“My wife and I spent a night in San Antonio celebrating our anniversary and came here for dinnee on the recommendation of a friend. Great little neighborhood tucked away between the Pearl district and River Walk and we walked on the River Walk to get here from our hotel. She started off with a miso fish broth that was the best miso soup we've ever had--really light on the fish flavor to the point it was there, but didn't overshadow the miso. The Arkami Carpaccio was next and was also one of the best things we've ever eaten. The waygu tartare was a little sweet (must have been some kind of light Japanese sauce stirred in to it before plating over sushi box rice, but anyone else would probably love it--I'm just not a sweets guy). my Snowcrab nigiri was also very good as well as my wife's sampling of various other fish. Ambiance and Atmosphere were both pleasant with anime playing on one TV and some pretty seating outside. Service was friendly and made us feel important somehow. It's a little pricey, but for an aniversary worth every penny. The matcha ipa was very good, too. 5 stars for sure!“
“The food was amazing and very fresh. Service equally good. It's not an easy place to find (it's literally behind LOL Liquor and Google Maps gets it wrong). The parking is limited and the restaurant is pretty small BUT did I mention the sushi? - FREAKING AMAZING and worth the rest.“
“This place is fantastic! The staff are super friendly and attentive. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were sat at a table promptly. Our server Jessica was wonderful. The atmosphere was such a vibe. Good music playing overhead but not too loud. TVs throughout the restaurant playing things like Bob Ross, Sports and animal shows. The lighting is spot on. Not too dim where you need to pull out a flashlight to read the menu but not to bright that you need to squint. The food is delicious and fresh. Every thing I ate, from the chicken nuggets to the sushi rolls, was incredible. The menu is very diverse which is nice when for “all you can eat” because you can get a little of everything. The portion sizes are perfect. A lot of other places that do “all you can eat” serve super small portions. These were just the right size! This was my first time here and I will definitely be back! 10/10 highly recommend and worth every penny!“
“We were passing through after the eclipse and wanted sushi. This place is amazing! We've had sushi from California to Toronto and this is THE BEST we've ever had. Everything was fantastic! The asparagus fries are a must-have appetizer, and the rolls are all excellent. Desserts are equally amazing. If you're looking for sushi that is nothing short of incredible, then I wholeheartedly recommend Sushihana. If you miss this, you should really question your life choices!“
“What a gem! We've been looking for a hole in the wall joint and finally found it. $19 for lunch sushi buffet? Great value. Good handrolls and chef's roll! Nigiri was OK, but the Hibachi grill beef and shrimp were quite good. Everything was a bit sweeter than what I wanted. It's good value and awesome service by our waiter, Simon. You order and they'll bring it to your table. I recommend this place for a sushi rolls and Hibachi grill.“
“If I could give more stars for service I would. From when I came through the doors to when I left I was welcomed, seated promptly, waited on immediately, menu explained and food started coming. Now let's talk the food, do not skip the shabu, it is a 5 dollar additional fee, but we'll worth it, and the mushroom choices are soo tasty. I had shrimp, steak, kalbi, salmon and they were all very good. Definitely coming back Herr, bring your appetite.“
“Our family enjoys eating here. The food is pretty good, the food presentation is nice, fish has always been fresh when we have gone. The atmosphere is authentic Japanese decor. The service is hit and miss. The employees are kind, but sometimes you feel they forgot about you. Maybe servers ? talking too much with other servers by the computer ?. I would still highly recommend this place if you love Sushi.Parking: Restaurant is tucked back in the corner, so you have to drive all the way back in the parking lot and it's tight. Cross your finger if there is an open spot because if not you have to back all the back if you're in a truck but if you're in a car you'll have to make a 4 point turn to turn around.“
“One of my favorite sushi restaurants to eat in San Antonio. The food is always excellent. The spicy edamame is a great starting appetizer for any occasion. Friendly staff and laidback, casual vibes which I appreciate. I also enjoy when they have live music. Overall it’s a gem.“
“Yea, this is the spot you want. Sushi is done right, and so is everything else on the menu. The atmosphere felt classy without being pretentious, humble for the quality, and very inviting. Our server, Willy, was attentive and intuitive, there when we needed him without pestering us.“
“I just had the most amazing Chinese food experience! The place was super cute, the food was incredibly tasty and wonderful, and the staff were beyond helpful. I highly recommend it to anyone craving delicious Chinese cuisine. You won't be disappointed!" The sushi was on point also!!“
“After spending two years in Japan it has been difficult to find ramen that is halfway decent. Hero’s has been the best we’ve found! It’s almost like being in Japan ? Love the food, service, and the 5 different anime shows going at any time. Best ramen is a tie between Hero’s spicy miso and the spicy tantan! Only wish the gyoza was pan seared instead of fried, but it doesn’t stop me from ordering it almost every time.“
