“I visited Cassanel for the first time in December 2022 it was the last of 4 wineries I visited that day. Long overdue review shame on me. Some friends and myself like going to different wineries every time we have a chance and I honestly been coming back to Cassanel more than any other winery I thought I liked before. Let's begin with the staff, the amazing people who works here always welcome everyone with an amazing smile and warmth atmosphere. Theresa was the first person I meet and she is beyond amazing. Such a beautiful human being. Never been a wine person because always end up with that one wine super dry and strong flavor that I couldn't drink. The have not one wine that I can say I didn't like....but do have my favorites José Rosé and Dolce 😍😍 Yesterday (June 26, 2023) had the opportunity to meet Mr. José who's been with them for over 12 years and takes amazing care of the grapes, then got to meet Mr. Nelson (the owner) he is a wonderfu man and full fo good vibes. “🔥 MELT in Leesburg, VA – Where Burgers Become Royalty 🔥 Today my taste buds officially moved to a new zip code — Flavor Town, population: MELT. My wife and I finally made it to MELT in Leesburg after hearing great things, and let me just say… shame on us for waiting so long. Debbie, the owner (and now part-time head-bopper), greeted us like we were long-lost cousins showing up late to the family BBQ. When I told her it was our first visit, she gave me a playful bop on the head with our table number and asked, “What took you so long?” Touché, Debbie. Touché. Now onto the burgers… and yes, they deserve their own paragraph. I ordered the A Jazzed Up Swiss Burger — and let me tell you, this was no run-of-the-mill meat puck. We're talking Gruyère so rich it probably pays taxes in Switzerland, Black Forest ham that must’ve taken a first-class flight in, baby bella mushrooms sautéed to perfection, and a tangy smear of whole-grain mustard tying it all together. Every bite said, “Sir, this is not fast food — this is fine dining between buns.” My wife had the Paris Burger — imagine garlic-kissed beef topped with brie so creamy it probably auditioned for a romance film, with balsamic onions adding the drama. Let’s just say she stopped talking mid-bite. That’s how you know it’s good. The vibe? Casual but classy, with staff who treat you like family (the good side of the family, not the ones who borrow your tools and never bring them back). And yes… in a moment of grilled beef-fueled euphoria, I may have proclaimed myself the Burger King. Debbie gave me a look. I instantly realized my mistake. This isn’t that kind of burger joint. This is a burger experience. Saying "Burger King" here is like bringing boxed wine to a French vineyard. Long story short — go to MELT. Go now. Go often. And when Debbie bops you on the head, just smile… because that means you're officially part of the MELT kingdom. 👑🍔”

“Long post ahead, warning! I walked in around 9 pm and the hostess didn't bat an eye at my dining alone, and didn't say anything about it, which I appreciate. I was seated right away with no problems and immediately got a chance to look over the menu. I will admit, it took a little bit longer than expected for my waiter to come over, but as a lone diner I sort of expected that. I looked like I was waiting for someone, I'm sure. The look and feel of the place was very upscale, but they didn't have any problems with me walking in wearing a nerdy t-shirt. I was seated in this cute little booth for 2 with curtains on the side so, if I wanted a more private dinner, I could have it. It was a cute touch! The restaurant also offered patio dining and since it's by the creek, that would have been a downright charming experience were it not the usual Maryland summer. Despite having a bar, the restaurant was respectably quiet and low-key, making it an easy dining experience. I wasn't in the mood for something wild, and this place really hit the nail on the head. My first waiter Kevin, however, was the picture of polite helpfulness. He answered all of my questions, made some wonderful suggestions, and was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I was delighted to find out that this place takes part in DC restaurant week, so I was able to take part in that promotion. Under a suggestion from Kevin, I ordered a glass of their moscato (I wanted something light and sweet), and the wine was so good I brought home a whole bottle. Not really on them, but it does reflect their excellent selection. Dinner itself was delicious. The red pepper soup was refreshing and flavorful, without being too filling. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavored in the perfect way to make the actual flavor of the meat shine. The potatoes were both light and fluffy, but also had the little chunks of potato that I prefer in my mashed. The best part was desert. About halfway through my appetizer, Kevin introduced my other waiter, Maddy, who took over after he went home. She was as much of a delight as he was, and made possibly the best recommendation of the night. Desert was this blackberry tart that I did not have room for but could not put down. Gooey and crumbly all at once, with a warm center that was almost caramel-y even though it was fruit based. Topped with a light cream to balance it all out, it was absolutely delicious. I will be thinking of that tart all day tomorrow. The prices on the menu were a little high, but I wouldn't go so far to say they were unreasonable. If I had wanted a cheaper option, I could have gone to any chain restaurant ever. In the grand scheme of downtown Frederick, with it's many small businesses and one of a kind dining experiences, I think this was reasonable. For reference, a lot of meals were between $20 and $30, but a good steak is almost always $30+. Despite the price, I had an exceptional dining experience, and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining, without the upscale requirements.”

