“Derrick our waiter was exceptional! My daughter and I recently went to a luncheon program in the Regency Room. Other years there has been a buffet, but this time it was a set plate affair. Flank steak was on the menu! My daughter is vegetarian! I quietly inquired of Derrick if a vegetarian plate was possible? As he brought everyone at our table their meat meal, he set a vegetable meal in front of her! She was surprised and delighted! He saved the day!“

“We had a wonderful dining experience from the welcoming greeters at the door to our wonderful server. The food was amazing from pea soup to steak to dessert, and the punch bowl! The Pringle’s ginger beer drink was very good, too. My daughter loved the oysters. It was a wholesome experience with live music and authenticity in the details (even the silverware is made in Williamsburg). It was also a treat to eat somewhere where historical figures dined in colonial times, but also really an art form to serve a menu inspired by recipes from the 1700s (and everything tasted amazing and fresh). Service was rushed - my wife and I wanted to slowly enjoy our cocktails, but our server more or less pushed us - "cocktails arrived; are you ready to order...? We're sipping our cocktails, are you ready to order...?; Can I take your order, I won't put it in until you're finished with your cocktails... Us: Okay. Thirty seconds later, my chowder arrives. We ordered a bottle of chard (not an inexpensive one) and requested the bottle to be placed on ice. Server seemed flustered; brought us a big plastic ice bucket and placed it on our small table. No stand... (BTW, we dine at the best restaurants around the US and abroad and were well-dressed - sport coat for me; Blackglama for my bride, so we are not a part of the sweatshirt/sneakers set. Maybe that was the issue?“

“Aside from my welcome at hotel reception, eating at the Golden Horseshoe Grill was my first impression of Williamsburg—and it was lovely! Each person who worked there was very kind, and I got to interact with at least five of the restaurant staff. The pulled pork was delicious. I sat outside and got to enjoy the view. Good people and good food. Definitely recommend!“

“My friend walked in and asked for a table for two last night. There was light traffic at the time. I arrived 15 min later and we were still waiting. 25 min after that, we still hadn't been called so I asked the hostess what was going on. She explained that some call-ahead parties had come in, and those take precedence over people physically present and waiting.

How does that work? Call-ahead isn't the same as having a reservation, is it?

Fix this at the Williamsburg site and you'll get 5☆ from me.“

“We have enjoyed staying on site at the Wedmore Place over the years and the reserve wine tastings and tours after a nice lunch at the Gabriel Archer Tavern. It’s less than ten minutes to Colonial Williamsburg and an exit away from Busch Gardens. If you are looking for a unique weekend getaway, we would recommend a stay!“

My only atmosphere wish was that there was Christmas music playing for the season, esp since it’s already a bit noisy. “This a classic deli, old school, full of William and Mary sports memorabilia. It’s across the street from the school. Food is delicious - pretty much all of it - and abundant. Rolling Stone calls it one of the best delis in America. My wife loves the Delly sub. The Baked Italian is enough for two. And a Greek salad with grilled chicken is a favorite of mine. But, really, it’s all good.“

“Been searching near and far for fried pickle spears and this place did not disappoint they were phenomenal. The sandwiches were great too i got a BLT the wife got the turkey breast sub and my 2 yr old got a grilled cheese it was all delicious.“
