“To be honest, I lived in Texas for a few years and my hopes for Memphis Mexican restaurants were not high. However, I’m pregnant and I was craving authentic Mexican food really bad. I looked at photos of every Mexican restaurant in Memphis to try to find the one that looked like the most authentic atmosphere and I landed on El Mezcal. We showed up on Saturday night at 7pm and were seated immediately. The second we were seated, they already brought us chips and salsa and were asking for our drink orders. We unfortunately didn’t catch our server’s name, but it was her first day and she was absolutely on top of it. We ordered nachos with chicken, Burritos Azteca, and Fajitas. I don’t remember the type of fajitas, but it had chicken, shrimp, steak, and cactus on it. All the food was absolutely phenomenal, large portions, and by far worth the cost, which was only right under $60. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, definitely the best experience I ever could have hoped for. Thank you!“

“food ordered was flavorless. chicken burrito had rubbery texture. poor service, very slow. given wrong drinks, had to order something else. ordered rice, never received , not charged though. Over priced menu. Waiter doesnt understand English or speak it well , a barrier for sure. Policy to demand including tip charge of 15% is ridiculous, especially since the service isn't good enough! Definitely wasted $73 for 3 people!“

“So I planned a last minute birthday dinner for my husband. I stopped by Monday and asked if they could seat about 30 people and they happily said yes! (We had more than that show up and they accommodate us! My mother n law and sister in law got there before us to decorate and the restaurant had all tables moved to seat us all together and already had chips and salsa on the tables! Everything was amazing!!! My husband thought we were just meeting his parents for dinner. So they were sitting up front waiting for us to arrive and the restaurant played along too asking us how many and taking us to the table! My husband had no idea! He couldn’t see anyone! Everyone was seated behind the wall in the front entrance! Everyone who was working was absolutely amazing! Smiling and kind!! They did a great job taking orders, getting food out to us very quickly and taking care of everything we needed! Even putting our desserts in the fridge for us to lighting the candles singing happy birthday and even signing his number 40! It was just an amazing experience! I highly recommend them! “I came here at 12:20 in desperation for a good soft taco supreme or 3 and was met the swift and immaculate service. With in mere minutes I had a world class meal at my finger tips served with charm and a smile free of charge. 10/10 recommend these are the places that restore our faith in humanity !“
