Fresh Donuts is this nondescript little donut shop —and they are my favourite business in San Antonio.
This place isn't stylish; there's no "decor". But it is always immaculately clean; nothing out of place, everything tidy and orderly.
This isn't hipster donuts, where you're paying $5 for a "lavender mint cruller with salted caramel glaze"; they serve normal, traditional donuts here. But they are always fresh, always delicious, and always consistent: the donuts look like they could be photographed for an ad: perfectly shaped, uniform coverage of the icing, shiny glazes...

My favourite is the glazed blueberry cake donut, and I always add a chocolate ring with sprinkles, and the cost for TWO donuts is $2.70 including tax!

“This is a cash only establishment but it's good food, good people, and a fair price which makes it a good value. It's called Royal Donuts but there are so many other things that I enjoy from here. Breakfast sandwiches, Kolaches, Apple fritters which always sell out early, cinnamon rolls and cinnamon twists, jelly donuts that they stuff when you order them. And oh yeah, they have donuts, and they're good too. They're closed on Mondays. There are a few tables inside, or you can walk in and get it to go, or use the drive thru.“

“We picked up donuts here through the drive-thru window last month. We purchased Glazed donuts and Bear Claws. Both types of the donuts were fresh and real good tasting. Great and fast customer service from Salina! We will definitely return here again and would certainly recommend you give this location a visit.

“We found it! A bakery worth the calories! I was skeptical as I pulled up but just step inside and it's clean, organized, cute and smells amazing! The baker was very friendly and helpful and fluent in Spanish and English. Even the other customers were friendly. The prices were exceptionally reasonable for delicious flaky pastries and soft delightful donuts. Everything we tried was delicious. This will be where I go for pastries and donuts from now on.“

“I actually go to the bakery on this building. I'm picky when it comes to doughnuts and "kolaches" . When I feel like having a glazed doughnut, doughnut holes, and/or kolaches I choose her place everytime. Located between the dentist and dominoes. If you don't feel like walking into the bakery she has a drive thru in the back of the building. She is very nice, attentive, and her place is always clean. “If you care for an eclair. This is the place for the best cream filled chocolate dipped pastry from heaven. Other Boston Creams and Eclairs will actually sob and cry a little when they hear the name El Folklor. All of the young eclairs from other bakeries get mad at their bakers when they get word of the quality coming out of this little kitchen. The kolaches ! Spicy or not spicy no problem there, and it has double (easy) the cheese and sausage that the other ones do. And the bread is rich and soft and delicious . Whew Did you feel that?.... The one problem that I have with both of my favorites from El Folklor Bakery is that they are so good and really popular, that they sometimes run out. It can be tragic. Build my day around the ultra indulgent early morning splurge and BAMMO I'm just a bit too late. Just passed the last one walking out the door. It's nice to know that other people in the world like the things that I hold dear . Just don't be put off when you are leaving the bakery one morning and hear "hey lady, i'll give you ten bucks and two crullers for one of dem der ah kolaches" It's just me hating myself a little bit for running late.
I'm sure that everything that comes out of this place is just as fantastic but i am really product loyal. Enjoy!
