Experience Meridianville's Mexican food at these fantastic spots.
“UPDATE 2/7/2024: We've eaten here several times over the past year and have been very pleased. Chips/queso are excellent. Meals always come out quickly and CORRECT. Bathrooms are clean. The food is on point. We look forward to our next visit!--------------------------------ORIGINAL 5yrs ago:Decent but not my favorite. Go to Phil Sandoval's out on University Drive! You won't regret it.“
“Food was fresh and warm. Only issue, with all customers was the way they operate the split store. So if you order KFC & Taco Bell, you get your KFC pretty quickly. The TB portion comes out about 10min later. They don't have it structured where both sides are manned. Management might want to consider how to restructure that so families are not finishing thier meals while other members are just starting to eat. Other than that, the staff are wonderful and very pleasant!“
“WHOA. my first word after taking a bite of their mexi egg rolls...oh my gosh - just YUMMY! this fits the bill for wanting something different and "I didn't know I needed this." I've had their Burrito Real at least a dozen times - also yummy - a trusted staple...but those egg rolls pushed me to submit an overdue review of this place. ?“
“Excellent food! Reasonable prices. Fresh veggies, beef and corn tortillas. Great Mexican food. Because it is not a fancy sit down restaurant, you save on costs and still get the same quality as a fancy sit down restaurant. Workers are nice too. Not fast but if you want good, it's worth the wait! Cilantro and lime, so yummy!“
“The pizza was delicious! It was nothing short of perfection in our view! YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! My salad was different than what the menu described…the walnuts were not “candied” and there were not any “dried figs”. The menu did state that the figs would be provided “in season” but I assumed there would be some substitution if the figs were not available. My mistake. $13.00 is pretty steep for some arugula, peppers, feta and some walnuts…in our opinion!!! Our waitress was great and cheerful until the owner talked gruffly to her. We were right there and our heart broke for her! Surely, he could have waited until later to reprimand an employee instead of in front of his patrons?!?! We do not know if he was having a bad day, but he was an unsmiling and unhappy looking person the entire time we were there. Our wine choice was really good! There were lots of good choices to choose from.“
“Someone from southern Arizona, I have been looking all over for a good Mexican food place for a year now. I stumbled across CATRINAS. I can honestly say the BEST Iv had! Very friendly! Food was hot and delicious. 10/10. Excited to go back with the wife! Not drenched in white cheese and the meat has flavor! Check them out!“
“The staff are so nice. The food is great. Bonus points for the salsa bar! Great affordable spot for lunch. Lightning fast service. There's some real SEASONING on this food unlike the bland Mexican spots in town like Rosie's.My only complaint is the canned pineapple on the fish tacos. I would rework that recipe to be more authentic. Otherwise everyone taco I have gotten has been 5/5. I'd also love for them to eventually serve Margaritas.“
“We stopped by the area for a quick walk about and grew hungry. A short line at peak lunch time, but well worth the wait. The burrito I had was The Judge, flavorful chicken with rice, black beans, chips and salsa and a side. Honestly can't wait to frequent more often, lots of selection for burritos and tacos. Their Margaritas looked great also, but the weather was pretty cold, so next time for sure.Space inside was kind of small, but handled the brief lunch rush for a Sunday. Once the weather is warmer outdoor seating will be most desirable. Keep up the great work Taco Mama, your friendly staff and warm atmosphere was excellent.“
“Glad to have a taqueria near us! A newly opened restaurant but food shows experience in the kitchen. Ordered a couple al pastor tacos (very good) and the birria taco platter (also very good!). Looking forward to another visit to try the birria ramen! Nice little restaurant and a nice staff.“
“We love Rosie’s! Definitely some of the best food around. Their strawberry margaritas are also incredible, so make sure to try one! OH and by far HANDS DOWN the best sopapillas I have ever had. They are always fresh and super light. They’re even just as good warmed up the next day ?“
