We had steaks, salad, potatoes and tea along with the condiments for the salads and potatoes as well as plastic/paper products and serving utensils at such an amazing price. Ms. Jennifer and her staff went above and beyond. She even called a couple hours later to check on how things went. Excellent food! Excellent prices! Excellent customer service!“

The atmosphere was nice and the appetizers were good. The vegetarian entree options (roasted cauliflower steak) was sizeable and prepared well with a little hot sauce and barbecue sauce but it provided nothing in the way of protein which was disappointing. Our server was kind, just a bit frazzled.“

“I’ve gone to La Jolla twice in the past month and had an awesome server, Asher. The food and service have been great both times. On my first visit, the dining room and bar were full, so the host took my number and called me when a table became available. I enjoyed the grilled lamb small plate on that visit. On my second visit, I arrived before 5 pm, so there wasn’t a crowd just yet. I was greeted and seated immediately. I ordered the Cajun salmon and Hoppin John entrée this time. It was delicious. I definitely recommend it!“

I had a ham and cheese omelet, and it wasn't bad, but it was cooked in too much of that orange colored grease, which left a noticeable, less than desirable taste for me. I might try the scrambled eggs or french toast if I go again. It was 6.95 for the omelet, tatar tots, milk, and an orange juice.“

Sides were cheese grits, string beans, collards, slaw and okra corn and tomatoes. Delicious corn muffins came to the table with our drinks. Drink choices are sweet and unsweetened tea, lemonade and water. Somehow we got lucky and hit on a rare slow day, so no wait for a seat right at noon. We drove two hours to give this place a try after reading rave reviews online. I can easily say we would make the trip again, just for the remarkable chicken!“

“Hi everyone out there reading,As we pulled in the parking lot to American deli there was like four vehicles out there and when I went inside there was only a couple people and they're waiting on their food and I walked right to the restaurant to call me to come up and place my order and I had a friend on the phone who was covid positive for 2 weeks with quarantine and she was feeling better her and her daughter and they had wanted something so I called him up when I got there and I hand the phone to the man he took it and he took the order very helpful I appreciate that he took mine and I spent like $30 for 4 meals it was it was delicious like always and good company and then why you waiting on your food to chat with other people and you can get you something to drink it don't take that long for what you're getting so yeah in and out real quick if you never been there I suggest you try to get there you'll like it you'll love it what the heck give him a try...“

We were hungry and driving by so just stopped in for a snack. You order at the counter and they bring food to your table, so service was pretty good. Get your own soda and clean up after yourself at the end.
We tried two of their specials. $6 each for samplers of fish, chicken and shrimp. Both samplers also came with fries and hush puppies.
All the food was clearly freshly cooked and hot. The sides were fine, and better than expected. The mains were all very good. Best of all, was the chicken tender. Actually delicious. A real contender against all the fried chicken places around.
A nitpicky knock goes to the tartar sauce, which was bland and basically just mayo.“
