“Modern day CHEERS! BEST bar in the DMV! AMAZING PLACE! GREAT vibe/bands/staff/food/bar/service, and the most warm and welcoming staff and "regulars"! Remember the show "CHEERS"? Rename it Pete's! "Where everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came." Just add terrific live music, great acoustics, and the best dance floor around! Truly impressive across the board - friendly, welcoming and FUN. Pete, Kelly and their team are true professionals; they love their work and make sure everyone feels welcome. Pete personally goes from table to table - when he's not joining the band/playing guitar! Kelly is wonderful, kind, warm, and consistently books the BEST bands around. Bartender Bo is indeed "super cool" and funny. Servers Mario and Andrea are helpful, attentive, efficient, and keep everyone very well-fed. Chef Pete (different one) regularly impresses with tasty appetizers, entrees, salads (Greek is a fave), desserts, and more. More than worth a visit - keep going back! I'm proud to be a regular (OK - groupie/super-fan) and my nights at Pete's are true weekend highlights. “Meet up with my girl for happy hour. The food was so good. We both ordered the loaded pepperoni pizza off the happy hour menu. We also ordered the spinach dip to share. I ordered the Jenn's Blackberry Rickey (2) based off Kyle's recommendation and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing, Kyle's was very knowledgeable with the menu and drink suggestions. He was friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere was great nice and low key and we had the perfect spot for us. We have a great time and plan on returning soon.“

“Truly a hiddent jewel south of Old Town Alexandria. If I had been blindfolded and didn't know that I entered the establishment via the parking lot of Belle View Shopping Center I would have thought I was in an upscaled restaurant in downtown DC. This has become our favorite date night spot. Delicious food options and creative cocktails along with exceptional service (Brett) made our evening one to remember. I love a well made Old Fashioned and I wasn't disappointed. The secret ingredient of the quarter branch apple brandy took it to next level. We are looking forward to our next date night already!“

A Hidden Gem in Old Town Alexandria!

Alice Cocktail Bar exceeded every expectation and delivered an absolutely phenomenal dining and cocktail experience from start to finish.

The cocktails were outstanding. I started with the Alice, a beautifully crafted blend of Roku Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Lychee Liqueur, Butterfly Pea, Yuzu, and Egg White. It was light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. I also enjoyed the Gold Rush, made with Four Roses Bourbon, Cointreau, Honey, Yuzu, and Egg White—a smooth, flavorful cocktail that quickly became a favorite.

My partner ordered the Beach House and the Flamingo, both of which were exceptional. The Beach House combined Espolon Blanco, Banhez Mezcal, Passion Fruit, Pineapple, Aperol, and Lime for a tropical burst of flavor. The Flamingo was equally delicious and was served in an adorable tiki glass that added a fun touch to the experience.

For appetizers, we ordered the Crab Rangoon and the Grilled Pork Sticky Rice. Let me just say—both were A1 delicious. The pork was perfectly marinated and grilled, and paired wonderfully with the sticky rice and chili garlic lime sauce.

For our entrées, we had the Crab Fried Rice and the Phuket Seafood. Both dishes were absolutely incredible. The Phuket Seafood, loaded with mixed seafood, onions, scallions, bell peppers, young peppercorns, sweet basil, carrots, and roasted chili sauce, was bursting with flavor. Chef’s kiss! The Crab Fried Rice was equally impressive. In my book, both dishes are award-winning.

What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our waitresses were attentive, knowledgeable, and spot-on with their recommendations throughout the evening. Their hospitality made an already fantastic experience even better.

Overall, Alice Cocktail Bar earns an easy A++. Amazing drinks, outstanding food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere. I cannot wait to return.

“We had our wedding at the Commentary on 5/31/25 and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. Olivia Martel and Chef Fran were PHENOMENAL to work with. Anything we wanted, we got. We wanted a low key, chill wedding, and decided on stations and the pasta bar with a plethora of appetizers and the execution was a 10/10. We loved having the whole bar and restaurant to ourselves in Ballston and welcoming guests from across the country and being in the Commentary’s/Westin’s care. They took really great care of us and we couldn’t be more grateful for the most beautiful day of our lives.“

“Here's the thing: go to McClellan's right now.

The drink menu captures the alchemy that happens when talented bartenders who really know cocktails also don't take themselves too seriously. In other words, your drink will be banging, but it might come in a Yoda tiki mug.

Note that the food menu is limited. That's relevant if you haven't had dinner, you have more than one drink, and you're planning to work tomorrow. Ask me how I know. So order more than one plate of charcuterie. Or ask the bartenders to make you something NA, which they're also good at.

Finally, do your event at McClellan's. I had my birthday here and it was so straightforward. Brian was easy to work with over email and the bartenders for the actual event (shout to Chris and Carlos!) were as great as I hoped.

For other people who are into bingo or trivia, they have bingo every Thursday at 7pm and Trivia every Wednesday at 7pm. As far as we’re aware it is free to participate to both.

“After a recent stay at the Hotel Hive, I must say it was one of the many highlights of my trip to DC. If you're looking for just the right spot, this is it... For starters, the location in the Foggy Bottom area of DC is hard to beat. It's an incredibly safe and completely walkable neighborhood that makes getting around the DC area perfect. The 5-minute walk to the metro station was perfect for starting and ending our long days running around, taking in this amazing city. Since it was our first ever stay in a "Micro Hotel" our room felt anything but cramped. Our Loft room was cozy, comfortable, and perfectly designed to maximize the space given. What made the space stand out was the huge windows, which let in a ton of natural light, making the room feel bright and spacious, thus perfect for waking up and planning our day's adventures. Lastly, there was the phenomenal staff... Every staff member we encountered was super friendly and always willing to go that extra mile to help answer any questions that we had. One front desk staff member who stood out was Sana, who, at every interaction, was always the first to ask how we were and how our stay was going. She even mentioned several helpful insights that made our stay that much better. Simply put, I can not recommend the Hotel Hive enough.... It truly is a gem in the Foggy Bottom District of DC...“

“Cafe Colline is spectacular. I had a toddler with me, was dressed in an adidas track suit, and wanted real food as we waited for someone working in the area. Most of the customers were much better dressed and without a child. Nothing wrong with this, just painting the picture. The staff could not have been nicer and more professional. We were greeted with open arms, sat immediately, and served with absolute professionalism. My food (the fish) was so good I considered licking the plate. They don’t necessarily have a kid’s menu but offered numerous things to make a toddler. I went with the burger and fries. They complimented this with numerous dipping sauces and made the burger to order. The charge was minimal and fair. I always clean up after him as toddlers can be messy and they insisted on letting them clean up (I did it anyway). Restrooms were spotless and the kitchen area you pass was very clean and well organized. It’s a small spot full of big talent. This will be a regular for us. A must dine.“