“Q Habachi is a new family favorite! People say you can only choose 2 out of good, fast, and cheap. But somehow they do all three! For my family it was only $50 for 4 generously portioned meals and an order of 8 cheese wontons, and that's including tip! My brother said it was too much for him and added some to my already stuffed plate. I couldn't finish it! It was really flavorful and hot! If I could say ANYTHING negative I'd say it was a little oily for my personal taste. But my family loved it so much I gotta go 5 stars! I'll be back!“
“One of the best ramen spots in town! They've been around for about a year and I've never been disappointed with any flavor I've tried! Their miso ramen is bomb and the sushi they offer tastes so fresh! Their takoyaki also is godlike so please give it a try!!! Staff is extremely polite and can keep a conversation ?“
“Lunch portion was a pretty decent size, pad thai was good, though I think next time I'll get a hot instead of the medium since it was still pretty mild for my taste. The thai tea was too milky. Overall I would visit again.Parking: Went around lunch time, parking was ok but the lot is shared with other businesses so it might be more difficult during the dinner rush“
“The food are very good and the portion is very generous. The owners are very nice and they remember what is my usual order. The ingredient is fresh and good quality. I highly recommend this place. I hope that the owners could find more help and open the dine-in service soon. It is just two of them running this place and they try their best to provide the best food and service. So if they are busy please be kind to them.“
“We were happy to find this highly rated sushi restaurant open a little later on a Saturday night. We ordered a pot of hot green tea to share. My husband ordered some smoked salmon, yellow tail, tuna, and shrimp nigiri sushi & sashimi. I ordered the Iku Iku roll and Wild Goji Signature Roll based on reviews. I loved both of the rolls and we enjoyed everything! Very tasty and appealing to the eye. Atmosphere was quieter and mellow. Exactly what we were looking for. We have found a new sushi favorite in SA.“
“It's been a cold couple of days, and ramen is what I had in mind. Daddy-Daughter dinner was @bakudanramenstoneoak. We did miss happy hour, which ended at 6pm.Pretty good business with many people wanting the same thing for dinner. Dad had Lemonade, and I had the Lychee Lemongrass. We started off with the Pork Bun, and Shrimp Tempura. Pork was very tender. The shrimp wasn't what we had expected, and was heavy on the batter. Dad still enjoyed, and ate several pieces. We then shared the Garlic Tonkotsu. Yum! Great flavor with the soup, and chashu was tender. Lauren was our server and did a great job.“
“Our family has been eating here since their opening. They offer Gluten Free delicious rolls and the seafood is fresh. We have never been disappointed with the food or service. They offer more than sushi and that makes us all happy, WIN, WIN!“
“Wonderful family run gem in San Antonio. Food is so flavorful and authentic home style Japanese with very friendly service. Sushi is fresh and cooked dishes are flavorful too and very well priced. Decor is rundown and looks original from 50 years ago, but everything else is worth it. I could eat the amazing and huge futonaki as a snack every single day if I could!“
“Love this place!! I'm very Allergic to avocado, This is one of the few places that I have found. That will make my sushi without the avocado and remember not to cross. Contaminate with using the same knives, Sushi roller or cutting boards. Beyond those safety measures particular lee for me, the sushi is amazing. My favorite is the ceché roll!Dietary restrictions: They have always been careful to not Cross contaminate when I have explained my allergy to avocado.“
“This place is great! I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and a side of Gyozas. Probably best ramen I had so far in the US. Eric G was awesome, he added complimentary charred edamame and was able to answer all of my questions. Service is great and your food comes out quick.“
“This place rocks!! The reason why i am a regular at this restaurant is because of the great customer service, the atmosphere & the food. When you sum it all up, that's what makes this restaurant the best Japanese restaurant based out of SA.Photo features The Jalapeno Tempura Poppers!! So good!“
“The food is delicious, seriously. Perfectly seasoned, grilled just right (it better be, it's DIY, I hope you don't mess it up), you can always have Omma or Oppa do it in the back for you too, and they'll probably do it better than you. They give you 7 Banchan (Side Dishes), and a bowl of Bap with your dish. A tradition in Korean food, symbolizing the love of a mother. Come to Kim's Galbi with an empty stomach, and you wont leave hungry..The servers are wonderful too. Homeboy was quick to bring me drink refills, clean empty dishes, my server had a serious demeanor but absolutely took care of what he needed to. 10/10.Parking: It's a stand alone restaurant, you won't be paying for parking.Kid-friendliness: Keep your child's hands and feet off the grill and they'll be fine.Wheelchair accessibility: It's one story and easy to navigate.“
