“We had our wedding at the Commentary on 5/31/25 and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. Olivia Martel and Chef Fran were PHENOMENAL to work with. Anything we wanted, we got. We wanted a low key, chill wedding, and decided on stations and the pasta bar with a plethora of appetizers and the execution was a 10/10. We loved having the whole bar and restaurant to ourselves in Ballston and welcoming guests from across the country and being in the Commentary’s/Westin’s care. They took really great care of us and we couldn’t be more grateful for the most beautiful day of our lives.“

"Where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came." Just add terrific live music, great acoustics, and the best dance floor around! Truly impressive across the board - friendly, welcoming and FUN. Pete, Kelly and their team are true professionals; they love their work and make sure everyone feels welcome. Pete personally goes from table to table - when he's not joining the band/playing guitar! Kelly is wonderful, kind, warm, and consistently books the BEST bands around. Bartender Bo is indeed "super cool" and funny. Servers Mario and Andrea are helpful, attentive, efficient, and keep everyone very well-fed. Chef Pete (different one) regularly impresses with tasty appetizers, entrees, salads (Greek is a fave), desserts, and more. More than worth a visit - keep going back! I'm proud to be a regular (OK - groupie/super-fan) and my nights at Pete's are true weekend highlights. Sergei (hope that’s correct) was more than accommodating and explained the flights to us along with the type of whiskey. He also gave recommendations. Well let me tell you, I have NEVER taken a shower as good as the shower I just took in this hotel. It scratched every mosquito bite on my body simultaneously and felt so amazing. The provided toiletries smell like I just stepped out of a spa. The towel was fluffy but not linty. The water pressure was immaculate. The temperature was consistent and easy to set to the perfect amount of hotness. And my skin doesn’t feel like it’s been stripped of all of its moisture like it does after a shower at most hotels. I will only stay at this chain from now on if they’re all like this. I need to know how to get this at home. I’m serious. Best shower of my life.“

“I’m going to post the same review I gave on Yelp - this is a 5 Star place! After a day in DC, my family decided to try Soul Thai on our way home. What a terrific Experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was some of the best Thai we have ever had. The Pad Thai was amazing. The Hang Over Noodles (Drunken Noodles) was exceptional. And the red curry was by far the best I’ve had in the area. The ambiance was quite pleasant as well. Initially we were sat in an area that was a little noisy for our taste, but they graciously moved us to a much quieter section. The owner, Nancy came over after our meal and was very appreciative of our comments on the meal. She shared with us that she personally picks the freshest ingredients she can find to ensure the quality of the food. I would highly recommend Soul Thai to everyone. We will be coming back soon. The atmosphere and vibe was good also. Decorated for the holidays really well. The music choice didn't fit the vibe but luckily it was so low I had to focus to hear it.

My only negative was I asked for a medium burger. See photo attached that my burger was well done. Outside of that I couldn't be happier.

“My second visit, and the first one for two companions, we went for lunch. The atmosphere is very nice, quiet but not overly so. The staff greeting at the door is very pleasant, with smiles all around. Takumi offers specials for lunch, for $16-$18, including a Sushi one. The specials are served on a beautiful dark wooden tray, which includes the appetizer (salad or miso soup), a choice of 4 main courses (I enjoyed both Don, a bowl or rice with either eel or chirashi, a mix of raw fish; also on offer is a shrimp tempura, and the third dish is a nigiri sushi roll, (choice of 4). With this comes a small tray with three compartments, one with a salad (I had squid once and seaweed once), two and a piece of soft tofu in a slightly sweet syrup to wrap up the meal. The a la carte menu is very tempting as well, and the special rolls are delicious. All fish is flown fresh from Japan, and included Hokkaido uni (sea urshin) which was wonderful. All around, a lovely experience. We will be back!“
