“This past weekend, we went to Pizza Grace because the original owners sold it to the owners of Big Spoon Creamery. So, out of fear and curiosity, we wanted to see if our favorite pizza place was still our favorite pizza place. Let’s just start. The garlic bread they switched the focaccia with pizza dough, spread fairly thin so it was light and crispy and they swapped the garlic oil for garlic butter with herbs. This was actually really good! We both enjoyed it and thought the flavor of the butter was way better than the original garlic olive oil spread. However, I think they should have kept the focaccia bread and just swapped the olive oil with the garlic and herb butter. That would have been an easy 10/10. But unfortunately, even though it was still very good, it gets an 8.5/10. The pizza itself was still basically the same. We got the pepperoni pizza. Upon arrival and tasting, we could tell they cut back on the red pepper flakes, which we were both happy about. Our main issue was the fact that we could tell, visually, the pizza was smaller and not as big as it used to be. We didn’t like that we were paying basically the same price for less pizza. I’d recommend either making the pizzas bigger again or lowering the price. This also would have been a 10/10, but we’re taking off points for the pizza being visibly smaller and giving it a 9.5/10. For dessert, I got the Big Spoon Bar, which has fior di latte, salted caramel, TCHO chocolate, sea salt, and hazelnut in it. No notes here easy 10/10. I literally could not complain. First bite was heaven! All in all, this was very good with only a few minor disappointments. Is this still my favorite pizza place? Yes. Will I return? Yes, I will but I also think it depends on whether they adjust the price or return the pizza to its original size. That’s literally just how we feel since we’ve been going there for years. “They made a reservation and some of our people were early, of everyone in our party had to wait for everyone to get there and all walk in together. So some of our people were late and they canceled our reservations it’s my Grandson 16th Birthday Party!! I tried to order my Grandson a pizza, I was told it would be 20 minutes for one large pepperoni and sausage pizza after 25 minutes, I was told it would be 20 more minutes, we were all ready having to go find somewhere else to eat!!! I had to get my money back and wait on the manager to ok everything . So no food and 16th Birthday party ruined!!!“

My favorite pizza in Birmingham. My BIL came up recently and said the hot chick may be his fave pizza ever, and he's really picky. I also love the 90s vibe and it's very easy to order on their website. I now have it saved to favorites. Highly recommend.“

“I can not say enough how much I appreciate the supervisor at this location. I ordered my food off the app and it sent my order to the Bessemer location. When my food arrived I was missing several things I ordered and what I did get what I did get was not edible. I tried contacting the Bessemer location multiple times only to be hung up on every time. They literally picked the phone up and hung up immediately 7 times. Not knowing what else to do I called the Shades Crest location and had the pleasure of speaking to James. He went above and beyond to fix what another store messed up and was so kind to me. The staff was friendly, informative, and incredibly helpful—every single one of them greeted us with smiles and made the experience truly enjoyable. It was at dinner time so I ordered a veggie pizza for me & my son which was gluten free & my wife ordered a ribeye steak to share with our daughter. This visit I ordered a Meatzza. The pizza was hot, fresh, cheesy, and loaded with toppings. Overall, the food was good and met expectations.

My only issue was with the special instructions. I specifically requested that the pizza not be cut. The reason is simple: the slices at this location are often cut unevenly, so I prefer to cut it myself at home. Unfortunately, the pizza was cut anyway.

This has happened multiple times at this location, which suggests someone is not paying close attention to order details. I brought it to the attention of the employee when I picked it up.

The food quality, convenience, and value keep me coming back, but attention to special requests is an area that could use improvement.“

Her customer service and communication are always immaculate 10/10 every visit! I wish I could say the same for the manager who’s there mid-day. She always has an attitude, is constantly on her phone, and comes across as extremely rude. Honestly, I’d give this place negative 100 stars just for her. However, Crystal is wonderful, and I’d rather my review highlight the positive manager than the negative! When I mentioned writing a review in the car on the way home, my 9-year-old son said, “Make sure you write that even the kids love Ms. Crystal!” so that’s exactly what I’m doing!“
