“Food was good, But its quite expensive for what you get. I order scallops and shrimp with white rice. What i did not know is it came with more veggies than anything. I received 3 shrimp and maybe 3-4 scallops with LOADS of veggies and a small container of white rice. For 20$ I would have liked to seen more meat but the quality of the meal was very good. Also I had a older menue so Items were a few dollars more than I expected. Overall very good food, staff were nice and it was a good meal.“

“Holy smokes this place is delicious. We are in town on Vacation & stopped in for a quick lunch. The staff is friendly & extremely accommodating. No kids menu but the owner was quick to make suggestions on what she could put together for us - noodles in broth with some fried dumplings. And just charged us for a regular noodle dish. Add to this the food is flavorful & clean. Not greasy or heavy.“
“We're new to the area and tried Hong Kong and was pleased with our order. Everything was fresh, vegetables just the right amount of crispness and sauces flavorful for the chicken and beef ordered. Great price and friendly service. Our new go-to for Chinese food!“

“Cannot speak highly enough of Yuan Ho. Food is consistently good. Always ready on time (delivery and pickup). I somehow forgot to add a meal to the cart and when I realized, I called the restaurant and they were able to add it on and deliver our food on time. It was hot and delicious. A staple for Chinese food for us !“

“This rating is in the “hole in the wall Chinese” category to be clear. Honestly better rice than I expected with decent amount of veggies and things. Chicken broccoli was good, better than average sweet and sour chicken. My expectations were low but the food was better. To be clear there is no atmosphere, it’s a counter with covid guards still up and supplies stacked in the main room; no tables or chairs. I’d also so more expensive than average, 2 entrees and fried rice for $46 🤷🏻♂️“

“This may be the best Chinese food I've eaten. Everything was so fresh. My wife and I started with an egg roll, it was super hot and absolutely delicious, this is when we knew this was not the standard mass produced Chinese takeout, it was not the standard size, a little more plump, the pork was not the standard hard nugget that stains the cabbage red, it was brown crumbled ground pork, like fresh ground sausage. My wife got the combination lo mein and it was beautiful, not drenched in dark sause or over cook. I got the Kung pao chicken and it too was beautiful and delicious. With everything, from the egg roll to the main dishes the ingredients were individually recognizable not just smothered together. The colors popped. The green peppers, the red peppers carrots and onions. Very happy we found this place. Would highly recommend.“

“The food here is so good and the service is very fast. It’s in the perfect spot to walk to the corner and grab lunch if you work at UVA. The chicken curry combo comes with dumplings and a bun and is a great deal. The dumplings are perfection!“

“This is the best and only place I go for Chinese food in the whole city. I could eat here every day, $2 for extra protein and it will blow your mind how much food you get. If you haven’t already stop and get yourself some dinner form here, today!“

“I have been coming here since I was a kid and have not found another Chinese spot that tastes as good as this. I don't live in the area anymore but I always get Jade Garden when I am here. The food is always so hot and fresh. The flavors have remained consistent throughout the years. I am not sure why the ratings are low because it is hands down the best Chinese food I have ever had. The fried chicken wings with pork fried rice and sesame chicken are my favorite. Hot oil on the side is a must. I wouldn't be so quick to judge a book by its cover with this one.“

“I have never gone to a buffet restaurant that wasn't disgusting. The food at Garden East is fresh and very well prepared; the mixed vegetables, five slice chicken, string beans with garlic sauce, and whole mushrooms with oyster sauce were of homemade quality--deliciius and simple. The pan fried dumplings contain a perfectly respectable pork, ginger, and scallion filling, but the time they spend in the service try reduces the actual wonton leathey and unpleasant. Of course, avoid the sushi and I would not recommend that you eat the large pieces of fried frozen fish sitting in murky liquid. The dessert area offers tiny pieces of tasty chocolate and coconut cakes, but you must avoid the chocolate pudding (because it's tacky to eat pudding in public) and the rock hard lychees.
I want to stress that this is easily the only buffet restaurant I would ever go back to, and if I had to choose between going to Garden East or any of the Chinese of Thai places in Charlottesville, I would pick Garden East every time.“

“Our table ordered a variety of dishes and enjoyed most. The cucumber garlic salad was our least favorite due to a lack of flavor. We liked all the soup dumplings, the salty chicken bites, sesame balls, and katsu soup bowl. Server was very friendly.“
