“Great lagers, great beer in general. The guys behind this operation seem to know their beer. The taproom has plenty of space, is fairly clean and the service was top notch. We asked if we could start out and try a flight, but that wasn't available here. Our waiter did his best and brought us several of the styles in the smallest pours that Selvedge offers. We liked everything we tried. My favorite was something called Pro-Seam, Please 14⁰ Tmavé Pivo, which was a wonderful tasting dark Czech Lager. We will stop by again the next time we are in town and try more of the various styles of beer.“

“What an incredible little restaurant. I still can’t believe we happened across it! My boyfriend and I live in DC and eat out quite frequently, and Tavola topped some Michelin star restaurants we’ve tried. We were blown away by the kindness and knowledge of the sommelier and staff, the generosity and talent of the kitchen, and the overall atmosphere and ambiance. Every dish was on point, every service mark was hit, and I could write paragraphs about the wine recommendations. I would rate it more than five stars if I could. Huge thank you to Clay, Caleb, Kendall and everyone else we met for making our night so memorable. If you’re thinking about opening another location I vote DC!“

“Perfectly executed modern Japanese cuisine. Their wine list and sake options are exceptional. Do ask for recommendations on the Sake flights, they have some real gems. The fish and cooked dishes are impeccably prepared.“

“01.28.25 The beginning of January we had our Wedding Welcoming Party at Random Row in lieu of a traditional Rehearsal Dinner. The outcome was exactly what we were hoping for. It was a laid back and fun environment where 80 of our guests were able to have great pizza and refreshments in a way that brought all of the different families and friend groups together. Cori and her staff from the planning stages until the end of the night couldn’t have been easier to work with and we had great reviews from everyone that attended. They all commented that it was exactly what they wanted and many of the people that were there that had more traditional Rehearsal Dinners for their weddings wished they had done something like what we did. Random Row allowed us to rent out the entire facility for 4-hours at a cost that was very affordable. There were some negotiations during the planning stages regarding costs and operations and even the few places that Random Row was not able to have much wiggle room there was always an attitude of “lets try to figure this out and make it happen.” With that said, they were amenable to most of our requests and budget limits. Without commenting too much on pricing and expectations because those conversations are always unique to each situation, Random Row afforded us 4-private hours and we paid for 2-hours of pizza, salad, olives, and an open bar with our guests opening tabs for the rest of the night. The cost was affordable for a middle-class couple and the experience was worth every penny. We live around the corner from Random Row and have been visiting them for years for a quick pizza and a beer. It has been one of our go-to neighborhood spots since we moved to Charlottesville. “Wonderful experience! Hubby and I visited the tasting room for Valentine's Day. We shared the Reserve flight and Valentine's Wine & Chocolate flight. We took home bottles of four of the eight wines in the flights. The food, corn chowder and a crimini mushroom flatbread, was excellent too. It's all cooked to order & served at the table. Very attentive service. Beautiful setting with sweeping views. I'm so happy that we chose it to celebrate Valentine's Day. It'll be easy to persuade hubby to take me again for my birthday in the summer.“

“We LOVE Potter's! I discovered their ciders when I lived in Virginia Beach and I was SO happy when I realized we were moving near the cidery in Charlottesville. Their ciders are really varied, with lots of different flavors and fun combinations. We are particular fans of the petite cider - it's crisp and dry and we find ourselves reaching for it all the time at home. We also really loved the strawberry ginger, and they had one recently that was like a pet nat. I love that all the ciders are fresh and dry and not super sweet. They don't feel heavy or syrupy at all, like some others do.

Anyway - I could go on forever. But, the place is super cute. It's in an old renovated church up on a hill. There's tons of parking and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They have a great variety of snacks and some food (sandwiches and such). We try to get over there when we can, but we've always got a pack (or 3) of their ciders at our house.

“A popular vineyard as was getting crowded as evening approached - live music Fri evening. Pleasant afternoon, super nice staff, and top tasting wines. Love the natural flower areas! Could use a little more shade cover on the patio in the hot Summer as the umbrellas are not enough coverage when it hits 85 and up. I really wanted to sit among the flowers but not possible. They had pop up tents - would have been great to have a few in this area. Will come Fall or next Spring and will be perfect.“

“I recently discovered this coffee shop, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in town. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do.

“Limited seating inside but more outdoors - area is covered. Standard small brewer with a limited but diverse selection of beers. Food is available - some items from MarieBette Cafe. Ordering is done at the bar. Bartender was knowledgeable of beers.
Bar adjoins 5th Season Gardening store. Be sure to stop in either before or after Rockfish. It's a great shop with lots of unique items as well as gardening supplies. Large parking lot of side.
We will definitely visit both places again.“

“We had an amazing experience with Red Hub Catering. They provided our cocktail hour food, reception buffet, cutting cake, bartending service, and Sunday brunch. The food and service were impeccable. For bartending service, Red Hub provided the bar set up and mixers, but allowed us to provide our own alcohol which is uncommon among catering vendors. Red Hub generated a custom menu for our reception that consisted of a nacho bar for cocktail hour followed by a taco buffet for dinner. They also baked a beautiful cutting cake and delivered brunch to the lodge we were at the following morning for everyone to enjoy. Overall an incredible vendor who expertly provided us multiple wedding services.“

The food is consistently cooked well, and the menu has a lot for those of us with gluten allergies and those of us who are vegan/veg. We recommend the tatchos, plain tots, vlt, sweet potato fries, any soup of the day, the portobello sandwich, and the jackfruit bbq (though I haven’t had it in ages - next time!), and the brownie sundae (available gf&df!). “A great place to bring the crew when no one wants to cook and everyone is hungry. No one is disappointed, the prices are relatively reasonable, everyone can order what they want and the food is consistent. The service is usually fast and attentive (in my thirty or so years of coming here I’ve had slow service maybe one time). I love to sit by the fountain on the nice days and watch the traffic go by. But we ate the past couple times inside and enjoyed the air conditioning. I try hard not to use the bathroom bc it’s so small and inadequate so be warned. Otherwise once you know what you like it’s a good place for a quick and easy meal and the kids are usually happy with a jarrito and taco.“
