“I want to give a shout out to a wonderful new restaurant here in South Austin, specifically the Brodie/Slaughter area. It's called The Local, and it's a delight. The decor is warm and inviting--no chrome or glass and no tvs blaring sports. We were pleased to see that the place was busy at 7 on a Tuesday, it's such a welcoming sound. The food was perfectly prepared and artfully presented, simple, no frufru. The service was terrific, sharp, prompt and helpful. We met the owner and were delighted to learn that this is not part of a chain or even a 'group' as they call them now, but a single family operation. We'd love to see them succeed, if only for the slightly selfish reason that it's nice to go to a good restaurant without having to drive a long way. It's just a few minutes down the street and you may be sure we'll be going back. We need more of these kinds of joints down here. Fair warning, it's not cheap, but then what is these days?“

Manager Edwin put us at ease with the best comfortable service, and every cocktail he recommended we were very impressed with. I will definitely recommend my friends to visit this place, I want to go back and try the cocktail again on my next business trip.“

It took over 30 mins just to get the one round of mimosas we ordered and I even ordered a second one but had to cancel it because it never came out. We also waited a very long time for our food. Our waitress was nice but too slow on getting everything out. Was dissatisfied.“

Looks like they have live music here nut breakfast was peaceful. Coffee was good too. Only thing to know before you go is that on weekends breakfast I think starts at 9am.“

“The service is friendly and accommodating, the vibe casual and fun. We had the Adult Happy Meal and had nothing but praise for all of the components: Old Fashion, hamburger and fries. Between the six of us we ordered three desserts. The cheesecake was excellent. Unfortunately the creme brule was runny and room temp and the chocolate mousse lacked real chocolate flavor. Overall, we loved our dining experience and will definitely return.“

“My friends and I went tonight for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday. The atmosphere was exquisite, staff was impeccable, food was amazing and the Manager Elliot was so awesome!!! For the dining experience we had, they should be charging 2-3x more for their food and we would gladly pay it. It is a small restaurant so reservations are needed to make sure they have availability. I highly recommend The Carillon Restaurant, it’s truly a gem. We will be back very soon 😋“
