“Park Lane on Fordham Drive in Virginia Beach is a great place for drinks, dinner, parties, meeting friends. I have been a frequent patron of Park Lane at this location for a very long time and at least twice a week. I spoke with manager Jim this evening and complimented him on the way the restaurant and bar is run. The restaurant is well kept and attended to. The wait staff and bar tenders are super efficient, well versed with knowledge of the product and food there. They are fast and very efficient, and honestly all of them have great work ethic and have a wonderful sense of humor. They make you feel like a part of their family and are very professional. They really get to know you (especially if you’re a regular customer), and that’s why it’s such a pleasure to frequent the restaurant. We laugh and kid around with each other and the atmosphere really is light, lively, fun and all around pleasurable. The kitchen staff prepare and present the dishes with absolute care and appeal…. and the food is delicious! I haven’t been disappointed once! The orders come out of the kitchen with care and they are very prompt. The analogy that I would say about this particular restaurant is that “it’s a well-oiled machine”, as it’s run with precision, it’s very efficient, and everyone works well with each other, and honestly they all seem so happy! It’s a wonderful place and I recommend it very highly. You won’t be disappointed, and I might add that the prices are very reasonable. “Verdict on Virginia Beach…compared to my usual favorites? Let’s break it down. (Full disclosure: I’m NOT a travel blogger, and this is kind of my first time venturing into writing extensively about vacation experiences. So bear with my grammar, spelling, and rambling thoughts!) Over the years, I’ve fallen hard for places like Grand Cayman, Miami Beach, and Palm Beach. So when I decided to give Virginia Beach another shot (after some abysmal childhood memories), specifically the Historic Cavalier Hotel, I came in with some pretty high standards. Here’s what I found: ✅ The Boardwalk Yes, Virginia Beach has one. And sure, it’s not 13 miles long like Miami’s, and there’s not a single mosaic dolphin in sight. It’s basically a long, sun-drenched stretch of concrete - no art or fun things to look at (other than a couple of small monuments). That said, there are more places to sit and watch the ocean roll in, which I appreciated. Just don’t expect palm trees or artistic flair. Miami still wins the creativity award, hands down. But both boardwalks are packed with runners, rollerbladers, and eye-candy fitness enthusiasts. Miami? Still undefeated when it comes to beautiful people in motion. WOWZER. 🤣🥵🔥🥵🔥🥵 ✅ The Beach Club Vibe Spending time at the Cavalier Beach Club (the hotel’s take on a “country club meets the beach” vibe) gave me slight Breakers-in-Palm-Beach energy. Emphasis on slight. There’s one pool (not four), no adults-only section, and zero chance someone’s handing you a $35 hotdog like they do at The Breakers (which, weirdly, is a real thing). But here’s the kicker: cocktails are $13–15 and food hovers around $20. In beachfront resort terms, that’s practically a miracle. ✅ The Hotel Honestly? I was shocked by how nice the rooms are at The Cavalier. No, they’re not Breakers or Ritz-Cayman-level luxurious, but I’d give them a solid 7.5 or 8 out of 10. Thoughtful design, cozy beds, and they even include all the ingredients to make an Old-Fashioned in your room (complete with a whole orange 🍊 and a knife to peel it!). It fits. Tarnished Truth Distillery is downstairs. Did I take a tour? No. Did I drink the bourbon? What do you think? 🥃 The historic property itself is absolutely beautiful and just as well maintained as any resort I’ve stayed at. ✅ Dining Scene I didn’t explore the local spots much, but the Cavalier and the Marriott Beachfront both seem to offer creative cocktails and solid menus. They’re on my list for next time. That said, let’s be honest. There’s no world where Virginia Beach competes with the Michelin-starred chefs or James Beard-award kitchens in Miami, Palm Beach, or Grand Cayman. So how does it all stack up? 🏝️ Grand Cayman still has my heart. The vibe, the people, the water, the luxury. It’s in a league of its own. (Only the Maldives come close, but that’s a whole other conversation.) And unlike the others, Cayman is a year-round destination. I can hop on a three-hour flight anytime and count on perfect weather. That’s hard to beat. 🌴 Miami Beach still wins for style, variety, and a walkable boardwalk with flair. But even Miami has its limits. I’ve been there in January and February, and it’s been too chilly to enjoy the beach. Beautiful? Yes. Pool weather? Not always. 💎 Palm Beach? Not even comparable. Palm Beach is a lifestyle. A category. A mood. If someone told me I could only eat at the Seafood Bar at The Breakers for the rest of my life and nowhere else, I’d happily accept that fate. But like Miami (and slightly worse, since it’s 70 miles further north), Palm Beach can be cold in January and February. It’s not a slam dunk winter destination either. Final Take Would I come back to The Cavalier? Absolutely. I’ve already booked six nights in September. It’s hands down the best beachfront resort within a 3 to 4 hour drive of Northern Virginia, and it’s perfect for a spontaneous escape. But make no mistake, this is a seasonal spot. From May through September, it’s great. Outside that window, it’s either too cold to enjoy or the beach club isn’t even open. (Which is honestly one of the m“

