day, which we have already booked! Thank you to all of your people that work on this day, it makes Easter nice for us“
“First time here and it was a great experience. Fried pickles made to order. Chicken tenders and fries were hot hot, even mid afternoon. The slim sauce (think zaxbys or raising canes but sweeter) and ranch were both good. I also liked the flavored teas, I got raspberry tea. Excited to return and try their milk shakes, wings, and sauces.Parking: Smaller parking lot (~15 spaces or so) but located near Starbucks and Walmart.Kid-friendliness: Seemed like a kid friendly restaurant. Quick-serve restaurant.Wheelchair accessibility: Several handicap spaces available in front.“
“I have been wanting to come here for a while since we visit Columbia with relative frequency, and I know it is a local chain. This place has a lot of southern-style dishes, and they even say so in their menu in the way that they cook with pork in their vegetables so some of their sides are not vegetarian. I appreciate any place that calls mac and cheese a vegetable as opposed to a side! I got the one meat and two vegetables plate, which was $10. The meal comes with cornbread or rolls, but I was with two others so we got a mix of both. I'm not a huge cornbread fan, so I didn't try any, but the rolls were good with butter. For my meal, I chose the chicken fried steak as my meat and the mashed potatoes with brown gravy and macaroni and cheese as my vegetables. Our server was Eliana, who was very attentive and nice! The food came out within 10 minutes. The portions were great for $10, and the food was savory and tasted great. I really liked the chicken fried steak, and the white gravy on top was nice. The mashed potatoes with the brown gravy were flavorful and savory. The macaroni and cheese had a good consistency. All in all, I really enjoyed this dinner. The price was really good for a dinner- and the taste and service were great too!“
“Last night my Mother, Daughter, & I went to dine in at Poogan's and let me state how this place Exceeded our Expectations from the cleanliness, décor, & quiet atmosphere !! We were welcomed & greeted by Tara whom made the BEST drinks & was very kind. Once seated, our waiter; Jalen assisted us and provided us with many suggestions all while waiting patiently as we decided. Jalen knowledge of the menu and level of service was Exceptional. As for the food; Every bite was delicious. We all enjoyed every bite. We would definitely return!!! Oh! Between us three; we had the Fried Chicken Dinner, Chicken & Waffle Meal, & A Salad... Outstanding!!! Thank You All~ Tierra“
“When visiting my parents, this has been my "go-to" soul food restaurant for over 25 years. The customer service is great, the food is good...always prepared well and seasoned right. There have been times when my food wasn't the best or my order was missing something. However, they always make things right. You're haven't been in business for over 45 years with 13 locations if you're not doing something right.“
“I worked here for many years and although I am not a fan of Mr. Robert Williams as he is mean to most of the staff, I am a fan of all the other Williams!! I do like the customers and I very much like the food! I must still give credit to the cleanliness of the restaurants and the quality of the food. The food is absolutely delicious! So I will not take away from that. My favorites are Flounder, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, collards, beef stew…. Oh! The salads are amazing with the fried chicken and egg! Omlets are good, don’t really like the bread anymore, that is probably because I ate it from the age of 16-30 haha. Nice friendly atmosphere from the customer perspective and good service! If you ever run into Mr. Matt Williams; He is one of the kindest people I ever met! John Williams too! They are wonderful people.I would suggest if you are looking for great service and food do go here… if you have the pleasure of being waited on by Gloria, Marilyn, April, or Genie…. You will truly get great service, and the food is always yummy!Cheers to Southern Food and a nice atmosphere to dine in, if you must get it to go, most locations have a drive through. Best Manager overall, “Dalton”.!Thanks for reading my review, and hope you decide to eat here, so that you know true Southern Food and Hospitality!Parking: Parking is A okay!Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly environment, not sure if they still provide the crayons and paper but I do believe so!Wheelchair accessibility: There is an easy way near the front door to have wheelchair access at each location.“
“Easily the best wings I had since I moved to Columbia, and I came from Atlanta so that should tell you a lot. The owner told me if I wasn’t satisfied she’d give me my money back and I can say I woulda paid twice if I had to! That good. And the prices were fair.“
“I had an amazing experience with the crab legs – it felt like heaven! The Jamaican jerk butter was absolutely amazing – you have to try it! My daughter enjoyed the chicken tenders and fries, which were so delicious. Everything was seasoned to perfection! The service was fantastic, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. I can't remember the last time I finished all my food from a restaurant. Looking forward to returning for more delightful meals!“
“Stopped in to purchase gift cards only, but then a server came out with sweet cream corn nuggets and platters of fried green beans for another customer. FRIED GREEN BEANS, y’all!! Never in my life had I had these. So I ordered some to go (it’s on the menu as an appetizer), and before I remembered to take a food pic, they were GONE! Crispy, hot, and not at all greasy—served with ranch dressing! Yummy—it was large enough for a meal. Service was excellent, and purchasing the gift cards was quick.Parking: Parking spots all around the restaurant, plenty of handicapped spots as well…“
“Dined at Midlands because I was in the hotel for a conference. Service was very good. Our attendants made sure we had everything we needed with a smile. Not always easy when you have a large group. Food was okay, not bad, just not great either. Most of us shared our dishes with each other to taste a little of everything.“
“I’ve lived in the Columbia neighborhood of Earlewood for years and never knew about this gem!Staff are excellent, super friendly. The meatloaf is amazing, also enjoyed the greens, broccoli casserole, macaroni and cheese, too! 6 stars if I could!“
“My family and I are out of towners we were on a college tour weekend. We were late getting into Columbia and wanted a good dinner. The reviews led us to Mr. Friendly's. It was a Saturday night, and we had no reservations, but were there late and so there was a table available. The experience started with the helpful woman at valet. She was so friendly and accommodating. She recommended the fried green tomatoes, which were great. The appetizers and mains were excellent, but the sides of creamy grits and greens were the best I've had. They also had a great beer and wine selection and excellent pricing. Definitely a satisfying experience, and I would go back again anytime.“
