“In 2022, I took a 25,000 mile road trip to all four corners of the US. The joke was that Brownsville would be the fifth of four corners. On the way there I was tired, hot and hungry, and told myself I wanted tacos and a beer. When I saw the sign on the front of the restaraunt that read "Alex Tacos & Cerveza", a U-turn was made immediately. I was the only customer in the restaunt, and also the only English speaker in the building (that I encountered). Apparently my Spanish is so bad that the Modelo I ordered was served as a Michelob Ultra Light. That's ok, because the food was so darn good! Homemade chips were served with a smooth, orange colored salsa, the likes of which I have never seen before and was amazing. I don't recall the name of my tacos, but they were grilled beef, served with grilled and fresh white onions, cilnatro, lime, and yet another colorful salsa, this one lime green and tasty as can be. (I apologize to my hosts for not knowing the names of their amazing creations, but what's in a name when it tastes this good?) I live in New Mexico and am no stranger to really good tacos. I have sampled many during two trips around the country on my bike. The best tacos in the nation? I haven't any better so far!“
“The one in Rio is good but the one in Roma is awesome. We loved how they seem to heat the corn tortillas for the tacos on un comal. Added great texture and flavor. Service was quick and friendly. They're taco combos are delicious at a good price.“
“Very delish! Shout out to the Chef and our waitress! The have a small menu, which I appreciated. I ate with my Partners and let me say the visual of the food was good! I wanted to eat everyone's plate . It was our first time here and I haven't tasted a lot of there dishes, which is why I'm rating it a four star!“
“Been here several times, and each time I've had a good experience. I normally come here for breakfast, so I can only rate this place based on that. Breakfast plates are made as requested and served with refried beans. Tortillas are home made!!“
“A little cramped but great food and service. Many complain about no one answering the phone, so I go in person. I think it's time to expand the location; I have been going there since I was a child, left to McAllen 20 years ago, came back, and the location is the same size and same facade.“
“The food is amazing. This is by far my favioriate taco spot for Trompo. I love the Maras, which are a mixture of Trompo and Stake with cheese. They pair amazingly with their pineapple and habanero salsa. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Their facilities are clean and model a more traditional Mexican Taqueria with the Coke tables and chairs, which is quite nostalgic, IMO. If you're in the area, a must stop.“
