“Madras Cafe is an absolute gem of a restaurant! The owner warmly greeted us when we came in. He asked if we had ever eaten there before and when we said no kindly explained the menu. He asked our preferences and made personal recommendations for each member of our group. The food was EXCEPTIONAL! I never write reviews but knew instantly I needed to share my experience. The foods were flavorful and the spices vibrant. I have to mention the coffee. If you are a coffee drinker, then you are about to be ruined for all other coffee. It was smooth and rich. Reminded me of French press but better. The prices are reasonable and fits into any budget. The owner explained how each dish was best eaten and shared a charming story about how his mother's cooking influenced the restaurant's menu. I have never felt so welcome and at home in a restaurant. I highly recommend.“

“SANGRIA'S CATERS!!! I've loved Sangria's for their delicious food and incredible service for years so I was delighted for find out the catered while I was planning my wedding. My husband and I sampled A LOT of caterers during this time and found a lot of poor quality food and ridiculous prices. Needless to say, we were psyched when we found out that Sangria's offered catering services. We were even more surprised to find that they had the most affordable prices in the entire Appleton/Oshkosh/Green Bay area. We didn't hesitate to book with them and our fajita bar at our wedding last weekend was incredible. Sarah, the owner, was amazing to work with. She was always responsive and very organized. She and her team flawlessly executed our cocktail hour appetizers and dinner buffet. They also cleaned everything up and packed everything for us to take home at the end of the night. If you are planning a wedding or large event, Sangria's is the BEST. Our guests loved the food and we are so excited for Sangria's left overs.“

“We just had a birthday party here on Sunday for our two 7 year old boys. We reserved a room with one of the party packages, which included a ranch hand, pizza, ice cream, drinks, gift bags and arcade cards for each kid, and very accommodating staff. Nick is always friendly and provides great service every time we visit.“

“LOVE this restaurant. I wish it was there when I lived in the area 20 yrs ago. I still get there a few times a year. I really enjoy the blackened shrimp tacos. The service has always been wonderful and consistent. The manager stops by the table a QUICK check in. That small touch means so much!! Yesterday I had the lemon cake for dessert friend's had the gluten free chocolate cake. We were all in HEAVEN!! My second time there a couple years ago we had a server who was maybe having an off day. I talked to the manager on my way out & he was sincere & grateful I had let him know.“

“The food was good, but wasn't worth the price. The steaks are overpriced because of the name. I think the worst part is you spend all that money and the only thing you get is a tiny house salad. For the amount of money you spend you should get standard side dishes. Good but grossly overpriced. It's a place you should go to once to say you have gone.“

“Under new ownership. I ate there with my wife, and my son and his wife. The food and service are excellent, everyone at the table agreed. We all had different dinners, a lot of depth in the menu. The guacamole is absolutely great. I can’t wait to try their food with Margaritas as well, we had flavored tea in the interim. A lot of restaurants are noisy inside yet this was not the case here. Next time we will try eating outdoors.“

“Went for a birthday on a Monday night. Presentation was fabulous. Chef was skilled. Waitress polite. Only one menu for four though. Felt rushed and unwelcome despite no waiting patrons. If I'm dropping over $200 on dinner, I don't want to feel like I have to leave right away.

Parking: Be prepared to walk a ways during weekends. Lots of patrons. Weeknights are less crowded.“

“This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Appleton area. However, I was disappointed with the front-desk folks’ lack of creative thinking and can-do attitude. When I called before arriving, I mentioned the number of people in my party and mentioned that I will also need a high chair. He said nothing available inside but patio is open and lots of seats are readily available. When we arrived, he was right, nobody was sitting in the patio. Bad news came after we were taken to our table, “sorry, we don’t have high chair available for at least another hour!” I understand that this may happen, but why do you tell me 5 mins before I arrive that you have everything available? Very disappointing, but this is even more disappointing when it comes from one of my favorite restaurants and I had guests with me.“

However, the shrimp appetizer was fantastic and the other entrees my family had were awesome! Would go back , but probably would order the beef mushroom ragu or a different entree.“

“Brittney B is the best bartender!! She always provides amazing customer service and brings such a fun energy! We used to come in every month for the Bloody Mary of the Month, but a couple weeks ago they changed the mix, it's just not the same. The new version is watered down and lacks flavor. It used to be worth the trip for a great Bloody Mary with all the loaded toppings, but unfortunately, not anymore, at least not until they bring back the original mix.“

Our waitress was friendly and attentive. SO had the Saturday special prime rib. I had bbq ribs and brisket. Both were delish. Also had stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer which were excellent. Highly recommend! Very nice atmosphere for a date night.“

“What’s not to love?! Excellent service from a friendly, attentive server. We had a table up front where we could watch one woman making breakfast for every table in the place. At one point she had nine tickets (orders) up. I saw strips of bacon going onto the griddle (not precooked) and my scrambled eggs were obviously individual eggs that were scrambled (not premixed with filler, like restaurants often have). We consider ourselves pancake connoisseurs and these were perfection. They’re served with a small cup of butter (vs many individually wrapped packers) and have a nice crisp to the edge. American fries were likely baked then diced and fried as they were firm but not undercooked. The sausage was juicy and flavorful. I ordered my English muffin toasted “dark” and it came that way. I’m not a coffee drinker, but the coffee drinkers at my table said the coffee was excellent. Everyone loved their food.“

“The food here is always on point 💯 So happy they added PHO to the menu! That’s always our go-to dish including the crystal shrimp. My kiddos loved it and gave it INFINITY out of 1 😆 they said the food was FANTASTIC! This is also the only place in Appleton closed a little later on a Sunday that has pho on their menu as well. All other pho places are closed by 7pm.“

“A good Wisconsin supper club! We each had steak and it was perfect. We discussed it with our waitress and she got it square with the kitchen--just the way we like it. Great fr onion soup. Prompt friendly service. Worth it. Also, they know how to mix drinks! Cheesecake. Bourbon pecan pie! Perfect coffee.“

“We were here at 3:30 pm, so it was very quiet. I saw someone complain about the cleanliness but it seemed clean to me even the bathroom.

It took quite a while to get our drinks and the waiter kept apologizing. I believe they were training staff at the bar.

As far as seating - plenty for big crowds.

Food - Pre-meal croissant with honey butter.
I ordered ribs with honey bbq, buttered corn and southern green beans. Everything was hot, cooked as it should have been and delicious. Even the corn had a nice crisp. The ribs fell off the bone. My rasp margarita was meh, I've had better.

Husband had grilled sirloin, loaded potato and green beans. He said it was very tender and actually very good. The raspberry iced tea was also great.
