“We had heard good things about Lallande and we were not disappointed. We ate at the bar which I would highly recommend. Our server was Nina and she made the evening fun. I had the salmon and my husband had the lamb chops. Generous portions and absolutely delicious. We also had the chicken pate which was so good. But the highlight for us was the carrot tarte. A must have, if you go.The owner Ann Marie was working in the kitchen keeping all the balls in the air, but she took time to visit with us and made us feel extra welcome. Do yourself a favor and dine at Lallande on Monroe St. Perhaps we'll see you there because we'll be back! Five stars.“

“I got the woodsman pizza which tasted delicious, a little oily for me. The service was fast, efficient and the hostess welcome us kindly. Because it’s was a weekday they were not busy at all. Definitely a place I would go back, I like the atmosphere too, inside it has a red decor and with the candles looks cool. Also the price is great!“

“We held a birthday party at State Line Distillery on short notice due to weather concerns with the outdoor venue that was planned. They were exceptionally welcoming and extremely accommodating. So many guests commented on what a great space State Line offers—both inside and outside. Not to mention the delicious high-quality drinks and friendly, helpful staff. “Good for what it is. Order from counter. Only option is dumplings. Meat, potato, or mix. 1/2 order or full. Select your toppings. Drinks available from cooler. Sit down in another room and they call you when it is ready, or takeout. We got 1/2 order meat and 1/2 potato, both with all fixings which was enough for a light lunch for the three of us. All fixings worked well together. Meat were tastier than potato, which were bland except for fixings. Person at counter was helpful. We bussed our own table. So service was fine for what it was. Eating room was fine. Bathrooms (2 nongender) were small and functional, but worn and well-used.“

“This cafe has many delicious options for food. It however does not have celiac safe options. The cross contamination is too high. They do note this if you call them by stating that they can't guarantee there isn't. But I would not eat here if you have celiacs because I did twice and it made me incredibly sick. Again the food in my opinion is delicious, it just isn't celiacs safe.“

“My family and I had a marvelous dinner here. The food was excellent and plentiful, the service was great, and the restaurant is charming. We had the stir-fry beef noodles, thukpa (soup) and the lamb thali, as well as momos for the table and it was all tasty. We also had a lovely conversation with one of the staff about Tibet and Nepal and the regional differences in cuisine. The place is a bit on the small side so you may have to wait for a table, but it is very much worth the wait. I intend to make this a regular stop when I am in Madison.“

It's a unique take on something I've seen in every form, but they get it right with little surprises in every bite. Do yourself a favor and get the orange juice.
