“The half-chicken and pork ribs are very good. The prices are reasonable as well. I wasn't impressed by the brisket; it seemed like it had been cooked at too high of a temperature and all the fat had been broken down instead of rendered properly. That's been true of every barbeque place I've been to though so it's not so much of an indictment against this establishment as it is against Alabama BBQ as a whole.“
“I purchased food to take out. The young woman at the counter was very nice and took care of my order quickly. Since my husband and I are carnivore, being able to pick up just barbecue without sauce and without all the extras makes life a little easier.“

“I have been going to Island jerk for over 20+ yrs and I have to say "I do not see myself slowing down" as a matter of fact, When I first started going. I lived in Huntsville, Al, I now live an hour away and I drive at least once a month personally to get me a plate or two! Not only do they have great food, they also have great service, they are kind, friendly, and most importantly, they believe in customer satisfaction. I am always pleased when I go there. If you are worried about the price, well don't be!!! Because You get more than enough food for your money and you can't beat the taste. You get what you pay for! Although everyone there has always been polite and friendly with me. Omar, you are the best. He most definitely is willing to go above and beyond too satisfy the customers. “We drove over an hour to try this place out. Absolutely everything was well worth the drive! The beignets, country gravy and biscuits, chocolate gravy and biscuits, loaded French toast, everything was incredible! So worth it and we’ll definitely be making a trip back!“

“Just so-so BBQ. Maybe I was expecting more, but I felt a little let down, restaurant had more a a fast food feel than a barbaque house.The brisket tasted more like baked than smoked and the french fries were greasy, but the Onion Rings were perfect.“

“If you have not yet tried Big John’s catfish, Fried Pablo’s pickles or classic bbq sandwich let me share why you should… This catfish is like no other, moist and tender inside and perfectly crispy outside! And the flavor!!! Seriously perfect!! The Pablo’s fried pickles are a perfect compliment, sweet and spicy deliciousness!!! And the outdoor (or indoor) dining rounds out an amazing dinner and evening! Big John’s is a regular go-to for me!“
“Tastes like home cooked, Sunday lunch after church. We ordered the chicken and shrimp alfredo, grilled pork chop, and fried catfish. All were great but highly recommend the catfish! Oh, and my husband said the stuffing tastes like his Grandma's when she made it from scratch. I agree. Very satisfying.“
“I ordered several whole BBQ chickens and baby back ribs. I originally wanted slab ribs but they were sold out even though I ordered in advanced. The chicken was moist and cooked perfectly and the taste was outstanding. The ribs were good as well. I will definitely be ordering from them again!“
