“I came to visit Know Better Coffee in Mountain City TN. I am from Michigan but I have to leave a review!! I’m so glad to have walked into a place where you immediately feel peace, hospitality, and comfort. It was like visiting family there!! Next, I got two drinks (one to go), plus, muffins, and two bags of whole bean coffee - all was high quality and amazing! The uplifting handwritten note on my coffee cup just really made me smile! 😊 I highly recommend this place. I wish I could get shipments of the coffee to Michigan. Go visit if yall are in the area! It’s worth it.”

“My wife and I had the Dragon bowl and the Acerola smoothie. Both were absolutely delicious! The bowls were bigger than others we have had in the area and the fruit was so fresh that I thought they were growing it in the back! Jessica and Mike are the best and they are so welcoming that you feel like you have known them for years. Next time, and there will be MANY more next times, I'm going to add cacao nibs. I think the chocolate would add another mood boosting layer to my already insanely healthy breakfast. This kept me going all the way to lunch and I even skipped coffee! I can't wait to go back to Seaboard Station Palm Berries and try the next bowl.”

On our second trip to Boone, we pulled up to the café and were struck by that déjà vu sense of comfort an immediate excitement that confirmed we’d found one of the High Country’s true gems. This was our second visit, and once again Hatchet proved itself to be among the best coffee purveyors in the region. The line was long, but the anticipation only added to the ritual; after all, we had a 45-minute drive ahead to Grandfather Mountain, and good coffee was non-negotiable. At the counter, the staff embodied the kind of hospitality that makes a place unforgettable. The cashier was warm and attentive, quick to ask questions when she didn’t have an answer, and genuinely excited to help. I had come to swap ground beans for whole, and while the exchange wasn’t possible, they graciously sent me home with a bag of Brazilian beans instead a gesture that spoke volumes about their passion and care. Despite the bustle, the wait was brief, and the atmosphere remained convivial. One of the baristas even struck up a conversation with me about my jacket, a small but meaningful interaction that elevated the experience beyond the cup. Hatchet Coffee is more than a café it’s a community hub, a place where quality and connection meet. With its exceptional brews, thoughtful staff, and welcoming spirit, it’s the kind of spot you’ll find yourself returning to again and again.”

I highly recommend making this your go-to lunch spot, volunteering your time (or a few dollars if you're able), and spreading the word about what this incredible, selfless team is doing. “I usually don’t write reviews because…oh, well…time, life…but for Local Lion coffee shop I want to do it because it’s one of the places that truly deserves all the praises. Me and my family are not doughnut fans by any means, we eat a doughnut maybe once a year. We are coffee lovers though (me and my husband, not the kids, lol). However, I got a craving of a doughnut and decided to look for a place that has doughnuts, while being in vacation (we live in Charlotte but we were visiting Blowing Rock/Boone area recently) and found Local Lion on the map. I am so glad I did! The coffee was good, we also bought some custom tea blends from them that are exquisite and the doughnuts were excellent. Something so delicious…I will be dreaming of them for a while and I will definitely go back. Plus the kindness of the people working there…everything makes that place worth checking it out. They didn’t sponsored me or nothing, it’s just a happy customer review.”
