At the Bar Just Sit

“My husband and I come out here nearly every weekend for karaoke with their amazing KJ Heather. We fell in love with the atmosphere and the good hearted people and this has been our bar ever since. Heather’s KJ sound is one of the best we’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying (we’re very picky about our karaoke ?). And Tori (the bartender) is a ray of sunshine that is sure to light up your day! We love our bar “

“Okay - I think the general rules need to be established, as well as acknowledgment of the fact that we were there after church on Sunday. Deacon Baldy's, by my best estimate, is the bar area itself. The tenders kept the lines moving, and there was typically a line. I wish I'd counted the beers advertised; there must've been close to 50, and though I'm a simple, Bud Light kind of beer drinker, it was a great view! So, now the food...There were 5 different trailers there, and 4 were open. Remember, it was a Sunday. Trailer 1 was BBQ, "BBQ Godfather" I think - It was closed. That kind of hurt my heart. Number 2 was an Asian place that I don't recall the name of, but it looked like mostly messy food, for a messy eater such as me - I've got menu pics for clarification. Number 3 was a crawfish truck - my neices & family seemed to like them, but sadly, I did not partake. Number 4 trailer was Uncle Tony's Burgers - my wife and MiL had their food and were raving about it. Number 5 was my pick - "Raise Pizza & Eats" and where I got my pizza from. Simple order done extremely well - as much Peperoni as they felt would work, followed by enough cheese to make it nearly impossible to pull apart. They succeeded! The crust was a little light, but expected with the amount of toppings. All in all, I think it would be a solid 9 out of 10, IMO.“

“This was our first visit to The Refuge and we loved it all. Our table started with calamari and steak bites. Both were cooked and presented wonderfully. We had filet with crab, braised short ribs, the halibut special and the steak burger. Every dish was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Our dessert choices were cheesecake, chocolate mousse dish, the bread pudding and a spiced old fashioned. The presentation of the bread pudding was a show. Loved it! We woke up this morning talking about our next trip and what we would order. This is definitely on our list now.“

“This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back. It wasn't too crowded yet, and the lighting was perfect..not too bright, but not too dark. We came Saturday, April 20th around 4:30pm. Our server was Megan, and she was AWESOME! She stayed on top of everything and was very friendly. Our drinks were never empty and we never needed to ask for anything. The food came out hot and full of flavor. We were all very impressed.“

Sawgood Bar Bar • $
774477591, 23713 Nichols Sawmill Rd, Hockley - 7.12 miles

“The people are nice...the bartenders are good...I think the owners aren't familiar with bar business. I bartended there for 3 shifts...I've never been so scrutinized and over worked in my entire life. Been in bar biz for 18 years. No breaks, no relief for meal, nothing.12 hour shifts on feet.literally like 17 glasses in whole place, so I was constantly washing and serving, nobbarback, which was fine...but the place got kinda rowdy and the female owner seemed nonchalant about safety issues. Great location close to home and great prices. No food menus ...I was literally fired for taking a break after on my feet for almost 10 hours with zero break...oh, and the owners rude friend claimed i ignored her after i served her 4 drinks, because I had to use the bathroom. What do I know I'm just the TABC licensed and trained bartender. The nighttime bartender is cool and it seems more laid back because its not owner hangout drama...definitely cool spot close to home“

It’s a Sunday, and it’s my buddy’s birthday celebration who just happens to be running Karaoke today. He’s the first guy that introduced me to karaoke 24 years ago and we’ve had a friendship every since. So, in short, that’s why I came out to support him and his birthday at the same time. Cheers?“

“Great food & beer. Server was a bit off as far as speed and getting things right beer and bill wise. He was very nice and apologetic. They could use some tuning up as we waited quite a bit to get noticed & served. We will go back as the food was on point and the beers great. I recommend the beer flight.“

“If I could rate the service 6 stars, I would! I don't often find myself posting reviews, but when I get exceptional service like I did here with Devyn, I make it a point to give them the recognition they deserve. She did a great job of being personable with me and my table, while providing fast service. She is a great waitress who made our first experience with Tapped a great one. The food and drinks were also great, but I will request her next time we come in!“

“Embarking on my "ONLY FIRSTS IN 2024" journey I found myself at Bleu Oyster Bar and Seafood, a spot that had caught my eye back in 2018 upon moving to Texas yet had never visited. So it took almost six years for me to finally step inside. Upon entry, the cozy interior defied the grand exterior, creating an unexpectedly intimate ambiance that surpassed my expectations. Despite its seemingly fancy exterior, the inside felt warmly homely. Our party of 11 received a prompt and welcoming reception, even without a reservation. Grant, our exceptional server, elevated the dining experience with professionalism, attentiveness, and a genuine smile. He seamlessly anticipated our needs, offering valuable menu insights and accommodating all our requests. Grant's efficiency and personable approach contributed to a flawless dining experience, striking the perfect balance between presence and allowing us to savor our meal.Though one in our group wasn't a fan of the hamburger (an adventurous choice at a seafood restaurant), the diverse menu pleased the majority. Personally, I opted for Devils on Horseback, dirty rice, fried pickles, and onion rings—perhaps unconventional for a seafood spot, but they proved to be delightful choices. The Fried Pickles, Onion Rings, and Dirty Rice were exceptional, though the jury is still out on the Bleu Sauce accompanying the perfectly cooked Bacon-wrapped Scallops (Devils on Horseback).Would def. return to Bleu, but that will have to be in 2025 as I continue my ONLY FIRSTS in 2024.Come follow me and all my culinary adventures and more at colefamilyvalues on I G, the Tok, and the Tube!“
