“I went to the one in Portland 15 years ago and loved it. It was a pleasant surprise to find it 2 blocks from our hotel in San Antonio. They have a great variety of donuts that taste as good in the evening as the morning. We tried many varieties and they were all great.“

“Donut Palace is the place for Donuts, Kolaches and more. The staff is so professional, caring and accommodating. This shop is the best. The food taste like it is baked with love. I highly recommend the Jalapeno and Cheese Croissant and the Apple Fritters. My children love the small kolaches and blueberry cake donuts. They were sold out of our favorite Oreo donut (we got there at almost closing) and the owner offered to make them for us.. on the spot. My son smiled so BIG!“

Fresh Donuts is this nondescript little donut shop —and they are my favourite business in San Antonio.
This place isn't stylish; there's no "decor". But it is always immaculately clean; nothing out of place, everything tidy and orderly.
This isn't hipster donuts, where you're paying $5 for a "lavender mint cruller with salted caramel glaze"; they serve normal, traditional donuts here. But they are always fresh, always delicious, and always consistent: the donuts look like they could be photographed for an ad: perfectly shaped, uniform coverage of the icing, shiny glazes...

My favourite is the glazed blueberry cake donut, and I always add a chocolate ring with sprinkles, and the cost for TWO donuts is $2.70 including tax!

The atmosphere is off-putting, almost felt like I was in a prison. windows were littered with dead and dying bees, some bodies have actually been there long enough to flatten and turn into stains. Makes me wonder how long it's been since it was properly cleaned. Makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen.“
