El Patio Restaurant offers a nostalgic atmosphere, thanks to its experienced management. The food is generally good, with customers praising the really good chips, shells, and enchiladas. The bean and cheese taco, served on a flat shell called chalupas or tostadas, is highly recommended. This is an old school Austin hole in the wall serving Texas style Tex Mex. Come hungry, get some cheese enchiladas, chips, salsa and of course a taco. The $20 pitchers of margaritas on Thursdays remain a popular draw, with extra points for taco Tuesday. The restaurant's tortilla chips are described as some of the best, light and crispy, earning high praise from loyal customers. While the service can be a bit slow at times, the restaurant still retains its charm and historic significance. The decor features Texas Longhorn memorabilia, adding to its nostalgic charm, and many customers have returned multiple times, appreciating the generous portions and cozy atmosphere.
