Emandare Vineyard Winery • $$
6798 Norcross Rd, Duncan

“Fantastic people, fantastic wines. Everything about Emandare is about letting the land and the grapes do their thing. The Pinot Noir is positively dynamic (but sells out every year). Visit the tasting room and you’ll immediately understand why wines from this valley are making waves… they are so good!“

Blue Grouse Estate Winery Wineries •

“Had a nice experience at Blue Grouse estate winery. We had the savour the island which was very nice.

The charcuterie board was nice although I belt the crackers had been a little too dry to my taste but to each and their own.

Beautiful property and nice that we could see the vines when we had the tasting.“

Averill Creek Vineyard Wineries •
6552 N Rd, Duncan

“Stopped in for an impromptu date/wine tasting with the wife. Had great service from a very knowledgeable bar tender.

The wines were very nice. I especially liked the Rose. We got a delicious(and locally sourced) duck pate for a snack served with crackers and pickles.

The setting is beautiful. We were unable to enjoy the patio due to a late summer downpour but the tasting room has great views of the Cowichan Valley and we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless.

The owner(Andy) even stopped by to chat with us about the wines.

Ended up buying a couple bottles of wine for later.“

Great Fermentations Winemaking Wineries • $$
254 Trans-Canada Hwy, Duncan

“Amazing experience at Great Fermentations. Their Winexpert Eclipse Barolo was truly one of the very best kit wines I have ever made or ever tasted for that matter. I will not only order another Eclipse Barolo wine kit, but I am very motivated to try the rest of the Eclipse line. Typically, it takes a long time to age Barolo wine, the pleasant and knowledgeable staff at Great Fermentations explained how Eclipse kits have a special secret process that makes it possible to have a delicious drinkable wine in a much shorter period of time. Looking forward to my next batch!“

Cherry Point Estate Wines Wineries • $$
840 Cherry Point Rd, Cobble Hill - 7.62 miles

“Cherry Point Vineyards is a hidden gem on Vancouver Island. Any negative comments are being made by people who don't appreciate the experience of visiting a small, family run, business where the owners are the ones likely tasting you the wines. This is in contrast to the large corporate wineries that are increasingly buying up wineries on the island and installing flashy tasting rooms, and serving inferior wine described by verbose tasters who really don't know what they're taking about, just reading a script.

Complaints about the quality of Cherry Point wines are being made out of ignorance, from people with little knowledge of how wine is made or simply have no palate. The wines being made here are the most full bodied, clean, and flavorful wines on Vancouver Island, and perhaps in much of Canada. The cool temperatures on Vancouver Island are not conducive to producing red wines, but Cherry Point does it, and is the only winery that does it well. We make a trip up to Victoria annually to restock our cellar with several cases of Cherry Point.

As a bonus, when it's open you can visit their bistro where the food matches the quality of the wine. That's rare and nowhere else on the island can you experience that. Make the trip and enjoy the experience.“