I was told they are getting ready for the Pole and Floor show competition on Saturday, May 18th. I think that's worth going to just from what I saw. The specials were fantastic and the menu was great for either a late night snack or a quick lunch. “Ok, so I would recommend this restaurant but not on a Saturday night and reservations won't help if they're busy. So here's how it went...we arrived dressed up last night Sat. March 29th at 6:30 for a 6:45 reservation and were told they didn't have any tables and we had to wait. The wait was about 30 minutes and during that time we got a chance to listen to the hostesses talk bad about another employee which was at the least unprofessional when they should have been working considering how busy it was and at the most mean girl behavior. So we get to our table and our server comes over, she doesn't tell us her name and nothing about the specials or the menu and we told her it was our first time so there was no effort to help us understand the menu or upsell anything. Moving on we figure out what we want and proceed to wait a solid 20 min for her to come back with our drinks which each had 7 cubes of ice. I guess they were low on ice because my man's sweet tea was hot tea lol. He ordered the ribeye med rare with bone marrow, broccoli, sauteed onions and mushrooms, a loaded baked potato with extra sour cream and I ordered the prime rib med rare with a loaded baked potato, spinach, and sauteed onions. My man asked for a salad and it took 22 min. At this point I am timing everything because our server is struggling. After that time the bread and salad come but our drinks are almost empty so we decide to just wait to mention it to her when the food comes out. The food did not come for 32 min. Finally, the manager comes over to ask what we ordered so he can go find our food. This is where the lies start. Why did our server come out of the kitchen with towels on the plate saying hot, hot, hot and the food and plates were cold?? Lol. I didn't have my spinach or the extra sour cream we asked for. We had a side bar and decided to just eat because we were hungry and had already waited so long. Side note, I don't think our server is well liked because I noticed the other servers helping each other and managers delivering hot food to tables but no one was helping our server and she was drowning. Not sure about that but that's what I observed and I had plenty of time to pay attention. Ok so we also get our drinks refilled and I eventually get my spinach. The food was good. It was cold but the flavor was good. We ate a little and decided we would take it to go and heat it back up at home. The manager comes back over and asks about our experience and we tell him everything you just read. He was nice and apologetic. He offered a free chocolate cake dessert which we accepted. The 20% gratuity was included in the bill which we are used to and is normally not a problem but we were admittedly disappointed with our experience. The bill was $209 including the $30 gratuity. We paid and made our way out. In the end, whoever our server was, we never found out her name, made $30 for poor service and honestly I think that's why she didn't try harder because the tip was guaranteed but it was our anniversary and my man is a generous tipper and would have happily tipped even more for a good experience because in the end that's all that matters to him. The experience and my happiness. Neither expectation was met. Overall I would recommend this place but go during the week. A little clarity, our server was pretty, very short with an accent, not sure where she's from and dark hair. She may need a little more training or some assistance on busy nights and she could make much more than the 20%.“

My server yesterday EMILY WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT !! John the bartender on Monday 10/21 and the hostess ( I forgot her name black younger woman with a long weave ) . Were absolutely phenomenal ! They offered great suggestions for food and drinks . I wanted to leave and try another restaurant with would food but, those two customer service made me stay . All 3 are a gem that you don't find anymore in customer service . No matter how great the food maybe at a restaurant customer service is the most important part . They exceeded my expectations ! I went into work and told my coworkers that live in Virginia Beach they must try this place out ! The chicken, mac n cheese , and bisque are by the far the best !!
