I appreciated her going that extra mile to do the right thing. We have been to The Brown House Cafe several times over the summer and really enjoy the great service and excellent food. It’s worth the drive from Gatesville for some good home cooking. Thanks, Margaret!“

“This place was great! Rarely do you take 6 kids to a sit down restaurant and feel actually welcomed. The staff was all so sweet, encouraged the kids to look around and ride in their state trooper car, even gave them quarters to use. The food was great! The kids loved that they got theirs delivered in cars. We all had burgers and fries. Fresh, homemade goodness. definitely recommend and will be back.“

She took the time to help us decide what to order, and every recommendation was spot on. We started with the Bear Bites. They are practically a meal all by themselves! Then Coco suggested the blackened shrimp tacos for Chad, and he was completely blown away by how good they were. I ordered the steak fingers, and they were perfect. Super tender on the inside with an incredibly crunchy coating on the outside. Exactly how steak fingers should be! We both got the onion rings, and geez, they were HUGE! The Texas portions were so big that we ended up taking a ton of food back to the hotel. Great food, great atmosphere, and outstanding service. Coco truly made our experience memorable. “1 - Excellent food…fried pickles appetizer gone in 60 seconds; burgers were awesome; tater tots add beyond yummy…and stay crispy enough for next day breakfast ( because they give you a portion that you WILL have another meal) 2 - Speedy, friendly customer service…very attentive staff….we tipped well over the standard 20% because it was so good! 3 - beautiful, lively atmosphere…air coolers for outdoor eating, which we chose despite the heat/humidity Most importantly, I was an out of tower and this was my last meal with local family before flying out the next morning. Dumb a** me left my wallet at the restaurant and didn’t realize until getting ready to leave for the airport at 0830. We stopped by the restaurant to see if it was still in the outdoor eating area…nope. Luckily, ran into the contractor doing some work…he called the owner, the owner confirmed it was in the office safe. After hearing I needed to make the AM flight to DFW for connection to home, he dispatched an employee to go in on a planned closed day to get my wallet. This kindness allowed me to make my flight…what he didn’t know is this act of kindness was critical because I had a new job in-person interview scheduled for the next day. Forever grateful. THAT is customer service. Thank you so much! Tells a lot about the culture and dedication to customers. Keep up the awesome work…I will be back. Promise to keep better accountability of my wallet!“

“This Cafe is truly a God send. not only do they serve delicious home-cooked Southern meals but they also bring respect and compassion to the table.compassion for all. here we all sit on the same table and eat a meal of our choosing meaning they allow you to choose which meal you would like to from two different already prepared meals then after you are seated a waiter brings you a tray with a variety of different desserts.( choose one), then let me tell you you've never tasted tea this good. so so refreshing. especially on a hot summer day. Yes please.this Cafe is built within a house. the living room turned into a dining area, the kitchen was widened, library to the left then around the next corner another room turned into a dining area. upon arrival (depending what time you get there) you wait in line .(please do not block the door) choose your dish then choose your table and enjoy and yes! it's absolutely Free... the interior is very clean, not to crowded and after you are done eating the waiter or waitress will pickup after you and prepare the way for the next guest. the atmosphere here is no different than any upscale 5 star restaurant although I did enjoy my conversation here just a tad bit more. mainly cause they were rooted in kindness with compassion. there are restrooms, it is wheelchair accessible but no wifi and parking is rough but it's definitely worth the small thing we go through. I'm not exactly sure how the book part works ,maybe cause the meatballs in mashed potatoes had me savoring the taste😛 but if you so choose afterwards you can catch a seat on the wrap around porch or benches out back and strike up a great conversation as your food settles. I strongly recommend this Cafe to all who visit Waco remember Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m...enjoy“

“My wife and i come here pretty regularly. Its in our brunch rotation and for good reason! The service is alwaya attentive, ambience is cozy and snug. The portion sizes are very good for the quality and price. As others have said, make sure you show up with a reservation and be prepared to look for parking! Delicious food, friendly staff, and great setting! Nothing to complain about.“