“If you know anything about me at all, you know, I’m extremely picky about my Mexican food. And for the most, part I really don’t like TexMex, so when I tell you, Nanny and I have found the absolute best Mexican restaurant in Huntsville, you know I’m not lying. (Trust the fat guy!) We ate there yesterday for the first time and today 16 of us went back and had an amazing time! Food! Music! Service! All outstanding! It’s a hole in the wall, and you know those are the best! Mi Delicioso Guanajuato 2818 Governors Dr SW suite #C Huntsville AL 35805 (256) 715-1479 Sun 10:30 am - 7:00 pm Mon 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Tue 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Thu 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Fri 11:00 am - 7:00 pm Sat 11:00 am - 7:00 pm“
“This little spot is the absolute best taco’s I’ve ever eaten in my life you will not be dissapointed try the birria taco’s they are to die for trust me im very picky and this place is 10 outta 10 I give them an 11 go try them out and see for yourself you will definitely thank me and the service and cleanliness is just as good . “
“Delish! I walk in for quick take out... I just ask the girls at the front for food, nothing specific, and everytime they order for me it ALWAYS satisfies! Oh, and its fast too! Oh, and they are really nice too! Also, today, she asked me if i liked spicy, and of course I do... but she wasn't kidding it had a kick on it! Very good though.“
“Food is quite good and service is just fine. My personal preference is probably more towards Los Trojas, but this place is a very close second with better prices. The atmosphere isn’t as nice being connected to a gas station, but the food and service make up for that.“
“Celia makes you feel at home. I enjoy the food, but most importantly, I appreciate the friendliness and warm welcome Celia gives her customers. If I was to only eat at one place for the rest of my life, this would be the place. My favorites are lingua and tripa tacos. Get that with pineapple pieces and their delicious slow cooked consomme, and you will be happy. Thank you Celia. You are amazing ! God keep you healthy and full of energy, can't wait to eat at your restaurant one day. Bendiciones para ti !!!!“
“This is for the food truck on University Blvd.I ordered an $8 burrito "Al Pastor" (pork), it had tiny pieces of fat (not many) from the cut that would help provide additional flavor to the meat. The burrito was big, tasty and filling. At first, I thought of eating half because of the size, and the next thing I know I'm liking my fingers. Service was fast for time/day. It's located at a gas station so you make your own atmosphere. They have a juice truck adjasent to the taco truck. Heard the $3 tacos are great, so I'll be back. You can eat on location as well. **cash only**Parking: Parking is shared with gas station patrons.“
“Oh my,this place is awesome. The 1st time I'd ever eaten there, but I can honestly say it definitely won't be my last ..My boyfriend (Dennis Orr) and I went to try it out bc we both love Mexican food...We both ate beef burritos, which were absolutely delicious ? ???The chips and salsa were delish, the white cheese was a delight, omg sooo good ? ? ?The price wasn't bad for the portion you get!Thank you for your great service and delish food!It may have been our 1st time, but you can bet it won't be our last!God BlessThis was a different review for a different day! March 22nd, 2024..The food was delish, and our server was excellent (Alberto), such an excellent service he provided..He made sure we all 3 ( my boyfriend (Dennis Orr) and his daughter (Carol) and I were satisfied with our order!Everything was absolutely amazing. The chips and salsa were really good ??We would recommend anything Mexican you'd want to eat!!I do have pictures to share!Dennis ate the Beef Barreto, with rice and beans...I ate the Chicken Tamillies?Carol ate the taco salad, which she said was delish also..We all were completely satisfied!!Thanx again, Phil Sandoval's for another excellent meal..God Bless You All“
“Daniel, our server, & David, the manager, have always been fantastic, friendly, and quick to provide good service.Mi Casa has great food, especially the Shrimp Fajitas! All the fajitas are larger portions that I have received at any restaurant - ever. An additional taco for sure. The margaritas, queso, chips, & live music on Friday nights are wonderful & create a cozy experience. We have visited nearly weekly - a testament to their food, service, and great staff.“
“Their build a taco, burrito, and nachos are amazing. The amount of food they give you is insane. I never can finish. I also order a side of street corn for myself, delicious. I have tried a couple of their drinks, they were all good. You really can't go bad here.“
