“I am a school bus driver. On a recent Sunday, I was in Baldwin for a work trip with a Special Olympics event occurring at the high school. While my passenger group was participating in their event, I chose to come to the DQ for a quick lunch. It honestly was not my first choice, but the lobby at another nearby restaurant was locked and my bus will not fit in a drive thru. As I've been with groups to eat at the other nearby facilities more times than I can count, I chose to go to DQ for a change.Immediately when I walked in to the DQ, I noticed that it was clean and inviting. The young lady who was working at the front counter greeted me with what appeared to be a genuine smile. As I bus driver, I've learned that is not always the first reaction when restaurant staff see me park the bus.Although, my initial impression was very good, I was even more pleased as I was getting ready to leave. As it was a slow time during their work day, the 3 young staff members who were working were in the lobby area having a conversation. The previously mentioned young lady stopped talking to her coworkers and made a point to ask me how everything was with my visit. Then one of the young men asked if that was my bus parked along the road. I replied yes and apologized if I scared them by driving up with a bus. The young man said "we were actually a little disappointed that you got out by yourself. We were hoping to see a bus load of kids come out"I have experienced multiple times at other businesses where my group has been turned away (even when calling in advance)I explained that I was in town with a group that I had dropped off at the school and was on way to pick them up. I don't remember which staff member said it, but 1 of them said "well, when you pick them up go ahead and bring them back here"This experience at this DQ was especially unusual for me as i assume that none of these staff members were upper level managers with the store, yet they were still eager to have a bus load of guests. I truly do not remember the last time that my groups were sincerely invited into a restaurant.“
“To be honest, I was a little nervous when I heard the ownership was changing. However, I’m not disappointed at all!! Excellent bakery with great staff! When I pull up, I know I’ll be greeted with a smile and a delicious donut!Thank you for being a wonderful place in our small town!“
“Ah, Culver's. A beacon of Midwestern charm in a world overflowing with fast food travesties. This joint keeps it old-school cool, sidestepping the revolting industrial slop that many 21st-century chains peddle. My burger? Thin, crispy, and mouthwateringly good. Dived headfirst into a caramel shake and cheesy curds, and let me tell ya, I emerged pleasantly plumper. My wife and brother opted for salads - satisfied, but they clearly missed out on the blissful chunkiness I experienced. And the custard? Oh boy. We all made a beeline for seconds. If you haven't tried the cheese curds, you're missing out. Quick service as well! Do yourself a favor and drop by, and maybe, just maybe, you'll leave as fat and joyous as I did.“
