Went for the last few weekends cause it was closing to get their margaritas and corn bread!!
Food was very good; service could have been somewhat better. The restaurant is extremely noisy when full.
We took our college freshman granddaughter and her good friend for brunch / lunch on a Saturday. Food and service were both exceptional. Carriqui was our granddaughter's recommendation as her dad had taken her there several weeks before and it was close to Trinity University. We are glad she chose it. We will certainly return on another trip to San Antonio.
Carriqui is a fantastic dining spot in San Antonio, known for its beautiful and unique atmosphere that stands out from typical restaurants. The menu features upscale Mexican BBQ, presenting a delightful surprise for diners. The staff, including an excellent waitress with a wonderfully inviting personality, enhances the experience. The Ceviche is fresh and delicious, and the menu boasts must-tries like the venison, boar, and mesquite chicken. The wagyu fajitas come with a choice of flour or corn tortillas, while the fried fish tacos are also delicious. A standout side dish is the papas bravas, and a nice surprise is the corn cakes, which are similar to moist cornbread cupcakes with herb butter. Carriqui also offers a welcoming environment for special occasions, having spoiled a recent anniversary celebration with yummy mocktails, an appetizer, and dessert. The fish a la Plancha was delicious, and the BBQ platter was generous with leftovers. While the second building is beautifully decorated, it can have poor acoustics when filled, making conversation difficult. There is a nice patio and bar outside, which adds to the ambiance. The bartenders mix refreshing drinks like the house margarita, often available at a discount on Tuesdays. Overall, Carriqui delivers a memorable dining experience with high-quality ingredients and attentive service, making it a great choice for those seeking a unique twist on traditional Mexican food.
