“Black Rooster is in a great location just across the Gervais St bridge. There is plenty of parking next to or in the free public lot behind. The ambience is very crisp and cute without being tacky. The “doodles” on the wall are fun to look at while you’re there. We had the roasted beet appetizer, the whipped ricotta appetizer and the escargot appetizer. All three were delicious. I’m not sure which was my favorite. I had the Fields of Benevento cocktail which was light and really delicious. The chicken Parmesan was enormous and served on a plate with broccoli rather than baked. The flavor was a little bland but still enjoyable. The Royale with Cheese was a big hit with the other two diners (though they both said order extra Dijonaise with it). We tried the pistachio crusted ricotta cake and the butterscotch pudding for dessert. Both were delicious. The ricotta cake is flourless and not very filling. It comes with a scoop of sorbet as well. The butterscotch pudding was heaven but very rich. I recommend multiple spoons for the desserts. Our service was absolutely incredible. Drew was our server and his personality was amazing. Very attentive without being annoying or hovering. He definitely made the experience more enjoyable. (I forgot pics of the appetizers)“

“What! As a patron way back in the Food Lion strip mall days, this was hands down the best buffet in town, & sad when they closed. I watched when they broke ground on this new location. I couldn't be the first to enjoy since now I have an autistic child of habit, new isn't easy for us. Using my Super Mama powers, we went for lunch on his birthday in January. I do not have enough room on here to describe the ambiance, cleanliness, kindness, etc... Lucas & I will NOT EVER eat out anywhere else, not even fast food joints kids are attracted to. You get your own hibachi chef, sushi buffet with chef, "traditional" American foods, full salad bar, bars full of Chinese & Chinese-American foods, soups, desserts, superior service, a really undescribable without experiencing for yourself just daily lunch. So much deliciousness to even attempt to enjoy in a 2-hour visit for the price of chicken nuggets, fries, drink, & shake at fast food joints! If the lunch is mind (gut) blowing, supper must be out of this world! Soon. I have to judge many places by staff because of my son, who not only rolled out the red carpet for him/us, but innumerable amounts of other-abled folks, which is important to me. I have traveled & eaten at many places. I now have built-in ADA EYE. My eyes have never, ever, laid eyes on wait staff, or owners, who help a blind person or someone in a wheelchair get tabled and then helped with food selections, plating, and seated to enjoy. Care, respect, not enough words for this either. I have heard the owners waited 15+ years, raising $1,000,000 to create a dream for themselves and their patrons. Where in Columbia, Lexington, Orangeburg, Sumter, Charlotte, Augusta, Greenville, Charleston, Atlanta, and so on, can you get the same? Send me a Gmail & we will talk! Prove me wrong, I will buy your supper & eat a plate of octupi!“
“After being in line at Rosewood location for an extremely long time (no fault of the single employee working - she was doing her best), we decided to drive the 4.1 miles to the Center Street location…and wow, happy jubilant young lady met us at the drive up window and took our order. It’s a quick ride over from Rosewood if waiting in mid day heat is a little much for you.“

“Mai Thai is one of my favorite sit-down Asian restaurants in the area. They have a very calm, relaxing atmosphere and the food is delicious. The service was slow on my most recent visit, but I wasn't in any rush to go anywhere afterward so it wasn't a big deal to me.“

“I didn't fall in love with Cafe Streudel, even though my waitress was amazing. I didn't think the food or ambience was anything special. My omelette was average as were my sides ....I expected to love it and wanted to buy Columbia has much newer and greater breakfast spots“

“The sandwiches are good. I also loved the salad bar. They do it for you but she added more to the bowl than I might have. She did an awesome job and the salad was the highlight of my meal. I do love the Dixie darling. It's a little different but I love multiple flavors at once.“

“We went to celebrate our anniversary. We were greeted with kindness, understanding, and genuine care. Alex was a fantastic server and the other wait staff were very attentive. He knew what to suggest on the menu and provided us with great options. Our steaks were delicious and the sides (baked corn and lobster mac-n-cheese) were so tasty. We left with our bellies full and feeling well taken care of. Such an amazing place to go for date night or a special occasion.“

“This was a dinner date and the service and food were spot-on! The server was very observant and left us alone unless she saw a need! She made great suggestions for wine pairings. The food, the wine, and the atmosphere made for a great evening and date.“
