“I was in Dallas on business, staying at the Westin a few blocks away. It was my last night, I was tired, had an early flight in the morning, and just wanted a quick meal to take back to the room. A quick search showed this fried catfish spot nearby… so yeah, say less. I walked in expecting a basic neighborhood carry-out, but instead was greeted with some of the best service I’ve had in a while which was totally unexpected. It wasn’t fancy, but it was clean, comfortable, and had good music playing. It was a good vibe so decided to eat in at the bar. I didn’t catch her name but the bartender was so nice and kindly walked me through the menu. I ordered a glass of wine and the 2-piece fillet basket. Good Lord, that fish was HOT and delicious! And when I say “fillet,” I mean a full piece of fish not broken up little scraps. Two big pieces were definitely more than enough, but it was so good I ate every bite. I’ll definitely be back on my next trip and will be telling my Dallas office this is the spot! Thanks for the great experience and wishing you all the best in your new location!“

“My friend recommended this place, and I am so happy she did! So different than any other restaurant I’ve been to! I had three fish tacos. The fried cod taco was the best fried cod I’ve ever had, and it was a very large piece of fish. The second taco was a salmon taco that was also very good. It came with a habanero mango sauce, and I was afraid it would be too hot for me so she put it in a side bowl. It was not too hot, and the mango combination gave it the best flavor. The third taco was a shrimp taco that was also very good. Janette was our waitress and she was very kind and very helpful with our choices and checked on us numerous times. This is in an old historic building in Cedar Hill. I can’t wait till it gets cooler so I can sit out on their patio.“

“La Calle Doce is a gem! We went for Friday lunch and loved everything—the cozy, beautifully maintained old house, peaceful vibe, and excellent service. I had the lunch special with fish soup and a ceviche tostada, and my husband had the salmon salad. Both were incredible, and the spicy ranch waters were a fun bonus. Some of the best food I’ve had in Dallas—can’t wait to go back!“

“I came here after looking up Oxtails in Dallas and stumbling across Dre’s video. It was around 2:00 on a Sunday. I was going to order the Cabbage although greens are my favorite only bc Dre wasn’t a big fan of the greens, but they ran out of cabbage and yams which was my second choice, I was very disappointed. The oxtails are pretty good kinda blander than I’m used to and the gravy doesn’t help much at all, but I put some salt and pepper and honestly I’ll definitely come back again and the greens were AMAZING, kinda happy it was the last choice bc like I said they are my favorite. Service gets a 4 because I had to wait a little bit more than 10 minutes after they took payment - I prefer knowing that there's a wait before they take my money so I can decide if I'm willing to wait the extra time.

“First time here. It has been on my list to try. I initially wanted to get a whole catfish platter. They were out of whole catfish. So I got the catfish filet basket. The basket comes with fries, white bread, jalapeno pepper and pickles. I ate a fish steak on the way home. So it is not pictured.

I do think the crispy cornmeal fry on the fish is good. The fish on the inside seemed a bit dry. The fish could use more seasoning on the actual fish instead of just in the batter. Maybe a marinade before battering and frying.
The fries were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The start was the pickles. They have a uniquely flavored brine. I would totally come back for those and to try the whole catfish and see if there is a difference.“
