“We dropped in for lunch Saturday 1/27/2024 our waitress was Hannah. We were greeted with a smile. Hannah took our drink order and returned quickly with our drinks. We placed our order and Hannah repeated it back making suggestions along the way. Hannah returned shortly with pipping hot rolls and cinnamon butter. Hannah checked back on us several times while food was being prepared. The food came and was prepared perfectly. I ordered the large Prime Rib (rare). The Prime Rib was prepared perfectly. The wife had Chicken Fried Sirloin which came out perfectly. The was brought out by a different server and in a moment Hannah came back to check on us. We had so much food we could not come close to eating it all. Hannah provided us with to go containers and small containers for the sides. Hannah by far was the best waitress that has ever served us. We will definitely be back and request Hannah for our waitress.”

“Food: Tried the Jalapeño fish. Great portion for the price. Crispy and delicious. Fried rice was good. Steak and broccoli not out of this world.

Service: Staff was nice. There was a line to order and the wait was not that bad since you can peruse around the Latin market too while you wait. Calling in to order might not work since they are so busy. I tried 4-5 times no answer. Found they just let it ring while they make the orders made in person.

Atmosphere: It’s literally a hole in the wall of a Latin market. Not the best waiting area either. No dine-in option. Take out only.

Overall: great food overall. I will come back to try out the other options they have on the menu. I think this place could grow to something bigger if they get another place to expand.”

But every time I come back to Beaumont to visit family, you’ll find me sitting at the bar, just like old times, because some places aren’t just restaurants—they’re home. And for me, Tokyo Steakhouse will always be one of those places. Seriously, they’re family and this is not just a review from an ex-employee, but an objective review of by far the best place I’ve ever worked (feels weird calling it that) - never felt like it. “Last night we tried this place out and I’ve been emotional ever since. My Grandmother/Mom’s side of family was Puerto Rican and Aubelita raised me while Mom worked. Aubelita was a Domican born Puertorriquena, my Tia married my Cuban uncle, and Caribbean Latino culture and food was my childhood. They’ve been gone for some years now and I miss everything about my childhood with the lively culture, the way every family gathering was a celebration, and I really miss the food. With all that being said, from the moment we walked in, I FELT a part of my youth for the first time in a long time. We were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes. The menu is extensive and offers more than I expected. I wanted everything but opted for mofonguitas, a chicken empanada, and rice with beans. My love ordered the chicken cheesesteak sandwich. We ordered to go and had a seat. The music played loudly, in true Latino fashion on a Friday night and at times, the entire establishment joined in singing their favorite parts with so much passion. Even though the music was at celebratory levels, it never felt like “bar” vibes, if that makes sense. They called out that our food was ready and as we left, it seemed like the whole staff had come to the front to thank us for coming in and ask us to come back! The friendliness is genuine. The good vibes are genuine. And the food, it was amazing. My boyfriend is already talking about our next visit and how delicious his sandwich was. I learned that they have pastelle! I haven’t had those since my early teenage years…my Uncle Ramon’s were always so good and comforting, and I have a feeling J&Z will fulfill my cravings with zero disappointment. Thank you. Thank you for giving me a taste of my childhood. Not just with the food, but the atmosphere and that Caribbean Latino welcoming love that is so unique and beautiful. I’ll be back soon and encourage everyone to give this place a try.”

The hostess had more compassion. We were offer a coupon for our next visit. We declined. No meal removed or refunded. We love to visit local establishments and support as often as we can. “Kind of a plain little restaurant with great fried shrimp and fish. I’ve done numerous call in orders. Staff never asks your name or gives a time when it should be ready. I always have to ask that. Just tell them what you ordered when you go in and they’ll get it out pretty quick. I’d recommend for the fish and shrimp as I haven’t tried anything else.”

“Had a great time here, good food, and friendly staff. Started off with chips and salsa. Salsa was great, amazing flavor with just the right amount of heat. We ordered the Chile con queso and the queso blanco, both were fine on their own but a little disappointing after the salsa. The Mexican Candy Margaritas were outstanding just be careful with this smooth cocktail it will sneak up on you. Our entrée was the Tamale deluxe perfectly cooked. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.”
