Mercantile Reviews
Good location with a decent size parking lot. Additional parking on the street. The menu has unique and tasty coffee staples along with tea and seasonal drinks. The food items are limited and likely to run out.
This is my go to coffee shop. I used to live in the area and would come here to work, read or meet friends. After moving, I still make it a point to stop by. The coffee is great and the staff is always super friendly. They have great non-coffee drinks as well, seasonal drink specials, pastries, and tacos.
Its a pretty decent place for some coffee or tea! I got the iced hibiscus tea and loved it. The prices aren't too bad either. The coffee shop is nice and has many different places to study. I would definitely reccomend trying this place out.

Mercantile is a charming and cozy coffee shop in Montrose with a relaxed atmosphere. The baristas are friendly and the service is efficient. They offer tasty snacks and drinks, including arguably the best lattes in Houston, with the espresso always strong and good. The shop features plenty of seating and many plugs, making it a great place for remote workers to enjoy a good atmosphere to work and study while sipping a latte. The ambiance is laid-back, often filled with study groups, and the environment feels like stepping into a parallel universe, similar to nearby Blackhole Coffee. Mercantile has a Marzocco Strada espresso machine and serves fantastic mint tea, with high-quality hot water refills that customers appreciate. Their empanadas are popular and tend to run out early each day. The shop is open most holidays, reflecting the dedication of its employees. Parking can be hit or miss, but overall, it’s a lovely spot to enjoy some fresh air, good coffee, and a relaxed vibe. The place is dog friendly with free treats for pets. The environment is spacious, clean, and bright, with soft background music that makes it easy to concentrate. There is a variety of seating, including outdoor options, and plenty of power plugs for laptops. The wifi is reliable enough for most tasks, but not ideal for video calls. Overall, Mercantile is a cozy, welcoming space perfect for relaxing, working, or catching up with friends over good coffee and snacks.