“This place is Hidden gem for street mexican food. If you aren't careful, you'll drive right past it, but it's worth the stop. Prices are great and the food is good. The tacos are made with fresh soft corn Tortillas. The asada is tender and lightly seasoned. The al pastor is bursting with flavor. If you like some spice, add a little of the red picante sauce on the counter. Burn your lips goodness.“
“Oh what a wonderful place to go and eat and sit with family to enjoy family quality time. My boys got the buffett, me and my ma ordered plates and we were all beyond satisfied not only with the quality of the food but also with the staff. They are extremely friendly and made absolutely sure we had what we ordered and our drinks were filled. Great place to take the family, or friends for drinks.Kid-friendliness: Great place for kids to eat“
“The best place on Earth! The owner, Theresa, her family & staff/volunteers are some of the most humble, kind and caring people I've ever met! I have so much gratitude and appreciation for all of you and those who donate! The food is prepared, served & given to those in need with so much love… JESUS is proud!“
“Went to El Charro for the first time today. Was a very good choice! Staff took the time to describe their food and help us make our choices. Service was quick as well. I got a large order of Gringas. Lots of really good meat and cheese comfort food! Easily enough for two people. My wife got chicken tacos. These were excellent as well. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu. Highly recommend.“
“My wife and I had Steak chimichangas with rice, beans, sour rest and Guacamole on the side. Food was pretty good, Guacamole was a bit tart like it was prepackaged and had Lime added to it. We went between 6pm and 645pm and customers where not bad. Servers were not bad, pretty attentive and food came out pretty quick. Definitely will go back to eat here.“
“very nice atmosphere with excellent staff and great food!I have never had chorizo artichoke dip, but I have now and it was amazing! We also had a steak sandwich that was flavorful and crispy as well as a delicious chicken quesadilla. I also recommend the sangria as super refreshing!Only Con - the queso dip was kind of mid.overall 4.5/5 I will definitely be back to try more!“
“I've been going since '92. The food is great. I recommend and get the Raven and No Carne. Great selection of beer and (strong) margarita. I can't say or get enough of Bandito hot sauce!Vegetarian options: The Raven and No Carne top my list.“
“It has been a few years since I've been to El Mariachi. Myself, and my grandparents used to come here often, but had since started to going to El Monte because it is closer to my grandmother. We decided to give El Mariachi some love today since had not been in so long. Right away, the biggest change that caught my eye was the decor, they have gone with a more western style theme and have done away with the paintings that I remember... but I digress, we're here to talk about the food. First, the salsa. The first thing that caught my attention was they use fresh cilantro which gave a nice kick when you take that first bite, followed by the other spicy nuances that you want in any salsa. For my entree, I had the chicken fajitas. They came out promptly and were still sizzling. I also had the salad with refried beans, fresh guacamole, and rice. The fajitas themselves were great without any additional toppings, but blended with the guacamole, sour cream, and salsa, makes for a delectable little bite. All in all, it was a good experience. Service was prompt and attentative, and the food was good and fresh. While it may not exactly be like a fine wine in that it gets better with age, it certainly has not lost it's touch. Will definitely be coming back!“
“I recently had a chance to visit Hops N Guac while I was visiting Huntsville for a conference. The food was good and the atmosphere was very comfortable and laid back. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the Huntsville area.“
“This is the go-to spot for very very good tacos. If one is a fan of regional Mexican and all the accompaniments this is a must stop food truck. You will not be disappointed. From the carne asada to the horchata this is a great place to pick up really fast service carryout.“
“The staff was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious and this will definitely become one of our go to Mexican spots. Jalapeno fajitas were very spicy and delicious. The steak supermo was also delicious. The beans with the chips were cooked beans and one of the best I have had, not just some regualr refried beans plopped in a bowl.“
