Extremely rude and unprofessional staff.
The attempt to make this a “fine dining” establishment has ruined this restaurant. Have been going here for 20+ years and it is sad to see how unfriendly and unprofessional this establishment has become. There are no accommodations for large parties unlike other “fine dining” establishments. If your grandson calls you during dinner you will rudely be handed a little card. The menu is subpar at best. Hillstone offers a consistently excellent dining experience with great food quality and service. The restaurant is well hidden by huge trees but has good parking and a valet. It has a classic feel with a crisp, clean interior, dimmer lighting, and a healthy buzz, making it a popular spot for business lunches. The booth seating is nice with high backs, providing a sense of privacy. The wait staff are smartly turned out, very efficient, and attentive. The food is always so good, with generous portions and beautiful presentation. Specific meals enjoyed include the GRILLED CHICKEN SALAD with field greens, jicama, honey-lime vinaigrette, and peanut sauce; a perfectly prepared Filet; the French dip made with prime rib; and the Ruby Star Salad. The food came out in a reasonable time frame and tasted good, though some feel it is a bit overpriced for the quantity. The ambience cannot be beaten, and it is a favorite place in Houston for over 30 years, always a 5 star experience.