“After much anticipation, I finally visited Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko today, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. Stepping into the cafe on a bustling Sunday, the vibrant atmosphere was immediately infectious. The crowd, far from being a deterrent, added to the excitement, hinting at the popularity of the cafe as a weekend treat destination.Adding to the charm was a quaint pop-up shop, offering a pleasant distraction as we awaited our order. The array of offerings we sampled was a testament to the cafe’s innovative and adventurous spirit. The rice hot dogs were a standout, with three intriguing “half and half” varieties: the classic sugar-coated original, a potato version, and one daringly dressed in hot Cheetos. Each bite into these freshly prepared delights was an explosion of flavors, with the mozzarella’s dreamy pull adding a delightful texture contrast that truly elevated the experience. The inclusion of dipping sauces, particularly the Korean honey mustard, was a masterstroke, adding an extra layer of flavor that had us hooked. The culinary journey took an even more exciting turn with the mixed soft serve ice cream, a heavenly blend of ube and matcha. The combination of earthy matcha and sweet ube was an unexpected delight, offering a unique taste experience that left us craving more. However, the true star of the show was the iced cheese matcha latte. This intriguing concoction, with its unspecified yet perfectly smooth cheese topping, struck an exquisite balance between sweetness and the robust flavors of matcha. It’s rare to find a beverage that surprises and delights in equal measure, but this latte managed just that, earning a resounding 10 out of 10 from us.Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko has carved out a niche for itself, blending innovation with traditional flavors to create a menu that’s both familiar and thrilling. The bustling atmosphere, combined with the sheer quality and inventiveness of the food and drinks, makes it clear why this cafe is a beloved destination. For anyone looking to indulge their culinary curiosity, this cafe is a must-visit.“
“This is the perfect happy hour spot. 3pm - 6pm. We started with a soju and sake. Only true complaint we had was the soju was warm. Everything else was simply delicious. I would definitely recommend the bang bang shrimp out of all the options we tried. Our server was great. She wasn't pushy or over bearing. She came right on time every time.“
“Love this sushi place in southtown! The service is always spectacular, and the restaurant is cozy, calm, amd very modern. There's a good amount of indoor seating for both small and big groups! Go-to order is the Philadelphia roll because of the goat cheese. The chicken yakitori is sweet, salty, and deliciousAlso love their sushi and sashimi dishes. Our waitress was super sweet and explained everything on the menu when we had questions. Parking is easy; there's a lot right across from the entrance to Halcyon. There's also a ton of cool art shops and bars in the area too!“
“I love the atmosphere in this restaurant, it is very chill with some pop tunes in the background. I was pleased with the chef walking over to our table to make sure she didn't Maje any errors with dietary restrictions. I've been to other ramen restaurants in NY and the portions are smaller here but the taste is still better than anywhere else I've been to in SA. Will definitely be coming backVegetarian options: Edamame, miso ramen“
“I went yesterday and everything was delicious but in my opinion the fried rice wasn’t fried correctly. It didn’t taste like fried rice. I forgot to take a picture of it.The appetizers and the rolls were pretty good. We order the calamari, the soft shell crab, the habanero and Tokyo roll.“
“Super delicious food! Recommend anyone wanting to try a sushi burrito to try it here or any of their other foods that they have.Super quick service. Easy pick up and delivery. Let’s you customize your order as well.I’ve ordered my items online before coming to the place. At first I was confused how to pick up my food because it was one of those places that will put your food in lockers and you pick it up from there. This was a new experience for me since I never seen a restaurant do this, but it was easy once I figured if out. I really love how quick they are with preparing your order and how you can customize your order to your liking.“
“This was the first time my husband and I had the full hibachi experience. We were not let down. This was so much fun and the food was great. The amount of food was also pretty shocking. We were not expecting the servings to be as big as they were. We left full and satisfied. The meal for 2 came with 2 soups, 2 salads, rice, veggies, shrimp, steak, and chicken. We also added some Edamame and Gyoza to start with. I particularly loved the salad dressing and ALL the dipping sauces. Our server was very nice and checked in on us a lot. She also recommended another Saki Wine and even brought over a taste. I did end up getting that extra glass of wine bcause of that gesture and its great flavor. Our chef was also really great. He was funny and entertaining. It was a good show. For the experience and all that we ordered including 2 rounds of drinks, we were shocked with the price at the end. Very reasonable! We will definately be returning to do this again!“
“I had no idea this adorable shop was nestled inside the Japanese tea gardens. Quite an assortment of treats, from coffee, to boba, to sushi, Miso soup, paletas, adults drinks, and ramen. The staff was very busy but keep smiles on their faces and kind words as they took your order. If you're a mom wrangling your kids all day, you have to try the prickly pear sake slushy, mama, I promise, you earned it! They have fun little gifts, jewelry, colorful umbrellas, quick snacks. A must stop !!“
“We went to celebrate my Mom's and my birthdays. Our chef was wonderful and very entertaining. Most of us ordered steaks, and he got everyone's orders correct and at the right temperature. If you want a fun, family dinner for a celebration, this is the perfect location.“
“We tried this little jewel for the first time last night and were pleasantly rewarded. Service was friendly and prompt, food was excellent (although the sushi rice was a little too dry and tasteless), and the prices were very reasonable. Extensive menu selection, good sake and beer!“
“I'm so glad that Tokyo Express opened up again. I have been going there for the past two years and they have always produced good food. I haven't had any problems with their customer service. I would recommend the Texas roll, it has steak and cream cheese in it.“
