Perfect Morning Breakfast ☕️
I was craving a really good latte. I googled and found El Major Cafe. The reviews and pictures caught my attention. We were quickly greeted when we arrived and our server was attentive and friendly. The café was bustling with fellow breakfast enthusiasts, yet the ambiance remained relaxed and unhurried. It felt like the perfect spot to linger over a cup of coffee and enjoy the morning with my little family.

Oh my flipping goodness!! This place is amazing!!
This was a very good surprise! Food was very good and margaritas were great. So much for value we took home meals. Went to celebrate daughter’s passing with a Day of the Dead margarita and manager came out and gave me a special glass for her! This was so appreciated the extra care! Definitely will be back!

El Mejor Mexican Kitchen + Cantina offers a mixed experience, with some dishes like the quesadilla being quite good, while others like the fajita and brisket tacos fall short due to blandness possibly from store-bought tortillas. The sautéed veggies were a highlight. This restaurant is located downtown, and parking may require a bit of a walk, but there are plenty of options available. It is an almost hidden gem right off the square in historic downtown McKinney, spacious and well-appointed, with a full coffee bar in the back. Service has been noted as lacking, and there was some confusion about the restaurant's status. However, the spicy pineapple margarita and the El Mezcalero cocktail were flavorful choices. The table-side guacamole needed seasoning, while the table salsa strikes a good balance between smooth and chunky. Chips are crispy and fresh, and the accompanying sauces were delicious. Many visitors find the margaritas pretty awesome, and the food generally does not disappoint. The brisket tacos and fish tacos received good reviews, and the salsa was very good. The coffee was also highly praised, described as amazing. The atmosphere and staff are often noted as amazing, creating a welcoming environment. Overall, opinions on the authenticity and quality of the Mexican cuisine are mixed, but many enjoy the flavorful food and nice ambiance, making it a place many plan to return to.
