Used to go all the time and talked this place up. This new location is a miss and unless they change, we will not be going back. The communal tables were not a good choice and tight packed. Food was mediocre. The noodles looked and tasted like cut up lasagna. Chili noodles were straight chilis and oil, no other flavor and just coated your mouth. Hot Joy is a restaurant with a mix of experiences. Some found the food disappointing, with salty shrimp and burnt dumplings, and flavorless noodles. However, others were blown away by the gorgeous restaurant, amazing service, and delicious dishes like the twice fried wings and spam fried rice. The bartender provided excellent service and suggestions, especially for the Spam Fried Rice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing, with interesting and tasty drinks. While some found the food reasonably good, a little overpriced, and enjoyed the overall vibe, others felt there are better options in taste and parking can be difficult. The menu has recently changed, which disappointed some regulars, especially those who appreciated the late-night options and happy hour. Despite some mixed reviews, the restaurant remains a place with unique dishes and a cool atmosphere worth visiting.
