I got the guac taco dip, Mexican chicken tacos, and pressed taco- flavorful, fresh and probably the best food I’ve had in a while.

We also got the Shish Kabob and Eggplant Parmesan. Both were ok, nothing special about either. The prices were very high so for the entrees so I expected better quality; however, .the portions were large.

“Surrounded by many other restaurants, don't overlook this tiny Greek fast-casual restaurant with a large menu of all the usual Greek fixings. I ordered their traditional gyro and it was the perfect amount of food and quite tasty. Since they don't give cups of water, I bought two bottles of water. My bill came to over $21. They also have a small fridge area with other goods and drinks. Inside is one table that sits two.“

“Meeting with my Greek contractor, James Kifonidis, at Image Kitchen & Bath, on the other side of Hunter Mill Road from SouvlakiBar, I mentioned how disappointed I am with them, describing my one and only visit. He recommended Plaka in Vienna. Following our meeting, I went there for lunch.

In contrast, Plaka is five star! Chicago Gyro immediately caught my eye on the menu, so I ordered it along with Humus, Spanakopita, and a Mythos Beer. Growing up in the seventies and having many dining experiences at the truly legendary landmark Greektown restaurant, The Parthenon, on Halstead Street in Chicago, I can verify that Plaka indeed is serving Chicago-style gyro.

Chicago-style gyros are characterized by a balance of savory, garlicky, and herby flavors, with a mix of textures from the thinly shaved, crispy outside of the vertically rotisserie-grilled lamb and beef mix, and a tender inside. Creamy tzatziki sauce—a yogurt-based sauce with cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, and dill—adds a cool, tangy, and creamy contrast to the savory, spiced meat. Fresh vegetables like tomatoes and onions, served wrapped in warm pita bread, complete the dish.

The two appetizer triangle-shaped spanakopita were flavor-balanced, featuring all fresh ingredients—spinach, the foundation ingredient, and feta—wrapped in thin flaky layers of phyllo brushed with olive oil.

The small, unassuming spot, seating only 24 guests, serves high-quality Greek fare made with care and pride, in my opinion and experience. I arrived at 2:30 PM last Thursday, and lucky for me, there was one seat available.“

“We just had a wonderful meal at Mylos. There were 6 of us and 2 children. We all had great meals and service was excellent. They accommodated our request to modify and make 2 of us lamb souvlaki and it was really good. Very nice cozy atmosphere.“

“In recent years there seems to be a proliferation of small-plate Mediterranean restaurants. But Yayla remains as one of the best, reasonably priced originals in northern Virginia. There is a pleasing range of mezzes, salads, entrees hot and cold, flat breads, spreads, etc . I had a Yayla mule, 3 spreads, lemony rice soup and superb shrimp. Friends chose a range of other dishes. I can guarantee whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed. Everything is flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. Very consistent and affordable spot that used to take only cash and now takes card - which is nice. Some limited outside seating is available but this place is mainly a takeout location. Menu has all the standard breakfast items and they are available all day. The biscuits and gravy are basic but hit that homestyle taste for a bargain. I've never ventured outside of their breakfast food but I have no reason to doubt it's quality. If you need a quick and affordable breakfast/lunch this is your spot just south of DuPont Circle and by the Farragut Red Line Metro.“

The menu is kind of small but has some good options.

“I had a good time here. Ordered the mozzarella sticks, crispy chicken sandwich, small spicy pizza, and the gyro platter.
I don’t have any complaints. Mozzarella sticks are as you expect it, classic and good. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich. The chicken is on the thinner side so if you prefer it thick, you might want to pass on this one.
My husband liked the spicy pizza. He said it was a bit greasy but that’s what you can expect with all those toppings. The crust is on the thinner side as well.
For the gyro platter, we don’t have anything to compare it to since this was our first time trying gyro. So not too much to say on it except it was good.
They have a bar with 2 tvs that looked like a popular spot when dining alone. Overall good experience, good service, good food.“
