“Oh man. Where to begin. After all of the positive reviews and being within spitting distance from my house, I had to give them a whirl. First of all, everyone there was so cool, friendly and helpful. The lady explained the menu to me, being relatively new to birria. Everything was made fresh, so a typical maybe 20 minute wait time, which was pretty reasonable. Everything was hot and fresh. Got home and unpacked the bag. Do not tilt the taco bags! I spilled taco juice all over my shorts because I tilted the bags the wrong way. Don't be dumb like me. These are kind of messy so expect some spillage and drippage. I ordered the 5 taco combo, which came with a good sized cup of consume. I got a healthy helping of cilantro, onions and a lime wedge as well as some hot sauce (didn't try yet) and an ice cold canned drink. The tacos were enjoyably crispy on the outside. They were fully stuffed with tender flavorful beef and gooey jack cheese. The consume was very good. Perfect for dipping but it didn't overwhelm any of the other flavors and it is like a broth rather than a sauce, so it's very light and not heavy like a gravy. I tried the tacos pure and had a couple left over to try with the onions and cilantro and other fixings later. A crisp cold Dr. Pepper went really well with everything too. All in all this was a 10/10 experience. I will be returning. Many many many times. EDIT: Returned today. Same outcome. Love the food. So fresh and juicy and delicious. 3 tacos is my way to go for me to get full but not overstuffed. Still a solid 10/10.“

We ordered a couple Angus brisket tacos, a spicy tikka chicken taco, Mexicali shrimp taco, and a kids chicken quesadilla. Man...whoever was in the kitchen making these...keep doing it this way. We've been eating Velvet Taco for 14 years now. It used to always taste THIS way, but many locations gradually started going downhill, with a few hits here and there, but more misses than anything. But today was a refreshing reminder of what Velvet Taco used to taste like. Please keep this up. To the unknown taco maker/chef in the kitchen who made our order tonight, thank you so much. This is the best we've had from Velvet Taco in years. Also the kind individual at the window who confirmed our order was correct was a nice nod in a good direction. “My only complaint is that they aren't open later. I work until they close and I hardly get a chance to go. The trompo burger is always good and the sausage and potato meals are top choices for me.
