I have not been to a restaurant in a long time where I truly felt it was a unique culinary experience and you can really feel how much love the chef is pouring into each entree. Worth every penny.

Be aware that this is modern Asian food integrated with Austin flavors. If you want something traditional, this might not be for you. But, take it from me, you should give it a try with an open mind. Best food in Austin. I never leave reviews, but felt compelled to write this since it was so so so good.“

“Our family of 6 went to celebrate my husband’s birthday . The ambiance was beautiful and the service was outstanding. We were familiar with the chef from winning Top Chef and it was high on our Austin visit to dine at this restaurant. The experience was lovely, the food innovative & artistically presented , more importantly.. absolutely delicious! Our family loves to share plates , so this was perfect . “I went for the $25 sunday steak special and was not disappointed. The steak was rather large and cooked well. I also ordered a salad and a crème brûlée, which were also delicious. Atmosphere of the restaurant is very cool and all of the staff look very hipster. Great ambience and a great menu.“

“Tonight we dined at Maie Day and Josh was an exceptional server from start to finish! It was our first time at the restaurant and he walked us through everything on how to order and when. Our cups and plates never went empty and he had fabulous recommendations. He went above and beyond with my 2 year old nephew. My nephew stayed well-behaved for 2.5 hours so we could all enjoy ourselves thanks to the bowls of ice Josh would bring periodically for him to chomp on. Everyone left happy and full of phenomenal food and drink. We are still blown away that we could dine for over 2.5 hours with a 2 year old with no problems. We are ready to recommend Maie Day to all of our friends - I hope they have Josh as their server when they go!“

“I went here with a group of friends, 3 of whom are wheelchair users. Our waiter, Anna, was phenomenal. She made sure our order met our dietary needs (even went to the kitchen to check on an ingredient) and made sure we could fit comfortably around the table. She checked on us frequently, but didn't overwhelm us.“

“The staff is so nice. I got the sliders(2) this second time I was here for HH and they're very decently priced(along with the rest of the HH) and they're really good. The first time i was here, I had the short ribs which were "off menu" but that was cooked perfectly as well. The bar area is huge, I do know it can get packed later in the night!“

“I want to give a shout out to a wonderful new restaurant here in South Austin, specifically the Brodie/Slaughter area. It's called The Local, and it's a delight. The decor is warm and inviting--no chrome or glass and no tvs blaring sports. We were pleased to see that the place was busy at 7 on a Tuesday, it's such a welcoming sound. The food was perfectly prepared and artfully presented, simple, no frufru. The service was terrific, sharp, prompt and helpful. We met the owner and were delighted to learn that this is not part of a chain or even a 'group' as they call them now, but a single family operation. We'd love to see them succeed, if only for the slightly selfish reason that it's nice to go to a good restaurant without having to drive a long way. It's just a few minutes down the street and you may be sure we'll be going back. We need more of these kinds of joints down here. Fair warning, it's not cheap, but then what is these days?“

“Our server Troy was awesome. The Congress Burger was not very good for $22. The Turkey BLT for $19 was very good. One draft Stash IPA was $15 compared to a Blue Moon for $8. I commend the staff for the extra time and expense it takes to work in the airport.“

“We visited "STELLA SAN JAC" during our Austin trip... and we had a great time. We tried several of the best and most inspiring cocktails we've ever tasted. Manager Edwin put us at ease with the best comfortable service, and every cocktail he recommended we were very impressed with. “Considering that I'm a vegetarian and this is (obviously) a very meat-y restaurant, this was a very good experience. Staff were friendly and welcoming, the decor is elegant, the semi-outdoor seating was pleasantly breezy on a hot day (I could do without the huge TVs, but that's me). I simply wanted to get a quick drink with an old friend and we chose Carve purely because of its location. We arrived during their happy hour (which starts at 3:00). We ordered a couple of tasty cocktails and an order of the cheesy cauliflower sticks -- delicious! The happy hour prices certainly made me happy, and the charming waiter checked back in at sensible intervals and remained good humored and attentive even when it must have become obvious that we were not going to be ordering more. I noticed that the menu includes some attractive vegetarian/vegan options and will bear Carve in mind for family celebration meals where there are carnivores as well as vegetarians to feed. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that they failed to include the tip I thought I'd added to the credit card slip and I realized when I checked my account that I hadn't left a tip at all -- apologies if that was my fault!!“
