“Attended the Taste of the Yucatan private event here on Nov 12, 2024. This was a great intro for locals to get to know a fairly recent entry onto the 12 South scene-- and let me tell you they made a very compelling case for why they should be the Go-To neighborhood spot for area diners. Out of town foodies will love it too, but the owners really wanted to pitch local with the event. The menu for the evening featured flavors from the Yucatan peninsula, which also pull from the Caribbean apparently. The flavors on many of the plates were complex, yet some of the dishes had a home cooked vibe, like a handed-down family recipe-- made new by Chef Santibañez. Cocktails, wine, and other bar offerings were all exceptional. Overall, the food was stunning, and the entire evening was a treat. Another notable highlight was the service: having well-trained and attentive servers add to the atmosphere seems rare to find these days, but Fonda fielded a great crew for the event. Lastly, as a local, one of the more frustrating challenges in convincing my wife and I to go out in Nashville for dinner is dealing with parking, especially in areas like 12 South. Some friends who also attended were able to walk over from their home near Belmont, while we drove over from Green Hills. So a huge asset (for me) is that Fonda has their own parking right behind the restaurant! And it's validated! I highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit.“

“Quaint little Mexican cafe. We came across this place by happenstance. And boy, their food is terrific. The queso is creamy and delicious. And we really liked their chips and salsa. The fajitas come out steaming and hot. I highly recommend this place for legit Mexican fare.

Parking: This is in a strip mall so plenty of parking.

Kid-friendliness: Yes, they have a bar, however a majority of the seating is family style.

Wheelchair accessibility: This is all one level so all good for wheelchairs.“

I stopped by San Luis Taqueria in Nashville on a whim for a late afternoon lunch, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. I ordered four tacos Mexican-style with the addition of tomatoes, and I was impressed with the quality. The tortillas were homemade, which added a delightful, authentic touch to every bite. The tacos were perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor.

I also tried a sope, and it was exceptional—rich, savory, and wonderfully crafted. The accompanying red and green hot sauces were the perfect complements, offering just the right balance of heat and flavor without overwhelming the dishes.

Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was spotless. Both the dining area and the bathroom were immaculately clean, which speaks volumes about their commitment to maintaining high standards. Puebla belongs to the east-central Mexico region. This state in Mexico, borders states like Veracruz, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Morelos... The city of Puebla is the state capital and a major commercial center. City Tacos Mexican food is very different, extremely authentic and the cost is as humble and wonderful as the people that prepare your meal. Not a luxurious setting, (inside a convenience store) but foodies like me view it like taking a trip to Mexico, visiting my friend's Mama's home, and eating her food made with love.“
