“We had lunch here recently. To begin with the restaurant is kind of in an out of the way location. There is a good waterfront view though. There were several menu items that were not available at the time we visited and it took an excessive amount of time for our food to come out of the kitchen. The food was okay.“

The jumbo fried shrimp highlighted Sam's Southern Eatery are true to their name of jumbo, with a delightful crunch revealing the tender shrimp within. The catfish was lightly seasoned and fried, achieving a perfect balance of crispiness and tenderness. I usually don’t enjoy okra unless it is fried hard and that is what they had. The Krispy okra added a unique twist, providing a satisfying crunch. The gumbo, a comforting medley of flavors, exhibited a rich blend that transported me to culinary bliss. “We had a group of 8, and these people at this Captain D's did a fabulous job getting our order right and fast! I can't say enough of how nice and helpful the entire crew was with getting our lunch! The food came out fast, hot, and delicious! We were meeting in Selma because it was a halfway point between where we live, and the lunch here allowed us to sit down for a while and catch up with each other. Thanks again to this Selma Captain D's crew!“
“This was the most amazing food I have had in a long time. Visiting from Birmingham, Al we could not find anything in this small time that we thought would be good. We stumbled up on this place which is literally in the middle of a neighborhood. When you enter the place it starts out as fine dining. But when you want to go to the bar it is in the very back with live band. The French bread and small muffins that they give as complimentary was very good. I had the Chicken St George and it was absolutely amazing. The fried green tomato stack was good. Never had fried green tomatoes with a sauteed crab sauce on top. I will definitely be returning when I am back in Selma, Al“
