“Driving through and the Mrs wanted to try this place. Food is amazing. From onion rings to Pot pies and soups, everything was delicious and appeared to be made in store. Good selection of beer. Was so good we went again the next day as we drove through on the way back. Will go again.“

“We made plans for our anniversary to stay at the Smithfield Inn and Restaurant. The new owner was very friendly and could not do enough to made our anniversary a happy occasion. The meal was excellent and our room was very cozy with fireplace and seating area separate from the bedroom. It was very clean and quiet. Then to top it off we were given breakfast coupons for the near by Gourmet Bakery. The bakery was also excellent. We would stay there again and longer to enjoy the cute small downtown shops. Be back soon!“

“We have visited the Smithfield Inn for dinner many times. It is a very historic Restaurant with excellent local fare, from fish, crab, meat prepared in some cases in original recipes. Notable is the She-crab bisque, best I've had anywhere. Crab cakes, seasonal favorites, original Smithfield ham all round out a very satisfying menu. It is a local favorite so reservations are recommended. Very interesting historic Inn in old town Smithfield.“

“Nice quick getaway across the James River Bridge from the fast pace of Newport News to the relaxing small town atmosphere of Rescue. Captain Chuck-A- Mucks sits on the water edge of scenic Jones Creek. My wife and I visited for the first time to eat lunch and really appreciated it. Captain Chuck-A-Mucks is a very well managed and clean restaurant. We chose to set inside as to eating out on the deck. I had a salad and fried oysters and my wife had crab soup and Onion Rings. Good portions of food and great tasting. Captain Chuck-A Mucks will definitely be added to our favorite Restuaraunt list to eat at.“

“Great food, very fresh! We came on a Sunday shortly after opening and they got our food to us quick and it was very good. Staff was super nice and helpful in making a choice of which option to get. Dining area is comfy and well lit. Really enjoyed our visit!“

“We had the King Suite and the bed was very comfortable. The bedroom was big and so was the living room area. There is only one bathroom so our daughtet had to use the one in our room. Although the pull out couch was okay she preffered the roll away bed that they provided when asked. When you walk into your room there is a switch by the door that you must turn on to turn the bathroom lights on and off in the bathroom. The bathroom was a nice size with good lighting. The floor can be a little slippery when wet. It may have been the type of tile. The pool area was very nice and enjoyed. The lobby area is a nice size. Oh although you cant tell the King Suite door closes and locks. The staff was very friendly all the time. When ever we needed anything they were there to assist. Overall I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Besides the one bathroom in the suite I would give 10 because of the confort. If continental breakfast was availablenit would have been 12“

The Super Young Lady we had as a Server, her name was Rachel was an absolute pleasure!! All of us said the same thing. Attentive. Super Personality and just couldn’t have been any sweeter. We all brag about the food; but Young People like this deserve recognition and hopefully Management let’s her know how much we enjoyed the food, but she was the highlight of the meal. “The painkiller definitely sums it up... the salmon was great, the croissants were a little dry probably Moreno since they were cold but overall experience was great.

2nd & 3rd experience disappointment 😞 food raw half done order not right ... apparently it's 4.5 stars when it's not a crowd but when it's packed or a person at almost every table the service & food is poor.“
