“I was in Dallas on business, staying at the Westin a few blocks away. It was my last night, I was tired, had an early flight in the morning, and just wanted a quick meal to take back to the room. A quick search showed this fried catfish spot nearby… so yeah, say less. I walked in expecting a basic neighborhood carry-out, but instead was greeted with some of the best service I’ve had in a while which was totally unexpected. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean, comfortable, and had good music playing. It was a good vibe so decided to eat in at the bar. I didn’t catch her name but the bartender was so nice and kindly walked me through the menu. I ordered a glass of wine and the 2-piece fillet basket. Good Lord, that fish was HOT and delicious! And when I say “fillet,” I mean a full piece of fish not broken up little scraps. Two big pieces were definitely more than enough, but it was so good I ate every bite. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip and will be telling my Dallas office this is the spot! Thanks for the great experience and wishing you all the best in your new location!“

From the moment Abuelo greeted and seated us, our experience was truly five-star. Authenticity like this is rare—both in the service and the food. The restaurant was spotless, the service was exceptional, and the prices were more than reasonable. Most importantly, the food was absolutely amazing!

“I have to change my review, this place used to be a great spot to just sit with friends and watch sports, then they hired a new bartender named Danny from Miami. This guy is a joke! He takes forever to make drinks bc he is non stop talking to other people, and forgets orders.
He vapes behind the bar when people are eating. I told the manager and nothing was done. Breaks glass that’s landed near my drink and I had a minor cut. Instead of doing anything about it I got one replaced drink.
When they actually see what this guy is doing behind the bar we might come back!
We now go across the street to juicy crab! Way better bartenders and no vapes while people are eating literally feet away. Do better“

My SO & I were celebrating a work accomplishment & she made us feel very special & cared for, & from the way she interacted with other customers, it seems she's just an all around great person. Food, drinks, everything was delicious. My first time trying raw oysters & I was very impressed, very clean tasting. Made the experience much easier for a first timer! “As a Chicago sweetheart, finding good fish in Texas is serious business and JJ Fish & Chicken absolutely delivered. The steaked catfish took me straight back home. Perfectly seasoned, tender, flavorful, and not overcooked like so many places get wrong.

What impressed me most was that authentic Chicago-style fish spot feel & da real mildsauce, the kind of place where the food speaks for itself. If you grew up on Chicago fish joints, you already know the standard is high. This is the first place in Texas that genuinely gave me that same comfort-food experience.

“Stopped by The Pelican House for some Louisiana Cajun flavor and it did not disappoint! I ordered the grilled seafood platter,super flavorful and cooked just right. You can really taste the seasoning in every bite. I also tried the peach cobbler, and it was spot on. Perfect balance of breading and peachesn not too heavy, not too sweet. Shoutout to Louis, the owner, for the great conversation and sharing some helpful advice about opening a restaurant. That personal touch made the experience even better. Definitely coming back!“

I was a little disappointed that they were out of the ox tails and beef tips by the time I got there around 2 pm but I had the smothered chicken, candied yams and collard greens, and I forgot all about wanting anything else after the 1st bite! That plate was heaven sent, the chicken literally fell off the bone and melted in my mouth!! And with the yams, I couldn’t hardly stop eating it even in the car on the way home.
