She had a genuine smile the entire time and treated everyone—whether dine-in guests or delivery drivers—with the same warm, polite attitude. The food the flavors the pairings the combinations of flavors the presentation on top of an atmosphere carefully curated into a cozy lively Japanese style tapas bar with the most stellar customer service from your servers you can't go wrong here, you just can't. My brain had fireworks going off the entire time I was there tasting everything I had ordered from the duck and beef tataki to the 5 assorted sashimi and the aburi saba. It was "chef's kiss". If you're new to Edmonton and love Japanese styled and inspired foods you HAVE TO COME HERE. Reservations highly encouraged we got lucky to get in as quick as we did without one, but this place is VERY popular.“

“This place is amazing. Great atmosphere, super helpful staff and hostess. Rolls are perfect sizes, with a range of large and small. Our 10 yr old wanted dumplings and the 6pc Gyoza was perfect for him. All ingredients were super fresh, avocados were the perfect ripeness. Their signature seasonal deserts are pcs of art, the amount of time and detail on these are absolutely stunning. I would travel across the city for this place, luckily we’re really close. 10/10.“

“I used to come here when I was a student. Amongst all the ramen I've tried, I still always gravitate to the black garlic ramen. Simple but delicious, rich and authentic. The portions are great for the cost. Highly recommend checking this place out!“

“The aesthetic of the restaurant is visually appealing and was very cute. We were a group of 6 and our server had to mention this 2 times that a tip of 18% would be mandatory, which was fine. Food was great and they had lots of selections. The salmon sashimi I had tasted off for some reason, but the rest were good.“

“Where do i start? This was my first time here with my mom and we were blown away! Beautiful little restaurant, this place is a GEM! It was packed for a Wednesday, but the service was consistent and incredible! The tables have extra napkins and there's a nice container with some wooden chopsticks. Your food is served on little wooden boards which was awesome! The wasabi looked like it was in the shape of a flower. The details at this place are amazing . Alot of severers and all of them were so sweet and attentive . I love the tiny portions here, it lets you trt everything on the menu without getting stuffed on rice! The sashimi is small and thin, which is just perfect. Most of the items you get only 2 pieces, you get little rice and its great! Most ayce places give you so much rice with your rolls and the portions are huge. Everything here is delicate and balanced. The beef tatayki was my favorite! Three strips of deliciousness . It makes you order more! I really enjoyed getting my sushi in controlled portions. Because of this me and my mom ate alot. We tried the toro which was extra, but it was melt in your mouth. Theres also an option here to get raw food to cook on a stone! We didnt do that, but you can get fish, shrimp, mussels and steak! You cook it right at your table . Most of the food we had melted in our mouths. What i really enjoyed was that we got everything in all our orders. We didn't have to repeat any items like we do at other sushi places. 10/10, sushi toshi is our favorite place now!!“

“I wanted to thank every customer who visited this store. My dad bought this store back when he was in his 30s, and now, in his 60s, he’s finally decided it’s time to retire. Over the years, he poured his heart into this place, serving countless customers and building relationships with so many of you who came back time and time again. “Excellent Japanese food - highly recommended! We accidentally found Toyo Sushi while shopping nearby and enjoyed it so much we plan to return regularly. The tempura is especially tasty and well prepared. We recently moved here from California, so we know what good Japanese food tastes like! The host is very welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly. The decor is not fancy shoji screens and kimonos, but we’re there for the food!“

“We absolutely love love love this Tokyo Express location! It’s by far our favourite in the entire city. Not only is the food always absolutely delicious, but the staffs are also always so kind / courteous here! We order from this location at least 1-2 times a week & are always so impressed.

“First time being here. So happy I stopped in for lunch. This Izakaya is fantastic for shareable and drinks. The daily half priced lunchtime ramen is amazingly good. Hand pulled noodles and great broth. The place is packed with people now. Waiter told me the owners ran Ramen Misoya downtown but sold it and now just focus on this place. 2 Chefs are trained in authentic Japanese Ramen soup n Japan. Takoyaki was creamy and piping hot. Yum!

“Love this spot. So cute inside and the staff are all really kind. The milk tea is delicious! They don’t use powder so you can really taste the flavors in the tea. The shredded potatoes have a tasty chili oil flavor. And the chicken wings!! I don’t even normally go for chicken wings but these are so good. The batter has this lemony/salty flavor and they are really crispy and fresh. 10/10 recommend.“

Food was delicious and nicely presentable (except one of our hand rolls spilled out when it was serviced to us, and I had some scales in my bento). Otoro was amazing, really enjoyed that there are premium pieces you can order. A bit expensive, but good quality food.“

I’ve eaten sushi all over the world, and Kabuki Sushi ranks among the best I’ve ever had. As far as Edmonton goes, this is hands down the best spot for sushi.

The food is fresh, healthy, and beautifully presented. The staff are also very polite and provide excellent service. Highly recommended.“

“I’ve always loved this place—it’s been my favorite spot for as long as I can remember. My father started bringing me here as soon as I could walk, back when it was located on the other side of the complex beside the old Movie Studio (now Remedy).

I recently visited Edmonton again, and after having sushi in many coastal cities, I can confidently say Kyoto still does so much right. I do miss when the salmon skin rolls were tall and flaky enough to fall apart, and when the eel sometimes came out a touch too crispy—but that was part of the charm.

“I was so excited to try this place and it did not disappoint, the wait time after we ordered was about 15 mins. The flavours of the food is so good! We went with assorted sushi and Unagi was served warm and it was delicious and probably the best one out of all the items that we tried. The place have a lot of tables even for bigger groups, the place was quiet even when pack with people.

The place is close to high level bridge and walterdale bridge which i would say a nice walk after eating here would be nice too.

“The menu isn't super expensive but what they do have on the menu is all great!

The sashimi/raw fish options were all fresh with no fishy smell/taste. Their tempura was all lightly battered and crispy. The fried food was all super hot and tasty.

Everything came out in a reasonable time. Even though it was busy the server was attentive and checked in on our party of 6 several times throughout the night, refilling water and asking for drinks and other things.

For the price we paid, I feel we got a lot of food and the size of the rolls were all very well portioned. I definitely will be coming back as this is another south side sushi spot that seems to be underrated.“

“I have eaten here many times. Today was my first Omakase experience. Out of the 20 courses I only didn’t enjoy 2-3 of them however I was more than happy to still finish them. The fish here is fresh, unique and delicious. The staff is warm and welcoming. I do feel you get better value for lunch here vs the Omakase dinner but it is a great experience that I could only justify once in a blue moon for the price. For me this is the best sushi I have had outside of Japan. You will not be disappointed going here but make sure to make reservations as it is small.“