“This winery is great if you are looking for a good wine and peaceful place. It’s small but it has a great atmosphere. Their wines are excellent! I love their wine and chocolate praline tasting. We like this place for birthday parties as well as it’s usually not too crowded. Their outdoor is large with many places to sit. The indoor is small with just few tables. But as I mentioned, most of their members typically pick up their wines to go so it’s never an issue to find a spot to sit. The only negative thing I can say is that my kids don’t love going there because it’s not much to do for them, and the parking lot could use a bit of love. But we are members for about 6+ years and we truly like their wines. My family makes wines in Slovakia and I took them there as well and they enjoyed their wines a lot as well!”

“Update to my past review:
10/17/25
I'm happy to report that after reaching out to Moms about the pumpkin pie issue, Diane and Marylin could not have been more gracious. They gave me a replacement pie which was much better and did not have the separation and odd texture. So glad to know that our favorite seasonal pie is still here!!

10/13/25
What have they done to the pumpkin pie??! We look forward to the fall season just for the pumpkin pie at Moms. Made an intentional detour while in the area to pick one up. While I was not impressed with the presentation (it looked overcooked) I bought it anyway. Paid $30!! I was shocked at how expensive they have gotten, but I gladly paid because of we love this pie. However, I was sooo disappointed when I tried it with my family that evening. It did not taste good. There was a weird top layer that had an odd texture and gave it an interesting (not in a good way) taste. While I do not expect perfection, for the price, I do expect it taste great. My family did not even finish their slices and now I have a half not-eaten pie that I will likely have to throw out. Please, please, bring back the old wonderful and delicious pumpkin pie that we have loved for many years!!

2024
This rating reflects my overall experience. The pies here are some of the best I've ever had. Their pumpkin pies are a TREAT in my house during the fall season. Standing in a very, very long on the day before Thanksgiving has become somewhat of a tradition for me. I also love their Pecan pies and their Almond Chess. The only thing that irritates me about this place is that they almost NEVER pick up their phones. When they are ringing people up at the registers with credit cards it blocks up their phone lines. Please, get another connection so customers on the phone can more easily get through! The Leesburg store is teeny tiny and parking can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare. I tend to go off peak hours so that I can easily find a spot.”

I look forward to future catered events with this restaurant. Cathleen”

Pupatella 350 E Market St, Leesburg Pizza • $

“Review is for the new PUPATELLA off Slater's Lane in Alexandria VA. It's in my neighborhood so we walked. Noticed limited # spot parking lot, minimal if any street parking. Went on opening day around 1145 am; got seated right away but servers were largely absent throughout stay. Took ~10 min for someone to show up to take our drink order and food order. Seasonal specials on the menu but not actually available to order yet. Went with soft drinks, margarita pizza, and brussels sprouts app. Food was fabulous and served quickly. No server appeared to check on us or to refill drinks; I believe the marketing manager ended up checking on us and helped out. Also no server to bring bill so we closed the tab at their point of sale system. Decor is plain; hopefully they will add some art to the walls at some point. Two unisex bathrooms were clean. Very narrow pathway to get to them past the indoor seating and the bar seating. Large folks and wheelchairs will struggle to navigate to the bathrooms. The usable space inside the narrow building is limited so not sure if this is a fixable issue. Patio seating is a mix of low tables and high tables/chairs, assortment of non-adjustable small umbrellas to block sun, looked like they could be moved around. Clearly dog-friendly, I saw at least three water bowls in use or available to use. Saw a lot of vehicle traffic on Slater's, but did not hear the traffic on Slater's or the GW parkway. Most tables inside and out were occupied; the music over the speakers and the ambient patron noise was loud enough to drown out traffic. There is an access road and line of trees between the restaurant and GW parkway which helps to minimize the traffic view. Food was worth another visit, though you should give them time to upskill their servers and perhaps hire more servers. Given the parking issue and the limited seating inside and out, I suspect this location is more suited for walking locals and carry-out than travelling diners. This location isn't really suited to be a destination dining experience.”

“Stopped into Chefscape for a pre-movie dinner. Colombian’s Place is really excellent food! Husband and son both had the Bandeja Paisa. They are foodies, and couldn’t stop raving about how good it was. Portions were huge and beautifully presented in a wooden plater. I am not a foodie but I am picky. I had the CP salad and the cheese arepa. Both were delicious. The chicken seasoning and house dressing for the salad were amazing. The cheese arepa was light and yummy. The (I assume) owner came over not once but a few times to check on us and tell us about the food. It was obvious he really, really cared about our experience and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. It is so rare to see that these days and it made a great experience over the top excellent. Add to the fact there was also good music playing at the venue, all made for the perfect chill, delicious Friday night dinner! Will totally go back!”

I'm no connoisseur but I know a good meal when I'm finished. Food ample and the less expensive dishes looked just as appetizing as the more expensive ones. I want to try almost everything once....”