“was hard to find the place as I didn't know where they were located to begin with. very quick take out delivery and the burrito was very very good along with the salsa. hard to find good Mexican food around here . highly recommend this place“
“The food is pretty good...my only negative comment is being charged 1.99 to add a pinch of onion and cilantro to taco ...my 1 taco went from 3.49 to $5.23..That is a crazy upcharge...nearly 2 bucks for a pinch of onion and cilantro..I could completely understand $1.00 for both but $1.00 each ..ridiculous....“
“My husband and I stopped in yesterday for a snack and a drink to pass the time before an appointment. The choriqueso was amazing! The chorizo was crispy and the cheese and peppers were a great balance. We loved the special flour tortilla chips. As usual, our service was friendly and attentive. We always have a great experience.“
“Food came out AMAZINGLY quick and was tasty. The wait staff were attentive, helpful and polite. Price point seemed high at first, until I saw the quantity- easily 2 meals for a big guy over 6ft.Please try this placeThe parking is not ideal, but not horrifying either. Only downsideIt DOES help if you can speak spanishLa comida llegò rapidomente y era rico. Con la cantidad comì un plato sobre casi un dia total. Los frijoles eran normal pero estaba con chorizo bueno y muchas cosas. Sobre todo, las salas son buenisimas.Dietary restrictions: Easy to be gluten-free.Tortillas are corn, and almost nothing is breaded. Obviously take care with saucesParking: A dozen spots; can be difficult to exitKid-friendliness: I would take my toddler here with me, and there is a kids menu with bland food“
“We only did pickup this time at Shaggys. The quesadilla and taco salad are both still good. The cheese dip was disappointing due to the size you receive for the price. The same goes for the chips and salsa, which are usually complimentary at other Mexican restaurants.“
“Amazing tamales! It’s been hard to find some since leaving San Antonio and these are up there! The staff and team are so quick to respond and very helpful. At pickup the men up front wouldn’t let me try and carry the big containers to my car because they were so ridiculously heavy, and insisted they helped me while I wrangled my two boys, and our lunch order. Absolutely a hsv staple.“
“I noticed that a new panaderia opened up in the area so I decided to pay a visit. This location is shared with the La Fondita restaurant. There's plenty of parking outside. Once you enter the building, there's a sign that directs you to towards the store. I was the only one when I entered the store. When you enter the store, the left side mainly has groceries (fresh fruit + snacks) and some items you would find in a gas station. Oh the right side, there's a large selection of conchas, pan dulce, cookies, bread rolls, and other items you would find at a panaderia (bakery). Everything seems to be baked fresh daily; I saw an employee putting items in the containers when I entered. I was a little unsure when I entered, but if you know what you want, there's a serving tray and some tongs. Just place your items on the serving tray and take that to the checkout line to grab. I also ordered a Hot Cheetos Elote which they prepared fresh. I'll probably come back to try some other items as it was fairly cheap.“
“Very well decorated, and lots of space. The food was delicious. When the waitress brought our main dishes out. I was amazed at the size of the plates. For the first time, in awhile, I was not able to eat it all.The waitresses were very polite, and return on a regular basis, to make sure everything was fine.If you like Mexican Food, and thinking of eating here, do not hesitate. You’ll be happy you did. They have lots of great decorations, with plenty of tables. The bar was well stocked, and everyone was in great spirits. They have handicap seating and restrooms. Which, the restaurant and the restroom was all very clean.I was with my brother, and he really liked it, as well. Like myself, he couldn’t finish all of his food.Parking: Plenty of space to park.Kid-friendliness: They have a bar, but it was on the other end of the place. The dinning area is huge. It was quit, and you would not have any issues bring your kids.“
“We've been here a few times in the past week and it's been great every time. It may not seem like much, at the back of a gas station, but don't let that deter you. The service is fantastic and everything is made fresh in-house. The meats are well marinated and everything tasted good. Good prices too.The tamarind tea is fantastic, hibiscus tea can be a bit tart, and the pineapple is hit or miss (you have to catch it when it's made fresh).Stopping in to get a breakfast burrito sometime this week based on recommendations, will post updates.“
