“My husband and I enjoyed our visit yesterday and were very pleased with all of the wines that we tasted. The fresh baguette and goat cheese were yummy. “Wonderful experience! Hubby and I visited the tasting room for Valentine's Day. We shared the Reserve flight and Valentine's Wine & Chocolate flight. We took home bottles of four of the eight wines in the flights. The food, corn chowder and a crimini mushroom flatbread, was excellent too. It's all cooked to order & served at the table. Very attentive service. Beautiful setting with sweeping views. I'm so happy that we chose it to celebrate Valentine's Day. It'll be easy to persuade hubby to take me again for my birthday in the summer.“

Oakencroft Farm & Winery Juice Bar & Smoothies •
1455 Oakencroft Cir, Charlottesville

“One word.  Memorable.

Our first annual Ehlers-Danlos Symposium at UVA was an emotional day of learning and connecting. We capped off the first day with cocktails and dinner at Oakencroft. Everyone had such a lovely evening and it was the perfect remedy to sitting in a conference hall for eight hours! Everything was perfect from gorgeous setting and cocktails to food and vibe. Even the playlist was perfect! I felt like a guest instead of a planner and it was so relaxing for me! Seamless.

Marisa, Rachel and staff - I can’t thank you enough for bringing the evening I had hoped for. Guests who were new to Charlottesville said they couldn’t wait to come back and experience the tasting room and more of that stunning view!“

Virginia Wine Collective by Eastwood Farm and Winery Winery •
1585 Avon Street Ext, Charlottesville

“Eastwood is my favorite winery in Charlottesville and has been for years. When my 50th birthday was on the horizon, and I decided to have a party, Eastwood was the first place that entered my mind. Given the time of year and the day of my birthday, Eastwood was already busy with many events and could not accommodate my request. But I learned that Eastwood had recently bought the former Michael Shapps building on Avon Street. It is now the Virginia Wine Collective (VWC), and the floor above the tasting room is a lovely event space with the ability to serve delicious Eastwood wine and offer amazing food. Once I visited the space, I knew that I had found the perfect place to have my party. I began working with Mary on the menu and food timeline and throughout the process she was available to answer my questions and offer suggestions.

The space comfortably held around 35 guests, snack table, bar, food buffet and dance floor. Mary and Gaby handled the bar, while Corey worked his magic in the kitchen. The food options were fantastic. The feedback was great. And for me, I was thrilled that Mary and Corey made sure there were vegan options – more than I had expected. The pasta dish, roasted veggies and warm chickpeas were all vegan. (And my carnivore friends/family did not notice.) The warm chickpeas were a huge hit – I’ve been asked to get the recipe.

A huge THANK YOU to Mary, Gaby and Corey for helping me make my party at VWC a memorable one for me and my guests.“

“This is one of our favorite places for many reasons, but especially the wine is traditionally great.Tucked away, just outside of Charlottesville and small enough to be intimate and with an incredible patio. In addition, there are beautiful areas to walk your dog or bring them up on the patio! Fun people inside for tasting too.“

Michael Shaps Winery Winery • $$
1650 Harris Creek Rd, Charlottesville

“We reserved a private tasting room at Michael Shaps Winery to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday, and the entire experience was excellent. The wines were surprisingly good—well-crafted and balanced—even considering the challenges of Virginia terroir. We added charcuterie plates to the tasting, which were beautifully presented and paired nicely with the wines.

The service was exceptional from start to finish—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The private room had a comfortable, understated elegance that made the whole afternoon feel special without being stuffy. A great choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality wine in a refined yet relaxed setting.“

Wisdom Oak Winery Winery • $$
3613 Walnut Branch Ln, North Garden - 9.77 miles

“We decided to try this winery since the other one we had chosen was closing. The two way one/one way Road(as I call it) un-nerved me, but I kept calm and kept going, as the signed said. The Winery was VERY charming and the flights of wine looked so inviting, but we were very hungry and at 2:30, they were out of the charcuterie and I couldn’t enjoy the wine in an empty stomach. Didn’t think I would make another trip down that road, but because of the beauty of the location and the reviews of the wine that I wanted to taste so badly, I will make another trip one day😊“

Chisholm Vineyards at Adventure Farm Winery • $$
1135 Clan Chisholm Ln, Earlysville - 7.46 miles

“I was very excited for Thursday nights and promoting this tiny Vinyard, here's the skinny...call ahead if there are 6 or more of you because you will be questioned, try to have a light heart because you will be called childish if you disagree and do you really want to spend $30 on subpar bottles of wine? Go to Wegmans and sit at the top of Target... I promise you, it's a better sunset. I chose to talk to Andrea about her curt introduction that made everyone feel as if we had done something wrong and unwelcome. Not only did she tell me I was wrong, she went onto claim to be the owner and said several people find her to be kind and welcoming and that my comments were heard but childish and irrelevant. We spent more than $400 before I said something to Andrea. She was ill-mennered, disrespectful, disappointing, discourteous and rude. I would reconsider before you choose "close and convenient." I was very excited to visit Chisholm vineyard for my 51st birthday. A place we have been coming to for celebrations for several years, even when it was Adventure Farms. Close to home and though the wine isn't out of the ordinary, it was a nice, quaint venue. My girlfriend reached out to several of my friends to come together for the sangria sunset on Thursday July 20th 2023, 4pm - 9pm. Upon arrival, there were 6 of us setting up at 5pm., (a couple hours later, 9), soon to be approached by the soon to be know as "owner," Andrea. Andrea came out to ask how many people would be joining us and informed us that it is not okay to just show up without a reservation. That we cannot have pinatas or confetti, mind you, Im here celebrating 51. (ie, I assure you, no piñatas or confetti) we were informed that more than 10 to 12 people had to have a reservations on Fridays (she mentioned that this is not okay at other Vinyards on Friday evenings, remember it is Thursday), and when asked at 7pm, 2 hours after we were approached by her, if it was going to get busy, as it was still very empty, she said "No." Not only did we all feel unwelcomed we felt that there was a huge opportunity to welcome us to an empty venue and appreciate the $100s of dollars we spent on the more than 10 bottles that were purchased. Andrea mentioned that this was the first Thursday of sangria Thursday to which I responded, "I know, I was so excited and told everyone this is what we are doing every Thursday," her response was, "you're welcome to stay or leave." The employee working was very kind and accommodating until the interaction and then also became very stand-offish.“
