I used to live in DC, where there is a Chinatown. I ate there often.

Despite my many visits to DV Chinatown, Mr. Chen’s in Montgomery, Alabama is the best, most authentic Chinese food I have ever had.“

“Picked this restaurant on a random whim and good thing I was there early, the surroundings look sketchy. Ordered through the phone and picked up in store no issues. Food is your generic Chinese fast food, don’t set your expectations too high or too low, it’s just right. The roast pork fried rice tastes similar to Filipino Tocino. Prices are relatively good.“

“Typical Chinese take out place with pretty decent prices! Food was pretty good. Wonton soup was good; it had a yellowish tinge that we’re not used to, but flavor was on point. My dad loved the shrimp with mixed vegetables, and the shrimp fried rice was solid :)

I did take off a star though because the cashier did handle some cash and didn’t wash her hands after finishing a transaction. Moreover, the yum yum sauce doesn’t taste like the ones you’d find in Japanese restaurants: it tasted mainly of mayonnaise so it was a bit jarring when I tried it with the fried rice. Regardless, we recommend this place 👍“

Only issue I've had was a guy begging for money that hangs out near there... Just walk by don't make eye contact and look mad he'll leave ya alone 😂......act like you fit in and you'll be fine....kinda a ruff part of Montgomery.....but I still make the

“Very clean. The floors are swept after each quest leaves if needed. You never have to sit down in trash left by previous quests. The food is great. Dinner rolls are good.“

“Ignore the grim storefront. We went on a Wednesday evening, passing through Montgomery. The food was amazing. I ordered House Special Wonton soup. They packed the quart container with freshly cooked meats and vegetables and added a tasty chicken broth. Shrimp were tender. Veggies still had a bit of crispness. Husband had Happy Family. He said it was the best Chinese he’d ever had. I admit egg roll was meh. If you want overcooked, buffet Chinese, this is not the place to go.

“Stopped here after church to pick up some food to take home. I picked up two dishes, the Orange Chicken and the Chicken with garlic sauce. I got one with egg roll and the other with egg drop soup. Both dishes were tasty and the lunch special made for a very reasonable cost with plenty of food. The service was pretty quick and restaurant seemed clean but that particular morning it was very cold outside and the interior of the restaurant was absolutely freezing. Luckily, I was getting mine to go. I’m assuming something was wrong with their heat but all in all the food was good and would pick up from here again.“
